This product has bee certified ad tested agaist the followig cliets: Netscape 4.75 Outlook Express 5.5 Lotus Notes R5 MS Outlook 98 MS Outlook 2000 The Thi Cliet has bee certified ad tested agaist the followig cliets: Netscape 4.75 MS Iteret Explorer 5.0+ Kow Limitatios The followig are kow limitatios for Oracle Server Release 5.2: If a productio system is upgraded from 4.3, 4.2, or ay other versio prior to 5.0, the system ca cotai udelivered messages that the ew 5.2 server o loger processes. This is because the ew versio of the server uses a more efficiet method of mail delivery that is ot compatible with the old algorithm. As a solutio, cofigure a postma istace with the NOTIFICATION parameter set to value 1. Ru the postma istace for oe day to clear up all old udelivered messages. This istace ca be deregistered sice the NOTIFICATION parameter is o loger used i Oracle Server 5.2. Do ot use spaces i object ames. Use a uderscore istead of the space. This does ot apply for descriptios or address lies. For example, use Joh_ Smith istead of Joh Smith. 2

3 If the timeout for the IMAP messagig sessio is shorter tha the timeout for the Web Cliet JSP sessio, a exceptio message may appear. Re-logi will correct the problem. For the Moitor Charts, whe server is deistalled ad istalled, the NT deistall of the server Data Gatherer cartridge does ot update the svppcart.dat file by removig the existig lie for the MS5 cartridge (i.e MS5 ALL libvpxmx5 vpxms5.svppcart.dat) i ORACLE_HOME\odg directory. Because of this duplicate etry i svppcart.dat file, Data gatherer may ot be started from Services. Remove the duplicate etry ad it should work. Kow Bugs The followig bugs are kow to exist i Oracle Server Release 5.2: : A JSP error occurs whe opeig folders cotaiig ISO ecoded Russia messages : The database custom istallatio does ot istall the Oracle itermedia optio. This may cause Oracle Server istallatio to ot eable itermedia related APIs i Oracle Server : Replicatio of ame service ito a LDAP server does ot work i multi-domai sites.the RESULTING_MIGRATION_DOMAIN parameter is ot correctly read i by idividual istaces of the IOODSSYNC process (sychroizatio from Server to the LDAP server). Note: ODSIOSYNC uses the RESULTING_MIGRATION_DOMAIN parameter correctly so o special workaroud is eeded. Workaroud: Override the global RESULTING_MIGRATION_DOMAIN parameter with a idividual Server perso object parameter ldapusersuffix. Accouts that use the Server directory as the source to populate a LDAP directory should have the perso object parameter set for all idividual users before sychroizig : The imcofig file fails at the ed of the istallatio whe the value of shared_pool_size is specified with a suffix, such as 150M. Error message retured is sql error, check cofiguratio of ode, failed iteral represetatio. The sql statemet that returs the error is: SELECT value FROM v$parameter WHERE UPPER(ame) = SHARED_POOL_SIZE Workaroud: Chage the iit.ora value to be the full iteger represetatio, e.g 150M chages to The followig bugs are kow to exist i the Thi Cliet: 3

4 : The NT versio of OID causes a problem whe updatig data via JNDI. Sice the WebMail cliet updates the user s prefereces data usig JNDI, a error is displayed if WebMail is cofigured to ru agaist the NT versio of OID. We recommed that a o-nt versio of OID be used : Accouts with more tha 200 folders caot be opeed : MSIE rich composer does ot work o Macitosh platforms : Netscape browser will sometimes oly prit the first visible page of iformatio ad ot the etire message view : If a message has its priority chaged to high by the Server Side Rules, the chage i priority is ot displayed through the Thi Cliet : Rules whose ame legth is greater tha 80 characters will cause a problem : The message search criteria uses 1000 bytes as 1K while the search query uses 1024 bytes as 1K for data retured : Folder ames with %,, ", ad space cause problems ad should ot be used : Netscape Messeger cliet will ot display high priority messages as high priority if received from the Thi Cliet. MS Outlook cliets will display high priority correctly : Special characters (ASCII ) i the message body are ot supported : If the sessio times out durig message compositio, use the back butto to retur to the message compose scree ad copy the text of your message to your clipboard. Re-logi, avigate to the compose message tab, ad paste the text ito the widow : Web Cliet is ot NLS compliat. Folders created with aother cliet ad the folder ame cotaiig NLS characters, are ot displayed : Whe usig MSIE: Text disappears if it is set with a backgroud color. Kow Third Party Cliet Limitatios The followig are kow limitatios i third party cliets : I Netscape 4.72 ad 4.74 Solaris versios of the cliet, whe a message cotaiig HTML text is forwarded as a attachmet, the text i the origial message is either missig or corrupted ad caot be read : Users sedig messages usig Lotus Notes will fid that a set message is placed ito the set folder ad the wastebasket. 4

5 Messagig Storage Parameters Durig the Oracle Server istallatio, there are 4 tablespaces created to accommodate Server schema objects. The tablespace ames are OFC_MESG, OFC_MAIN, OFC_INDB ad OFC_INDS. These tablespaces are created with low extet values. All Oracle Server schema tables ad idexes i these tablespaces iherit their storage parameters from the tablespaces. There are several tables ad idexes that grow rapidly ad will require their ext extet value to be icreased as a post-istallatio task. Some of such these tables ad idexes are listed below. Note: These tables are for iteral use of Oracle Server ad must ot be accessed directly. 6 Depedig upo the size of your istallatio, select large ext extet values to keep the total umber of extets less tha 1000 i a segmet. To chage ext extets o these tables ad idexes do the followig: 1. Ru SQL*Plus as user OO_MAIL. 2.
