1 BRAND STANDARD GUIDELINES 2014

2 LOGO USAGE & TYPEFACES Logo Usage The Lackawanna College School of Petroleum & Natural Gas logo utilizes typography, two simple rule lines and the Lackawanna College graphic incased inside a white rectangular shape with a gray border to create the logo. These elements should not be separated as each element requires the other to communicate fully. Primary Logo The secondary logo is one that mirrors the primary but stands free of the rectangular white shape and gray border. This version of the logo can be used in situations when lack of space becomes an issue or when other surrounding images or visuals do not justify its use. Secondary Logo Typefaces Times Roman is the only typeface or font used in the Lackawanna College School of Petroleum & Natural Gas logo. 3 TAGLINE USAGE & TYPEFACE Tagline Usage Whenever possible, the Lackawanna College School of Petroleum & Natural Gas tagline, Empowering Education. Enriching Lives. should be displayed. It is preferable in most applications as it further defines and brands the school. Primary Logo with Tagline Typeface for Tagline When paired with it s logo the tagline should appear in Italicized Times New Roman. This allows for the logo to take precedence in the space and creates a visually hierarchy of the elements as shown to the right. However, in instances where the tagline is not used in conjunction with the logo in materials such as fliers and ads, either Italicized Times New Roman or the ITC Avant Garde Gothic Bold typeface may be used. Example shown in web banner ad to the right. Times New Roman Italic ITC Avant Garde Gothic Bold Color for Tagline The color of the tagline font is the primary logo color PMS 282C. Depending on the application, the tagline may be displayed in white, grayscale (when color is not applicable) or the primary logo color. No other color applications are permitted. Tagline Display Size The tagline should not be displayed in any font size smaller than 8pt. Tagline displayed in smallest size allowed 8pt. 2

4 LOGO SIZE LIMITATIONS Logo Size Limitations Maintaining the legibility and integrity of the logo is very important, regardless of what the application is or the manner in which it is reproduced. Be sure that when determining the size of the logo that its legibility and integrity are not compromised. The smallest size that the primary Lackawanna College School of Petroleum & Natural Gas logo can be printed is with a height of This ensures that the smallest font size will not be displayed below 8pt. When the secondary logo is used and the border is no longer available to gauge height, the logo from the top of the graphic to the bottom of the endowment line should measure Logo shown at actual smallest size 3

5 LOGO COLOR VARIATIONS Color The color logo is the preferred logo and should be used wherever possible. Grayscale The grayscale logo should be limited to uses where a color logo cannot be used and when printing on a light solid colored background. White/Reversed The white/reversed logo should be limited to such uses where it must be printed on a dark solid colored background or on promotional items. This applies only to the secondary logo. 4

Because every image is different be sure to chose a version with strong contrast to the background. Place the logo in an area of the image that is not busy in order to enhance visibility. 5
