Attaching audio files to an in Angel Step One: Downloading Audacity Before you are able to create an audio recording to attach to an you must download a free program online. Go to the following site and follow the download directions below exe?use_mirror=voxel When at the site you will see the following screen. Scroll through the page until you find the Minnesota host with this icon: (NOTE: do not click on this link. Click on the link to the right, in the Download Column.
To begin download make sure you click on the download link pointed out below. After clicking on the download link this screen will appear.
The following screen will appear and ask you whether to save the program or not, Choose SAVE. (NOTE: This may take a few minutes to begin, depending on your Internet connection) After choosing SAVE you will have to determine where the program will be saved. Save it to your desktop so you can find it later.
When you click on SAVE the download will begin. (NOTE: This may take a few minutes, depending on connection speed.) When the download has finished just close the window. Now that you have downloaded Audacity look for the program on your computer. (Depending on where you saved it to, preferably the Desktop) Look for this icon and double click on it: You will be asked if you want to run the program. Select RUN.
Since you are running Audacity for the first time you will need to accept it s terms of use and initialize the program. Read the information and choose NEXT to complete the different steps of the setup. Step Two: Recording in Audacity Now that download and setup are complete you are ready to record in Audacity. Open the program and you will see the following window. Click on the RED record button to begin recording your audio.
When your recording is complete click on the YELLOW stop button. When you have stopped the recording, choose File, Export as WAV. When exporting you will be asked where you want to save the file. Choose whatever you would like, just make sure you will be able to find it later.
When it has been saved to the specified location, check to make sure it is there. Click on the file when you find it and drag it into itunes. It will appear in your Library. Step Three: Compressing the Audio file. In order to attach the Audio file to an in Angel you will also need to compress it to a smaller size. Open itunes to do this. With the itunes window open click on Edit Preferences. You will see the following: Click on the Advanced tab Importing. Choose to Import Using MP3 Encoder set it to compress at 64 kbps under Setting Custom. When you have done this click OK and the itunes window will remain open. Click on the Audio file that you created, located in the Library. With the Audio file highlighted click Advanced on the menu bar and choose Convert to MP3. You will then see a copy of your Audio file appear
underneath the original. Click on the copy and drag it to the Desktop. Now move to step 4. Step four: Attaching your recording to an in Angel. Login into Angel and enter the course you wish to send the audio message in. When you have entered the desired course, click on Communicate located in the Menu bar at the top of the Angel screen. From the Communicate Screen choose Send Course Mail. The Send Course Mail screen will appear and open a new message. Choose who you would like to send the message to (highlight the name in the Recipients window and click the To button) and type the text of your message
in the Subject and Message boxes. When your message is done, you will then need to attach your audio recording. Click on the Attachments button at the top of the screen. (Shown in picture above) The Attachment window will open as shown below.
Select Browse. Find your audio recording and select Open. The file window will close and you will see the Attachment window once again. This time it will show the path of your audio file in the Upload a file box. Click Upload File.
After selecting Upload File the audio recording will then appear in the Uploaded Files box. NOTE: It may take a few seconds to upload the file, depending on the recording s size. Select Finished. After you have clicked on Finished the file will then appear in the original screen. Your message is now ready to be sent.
