1 Summary This dcument is a guide intended t guide yu thrugh the prcess f installing and cnfiguring PepleTls (r current versin) via Windws Remte Applicatin (App). Remte App allws the end user t run Windws-based nvisin client as a remte applicatin n a central server. Prerequisites Remte Desktp Client n yur PC Previus SFS PT versin client Firewall access Firewall Infrmatin Campuses likely will have an inbund firewall and sme might have an utbund firewall. It is uncertain if inbund firewall(s) will need t be updated but the utbund firewalls, fr thse that have them, will certainly need the fllwing changes: Campuses that access the SFS nvisin Windws-based client need t allw utbund traffic t: sfsclient.dit.wisc.edu [ ] This change will be implemented n 5/6/18. The steps are the same fr App Designer and Data Mver clients. Frm the , save the attached Cnfiguratin_Manager_855##.rdp and nvisin_855##.rdp files t yur wrkstatin desktp. 1

2 Imprtant nte: If the.rdp files lk like pdf icns instead f mnitrs, yu will need t set yur defaults fr this file type by cmpleting the fllwing: (If they lk like mnitrs, yu have saved them t yur desktp successfully. Please skip t Part 2.) Right click n the icn. Select Open with, then Chse default prgram 2

3 Select Remte Desktp Cnnectin, make sure the Always use the selected prgram t pen this kind f file bx is checked and click OK. Yur icns shuld nw lk like mnitrs. Part 2- Cnfigure the Client: On yur desktp, duble click the Cnfiguratin_Manager_85525.rdp (mnitr icn) t begin the setup f yur nvisin Client. 3

4 The belw message may appear. If s, click Cnnect. We recmmend that yu click the Dn t ask me again fr cnnectins t this cmputer ptin. Yu may see the fllwing dialg bx. If s, check Dn t ask me again fr cnnectins t this cmputer. Then, click Yes. If yu see this dialg bx, click OK. 4

5 Windws Authenticatin Next, the Windws Security credential validatin prmpt will appear. If yu are an existing client user, lg in using the credentials yu wuld nrmally use t lg in. If the default user ID lks different, click the Use anther accunt ptin and re-enter the username and passwrd yu nrmally use. Fr NetID users nly- (If yu d nt have a NetID, skip t step #8.) Enter yur netid@login.wisc.edu and crrespnding NetID passwrd. Then check the Remember my credentials bx, and click OK. Please nte: The user ID prtin (befre symbl) MUST be in lwer case and the 5

6 LOGIN.WISC.EDU MUST be in all caps exactly as shwn belw. Fr users wh DO NOT have a NetID Yu will need t use DOIT\FLastname_sfs t lg in (where F= yur first name initial). Fr example, Rbert Smith wuld type in DOIT\RSmith_sfs. Case des nt matter in this instance. This is a unique Windws accunt setup fr yu by the SFS prject. If yu d nt remember this passwrd, fr help uwsaprblemslvers@uwsa.edu. If yu are nt able t successfully lg in t the Windws Security authenticatin in Step 1 abve, please g t the Windws Authenticatin Help sectin (page 11). If applicable, check the Remember my credentials bx, and click OK. Yu will see the fllwing screen pp up as yu are being cnnected t the remte server. T see yur prgress, click Shw Details. 6

7 An instance f Cnfiguratin_Manager_85525 applicatin will launch. Cnfiguratin Manager Once Cnfiguratin Manager has launched, click the Imprt/Exprt tab. Then click, the Imprt Frm a File buttn. The fllwing screen will pen. On the Data (E:) drive, yu shuld see the client_install_85525.cfg file. Select the client_install_8552.cfg file and click Open. 7

8 NOTE: If the crrect directry desn t autmatically pen, yu may have t click the This PC t see the drive, then navigate t E:\sfs\ClientInstall. t the left f 8

9 A warning message will appear, click OK and then Apply. Navigate t Client Setup tab and cnfirm that all 6 Shrtcut Links are checked. Check the Install Wrkstatin check bx and click Apply. 9

10 Click OK when the Wrkstatin Installatin Cmplete message appears. Then click OK t clse cnfiguratin manager. OPTIONAL STEP- Persnalizing Yur EMPLID Repen the Cnfiguratin Manager file by duble clicking the icn. Click the Startup tab, if yu are nt defaulted there. (#1 belw) Verify that the Database Type is set t Applicatin Server and the Applicatin Server Name is SFS. (#2 belw) In the User ID field, type yur EMPLID.(#3 belw) Click Apply, then OK.(#4 belw) 10

Nn NetID Users If yu d nt have a NetID and are nt able t lg int the Windws Security authenticatin, please cntact UWSA Prblem Slvers fr assistance. (Please use this link. It has a relevant subject line t help triage and expedite yur request.) NetID Users If yu are having issues lgging in r yu d nt knw yur username r passwrd, NetID users can d ne f the fllwing: Check Yur Passwrd- Yur NetID is used t lg int vic and MyUW. Yu can lg int either lcatin t test the accuracy f yur passwrd. Change Yur Passwrd- Self Help- G t Lg in t the NetID Accunt Mdificatin page. If yu cannt lg in here, g t Get Help belw. Click the Change Yur NetID Passwrd link. Fllw the directins n the webpage t update yur NetID passwrd. Get Help- If yu d nt knw yur NetID passwrd: G t Click Frgt passwrd. 11

12 Prvide yur NetID, date f birth and infrmatin frm yur Wiscard, fllwing the nscreen directins. Answer yur security questin(s). 12

13 Verify yur address n file. Yu will receive a verificatin . Fllw the directins t recver yur NetID passwrd. If yu need additinal passwrd help, please call the DIT Help Desk. Fr security reasns, passwrd reset requests made t the DIT Help Desk must be made by the user themselves and must nly be dne via phne. Part 3- Oracle Authenticatin: Nw back n yur desktp, duble click the newly created icn fr nvisin_85525 (.rdp file). Yu may r may nt see the next windw depending n if yu checked Dn t ask me again fr cnnectins t this cmputer ptin. If s, click Cnnect. 13

14 Next, an Oracle lgin screen shuld appear. Pick yur envirnment frm the Applicatin Server Name list if it des nt default t SFS. Enter yur lgin credentials. Yur EMPLID shuld be defaulted frm the actins taken in step 11 abve, if cmpleted. The passwrd is the same as yur backdr (PSA) website lgn t SFS. Click the fllwing link t test yur credentials. If yu can lg int the backdr (PSA), yu shuld be able t lg int the client. If yu need t have yur backdr (PSA) passwrd reset, please call the helpdesk at The startup f the Windws-based client may take frm a few secnds up t a few minutes. Yu will see this splash screen while lading: Please the uwsaprblemslvers@uwsa.edu if startup perfrmance is mre than a few minutes. Once the nvisin client lads yu will see the screen belw. nvisin is an excel based tl that pulls data frm PepleSft based n the rules that yu set up. Remember, this is nvisin running n a Remte Applicatin Server and NOT lcally n yur machine. 14

15 Ntes Abut Lcal Drives and Printers: Remte App uses yur lcal Remte Desktp Client t make its cnnectins. This client has its wn settings. If yu have nt mdified them, yu will see yur lcal drives and lcal printers listed within yur Remte App cnnectin. When yu interact with a file by either pening it r saving it, yu shuld ntice yur lcal drives in the dialg bx. They will appear in the frmat C n <cmputer_name> where C is the drive alias letter and <cmputer_name> is yur cmputer s name. This may be a name assigned by yur PC supprt staff. Yu shuld see ne drive letter n the remte server fr each drive yu have n yur lcal PC. 15
