3 Leap GIO New Generation Public Cloud (NGP) consists of 2 portals: The Web Portal and the GIOCloud Portal (also called CPBM Portal, but we will ignore it here to avoid confusion) It was designed this way in order to facilitate the use of. The Web Portal can be considered as a simple portal with limited features while the GIOCloud Portal is known as a more complicated portal with more advanced features/functions. This user guide is only for the Web Portal. An additional user guide is provided for the GIOCloud Portal. However, the GIOCloud Portal has many complex functions/features and therefore, only a brief guide can be provided. We could have created only one guide for both portals, but we have separated the explanation of both portals into two guides in order to facilitate the understanding of our environment. For additional information, please check the FAQ section available on the Web Portal once you have logged in with your account. You may also contact us through one of these channels for further questions or any issues: - by at support@leapsolutions.co.th - by phone at through the Inquiry form located on the Web Portal - Web Portal: a simple portal through which customers login and implement basic actions - GIOCloud Portal: a more complicated portal through which customers implement advanced features. Access to this portal is through the Web Portal first - Personal Account: account mainly used by users who are not representing a company or who need computing resources for personal resources. Billing is only through credit card and approval by Leap Solutions Asia is not needed - Corporate Account: account used by companies. Billing can be either through monthly invoice or through credit card. Approval is needed before being able to access the environment To access the Web Portal, go to: In order to enter the Web Portal, you first need to sign-up. If you already have an account (Corporate or Personal), you can already login to the Web Portal. 3 Page

4 If you would like to sign-up for a Personal account, please go to: Note that personal accounts can only be used with a credit card. Click on on the top horizontal menu. Click on Sign-Up You can also directly go to: Fill up the requested information: Address, First Name, and Last Name. Then, Submit. Confirm your information 4 Page

5 Verify your by login into your inbox and clicking on the link provided. Make sure the was not blocked by any firewall or sent to your spam/junk folder. Set your new password and Confirm. Enter all the requested information and Submit. 5 Page

7 Note: Make sure to update your Credit Card information if it has not been done during the sign-up process in order to enjoy all the features that can provide. Only partial features are available without credit card information. 7 Page

8 Please contact our sales at Further instructions will be provided by our sales team so that you can register as a Corporate account. Corporate accounts allow you to pay by credit card or to be billed monthly at the end of a cycle (Invoice). 8 Page

9 For security reason and for ISO compliance, each time you log in by inputting your Username and your Password, a token will also be requested. Moreover, for security reason, after a set period of time, you may also be required to re-input a token. This token is sent to the that was registered for that username so please make sure that the registered is available at all time. To make it simple, each token is a one-time use token and is recycled everyday so it can only be used within a day. The first time you access your Web Portal, it should look like the below (note that if credit card information has not been input yet, the GIOCloud Portal menu would not show): 9 Page

10 The Dashboard menu provides you basic information regarding your account infrastructure and allows you to perform basic actions on your infrastructure. To Refresh the information: From the My Virtual Machine section, you are able to: - See the Internal Gateway IP of your Virtual Router - See basic information about your VMs: Name, Internal IP, CPU, RAM, and OS type - Have access to basic features of your VMs: Turn off/on the VM, Delete the VM, Reset the Password of the VM, and Edit the name of the VM - The section showing Coming Soon will only be available once you have created a VM and added a subscription. It will show the performance of the VM whenever the VM is turned on (CPU, Memory, and Data traffic) 10 Page

11 From the IP Address List section, you are able to: - See the Public IP address of your default network - See the additional Public addresses that you have acquired if any - See the Public IP addresses of your VPC networks if any - See the Network Security rules for each type of network that have been created - Add/Delete network security rules (N/A for VPC networks) Network Security rules: When a network security rule has been successfully added, it means that Port Forwarding and Firewall have been implemented. If only either one (Port Forwarding and Firewall) has been allowed via the GIOCloud Portal, but not the other one, it will not show up as a network security rule on the Web Portal. To summarize, both Port Forwarding and Firewall rules for a same port need to be created on the GIOCloud Portal in order to show up on the Web Portal. To add a rule, choose: - The CIDR source: Any or custom o Any: from any Public IP address o Custom: from only one Public IP address or a range of Public IP addresses - Protocol: TCP, UDP, or ICMP - Public Port: the port number via which it enters the Virtual Router - Private Port: the port number to which it will be forwarded to the VM - Virtual Machine: the VM to which it will be forwarded to - ICMP Type: Only if Protocol ICMP is chosen - ICMP Code: Only if Protocol ICMP is chosen Then click on: After a few seconds, the rule should show. If it does not show or if it takes an indefinite time, refresh the page and try to add it again if it is not showing. To remove a rule, click on: And confirm: 11 Page

12 The GIOCloud Portal menu allows you to access the more advanced GIOCloud Portal. On that portal, you will be able to do most of what you can already do on the Web Portal, but it will also grant you access to many more advanced features. Once you have clicked on it, a new tab/window will open up and your Web Portal window will still be available. For information on how to use the GIOCloud Portal, see the brief guide called LeapGIO_NGPGIOCloudPortalUSerGuide.pdf or see our FAQ section. If additional information is needed, please contact our support to request an explanation on how to use a feature or report any issue. The Catalog menu is where you create your virtual machines. See the chapter on how to Add/Create a VM. The Pricing menu is a reference tool provided by Leap Solutions Asia that allows you to customize your package and options so that you can see an estimation of how much you would be ending up paying per month. Note that VAT and taxes are NOT included in the estimation. - Start by choosing your Operating System 12 Page

13 - Choose the type of subscription - Choose the size/compute resources of your VM - Choose the additional features in the Additional Pricing section: Network or Data store features are offered By clicking on the + sign, you get to expand a list of available features By clicking on the - sign, you get to collapse the list of features 13 Page

14 By clicking on the name of a feature, you add it to your pricing estimation Some features allow you to have more than one per VM such as the IP address feature - The Pricing Details section allows you to see what features you have chosen. You can remove a feature by clicking on: - The final estimation will show at the bottom of the page and is a monthly estimation (VAT + Taxes NOT included) In the FAQ menu, we have added and will keep on adding additional information that we are not able to provide via user guides. We will also add questions or concerns that customers may have and that we feel like other customers may need to be informed of. The FAQ section allows you to search by Keywords and filter by Category. The FAQ may redirect you to a video, to a PDF, or just provide a short answer to a question. Please make sure to check our FAQ section first before contacting the LSA support. In case you may have a concern, a question, a request, or others, the Inquiry menu allows you to send us your inquiry through a web form. Make sure to choose the category of your inquiry and briefly describe it. LSA will get back to you ASAP once the inquiry is 14 Page

15 received. Here are the available categories: The Billing menu allows you to review your current and former invoices. You also have a summary of your User Information. 15 Page

16 You can find your Personal menu by clicking on the below icon located on the top right corner of your Web Portal: The My Account menu provides a summary of your information that was registered. Some information can be updated such as the First Name and the Last Name of the contact person, the phone number, and the Contact Address (in case you may need to receive information some other place than your main address). If the payment type is by Credit Card, you may also Update Credit Card information. Once information has been modified, make sure to Save: then Confirm on the next page: 16 Page

17 Once saved and confirmed, you should be able to see that the operation was successful. The SSH Key Pair menu is where you can Generate or Upload a SSH key to be used with a Linux OS To Generate a SSH Key: - Click on Generate SSH Key - Enter a Key Name for the SSH Key: 17 Page

18 - Click on Generate - Before clicking on OK, make sure to copy the whole Private Key then click OK afterwards. Save the Private Key into a.txt file in order to use it and create your.ppk file later on. 18 Page

19 - Your new key should now show up: - Once you have a SSH Key generated from the Web Portal, you need to create a Private Key on your local machine - In our example, we are going to use PuttyGen with the simplest options. The tool is available for download at: - Once downloaded, run PuttyGen. 19 Page

20 - Click on Conversions, then Import Key - Find the.txt file where you have previously saved your generated SSH key in and click on Open - Click on Save private key - In our case, we will not use a passphrase, but it is up to you to use one or not 20 Page

21 - Save the private key with extension.ppk - You have now finished generating your SSH Key and created your Private Key on your local machine. To learn how to connect via SSH Key go to 7.2 Connect via SSH Key - To Upload a SSH Key: - You need to have generated a SSH Key via another tool. In our example, we will use PuttyGen available for download at - Run PuttyGen - Click on Generate 21 Page

22 - Move your mouse over the blank area as requested to generate a random key - Copy the full random key that was generated and save it somewhere for use in a future step 22 Page

23 - Click on Save private key - In our case, we will not use a passphrase, but it is up to you to use one or not - Save the private key with extension.ppk - On the Web Portal, open the Personal menu and click on SSH Key Pair then click on Upload SSH Key 23 Page

24 - Add a Key Name, then paste the Public Key that was generated and saved earlier via PuttyGen - Click on Upload, your SSH Key should then show up - You have now finished uploading your SSH Key and created your Private Key on your local machine. To learn how to connect via SSH Key go to 7.2 Connect via SSH Key The Change Password menu allows you to change the password of the Web Portal account. The password must: - Contain one uppercase - Contain one lowercase - Contain one numeric - Be of at least 8 alphanumeric characters 24 Page

25 Once the new correct password has been entered and re-confirmed: You should also have received a notification by that your password has been changed: 25 Page

26 The Sub Account menu allows you to check and add additional users that can manage your Web Portal account. Note: Some features may not be available for sub account owners via the Web Portal, but the features may still be available to them via the GIOCloud Portal. To add a user, enter First Name, Last Name, and address. Then click on the + sign: Confirm by clicking on Submit: Once the user has been successfully added, a confirmation window will appear and an will be sent to the owner of the sub account. The sub account will only be activated once the sub account owner has verified the link sent to him and has chosen his password. 26 Page

27 Once the password has been set, the user can login into the account and the sub account user will show in the Sub Account menu. To logout, just click on the Logout Menu and confirm 27 Page

28 On the home page of the Web Portal, click on Catalog from the top menu. You should then be able to see all available templates and an option to Create a new VM from your ISO file as well. You can move your mouse over each logo to see what type of option is available. Click on Create below any template or on Create below ISO. Note: To create a new VM based on your ISO file, you first need to upload it from the GIOCloud Portal. Please see the GIOCloud Portal guide to add an ISO file. Once you have clicked on Create of any templates, you need to enter: - Step 1: Virtual Machine Name Host Name, Display Name, and Group Name. These are optional, but if a field is missing, random values will be assigned. It is advised to fill up these names. 28 Page

29 - Step 2: XXXXXXX Version Select the OS version depending on the type of OS you have chosen in the previous page. - Step 3: Virtual Machine Specification Select your type of subscription. First select Hourly or Monthly then select the type of computing resources by clicking on Select. Computing options are available by dragging the cursor from left to right. 29 Page

30 - Step 4: Network If you have never created a network before, a default network will be automatically created by the system for you to choose. This network will be automatically assigned with one free public IP (only first IP is free). - Step 5: SSH Key Pair (Optional and only available if a Linux template is chosen) Step 5 allows you to Select an SSH key (provided that you already have one saved on your portal), Generate an SSH key, or Upload an SSH Key. To know more on how to set up an SSH key, see chapter about SSH key. Note: One of the advantages this method has over traditional password authentication is that you can be authenticated by the server without ever having to send your password over the network. Anyone eavesdropping on your connection will not be able to intercept and crack your password because it is never transmitted. Additionally, using SSH keys for authentication virtually eliminates the risk posed by brute-force password attacks. - Final Step: Billing Estimation Note: the first Public IP is free of charge and the total price shown here is just an estimation. Make sure to check your end-of-month invoice for the real charge 30 Page

31 Once all the steps have been reviewed, click on Create VM Review the terms and conditions and click on I Agree to create/provision your new VM Wait a moment without Refreshing or Closing the page 31 Page

32 Next page allows you to assign an existing Public IP Address to the VM or not (optional). You can also acquire a new Public IP Address if needed. Note: first Public IP Address is free and if you acquire a new Public IP Address here, that one will be charged. Click on Finish to go back to the dashboard. If the system has not finished provisioning your VM, the logo of the VM on the dashboard should be greyed out Once the VM has been provisioned and automatically started by the system, the logo of the VM should be colorful. Additionally, you will be able to see the Gateway Internal IP Address of your Virtual Router. In the meantime, once your VM has been provisioned, you should have received 2 s: - One for your new subscription - One with the credentials to connect to your VM. Login: root for Linux systems and administrator for 32 Page

33 Windows systems You can Switch On/Off the VM, Destroy the VM, Reset the VM password, or Edit the name of the VM Select the VM and click on the switch button. If the VM is off, it will be turned on. If the VM is on, it will be turned off. Note: To see if a VM is ON or OFF, check the color of the logo on the VM. If the logo is colorful, the VM is ON else if it is greyed out, it is OFF. 33 Page

34 Confirm to switch OFF the VM Confirm to switch ON the VM Select the VM and click on the trash bin button. Note: This will completely delete the VM, the operation is irreversible and you will not be able to recover any of it. Confirm to destroy the VM 34 Page

35 First, to reset the password, you need to turn off the VM. Then, once the VM has been turned off, click on the lock button. Confirm to reset the root/administrator password of the VM. Once you click on Reset, a new password will be sent to the that was registered for the account. The new password is also display on a new pop-up window. Select the VM and click on the small pencil icon next to the name of the VM. or 35 Page

36 Modify the name and click on the check mark to validate or on the cross to cancel. or 36 Page

37 There are different ways of accessing your VMs. It also depends on the type of OS you are using. To access a VM via console, the only possible way is to access it through the GIOCloud Portal. Please see LeapGIO_NGPGIOCloudPortalUserGuide.pdf to access your VM via console. Once the SSH key has been generated from or uploaded to the Web Portal (see chapter 5.2 SSH Key Pair) or to the GIOCloud Portal follow the below instructions. Two steps: - First the VM needs to be assigned the SSH Key: o If you are planning to create a new Linux OS VM, you can select the SSH key that was just created directly during the creation of the VM o If you have already created your Linux OS VM and would like to assign a SSH key that was created afterwards, you need to use the GIOCloud Portal to assign that key to an already created Linux OS VM since this feature is NOT available on the Web Portal (see LeapGIO_NGPGIOCloudPortalUserGuide.pdf) - Second, follow the instructions below: o In our case, we are going to use Putty which is available for download at: o Run Putty once downloaded o Enter Public IP address (available on the Web Portal) and Port number (default is 22 for SSH). Select SSH Connection Type. Note: Network Security rule should be assigned via the Web Portal for SSH connection to be used. 37 Page

38 Below is a standard Network Security rule that allows connection through port 22 for your reference o On the left menu, go to Connection => SSH => Auth then add the Private Key file (.ppk) o Go back to Session and click on Open 38 Page

39 o If this is the first time you connect, a warning should pop-up, click on YES to accept o You should then be able to input the root login o If all steps were executed correctly, you should then be able to SSH to your Linux OS VM without having to type your password Note: this chapter only explained how to access your VM using a SSH connection. To be able to fully use your Linux OS VM, you may need to configure more features which are available on the GIOCloud Portal. 39 Page

40 To RDP to your Windows OS VM from your local machine, it involves the use of the GIOCloud Portal as well. However, some steps can first be performed from the Web Portal. Note: this chapter only explains how to access your VM using RDP connection. To be able to fully use your Windows OS VM, you may need to configure more features which are available on the GIOCloud Portal. From the Dashboard, click on IP Address List and assign a new rule (in our example, we use the default RDP port 80). Assigning this rule allows firewall access through port 80 and port forwarding through port 80. This can also be done separately through the GIOCloud Portal. To be able to allow remote connection from inside the Windows OS, you need to console to the VM and the console option is only available from the GIOCloud Portal. See LeapGIO_NGPGIOCloudPortalUserGuide.pdf or the FAQ section to learn how to do so. To be able to open the firewall port from inside the Windows OS, you need to console to the VM and the console option is only available from the GIOCloud Portal. See LeapGIO_NGPGIOCloudPortalUserGuide.pdf or the FAQ section to learn how to do so. In our example, we use Remote Desktop Connection. - Launch Remote Desktop Connection which is installed on all Windows OS by default 40 Page

41 - Enter the Public IP address - For the User name, click on Show Options and enter.\administrator. If this step is skipped, a window will popup requesting for credentials and you can enter it at that moment If all steps were executed correctly, you should then be able to remote to your Windows OS VM 41 Page
