3 6. Cookies When you visit our website whether to view the information or to visit our Online Shop cookies are stored on your computer. Cookies are small text files stored in an orderly way on your hard drive with reference to your browser and through which certain information is fed to the entity which places the cookie (in other words, to us or a third-party supplier). We use cookies in part to make our internet site more user-friendly and effective overall and to allow you to be identified during subsequent visits. A series of analysis tools and online advertisers as described below also use cookies. This website uses cookies as follows: Transient cookies (temporary use) Persistent cookies (limited-time use) Third-party cookies (of other suppliers). Transient cookies are automatically deleted when you close the browser. This includes session cookies in particular. These cookies store a so-called "session ID" with which various enquiries from your browser can be associated with the common session. This allows your computer to be recognised when you return to the website. We use this type of cookie to safeguard the operation and functioning of our website. Session cookies are deleted when you log off or close the browser. Persistent cookies are automatically deleted after a predetermined period which may vary depending on the cookie. We use this type of cookie to increase the user-friendliness of our site by storing userspecific settings. Third-party cookies are those which are placed and collected by a third party. We use this type of cookie for handling payments in our Burlington Online Shop and for advertising. The relevant web beacons are allocated to your address and linked to their own ID. Links included in the newsletter also contain these individual IDs. We use the data gained in this way to build a user profile from which we draw conclusions as to your personal interests so that we can then provide you with a newsletter which is customized to suit your particular interests. We link the collected data with
4 the other data held concerning you. We are using the services of Mapp Digital Germany GmbH for sending the newsletters and analysis described above. You are able to refuse this form of tracking at any time without formality by sending an to As a rule, you can also prevent this kind of tracking by deactivating as standard the display of images in the program which is used on your computer. However, in this case you will not receive the complete display of the newsletter and you may possibly not be able to access all the functions. The consent you give when logging on to the newsletter is expressed as follows: "I would like to receive the Burlington newsletter and agree to FALKE regularly sending me interesting offers and information for advertising purposes to the address given by me. My address will not be forwarded to other companies. I furthermore consent to the analysis of my reading behaviour in the context of receiving the newsletter. This will be undertaken by means of so-called "web beacons" in the that automatically transmit information on when the newsletter is read and which of the links are clicked. With the data gained in this way, a user profile of me is created in order to allow the newsletter to be tailored to my individual interests. The data collected are linked to other data stored about me and assembled to form a user profile. I may at any time withdraw my permission to receive the newsletter and for the usage analysis with future effect by clicking on the link "Unregister" at the end of the newsletter or sending a corresponding to online@burlington.de. Tools used for analysis We find it important to make our internet presence as good as possible and so to make it attractive to our visitors. For this it is necessary to know how our visitors regard it. To analyse this we use the following tools: a) Google Analytics This Internet site uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA ("Google"). Google Analytics uses "cookies", in other words text files that are saved on your computer to help analyse how you use our site. The information generated by the cookie concerning your use of this website is generally transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, if IP anonymisation has been activated on this website, Google will first shorten your IP address within European Union Member States or in other signatory states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. Google uses this information on our behalf in order to analyse the use of our website by you so as to compile reports on website activities and provide additional services associated with the use of the website and Internet use for us as the operator of the site. The IP address transferred by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be combined with other Google data. Our websites use Google Analytics with the extension "_anonymizeip()". This means that IP addresses are processed in shortened form and so any direct reference to individuals can thus be excluded. You can prevent cookies from being stored by using a corresponding setting in your browser software. However, as a precaution you should be aware that you then may possibly not be able to use all the functions on the website.
5 In addition, you may block the collection and processing by Google of the data produced by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available from the following link Google Analytics is operated by Google Inc., Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. You can find more information on data protection in relation to Google Analytics at: b) Google Conversion Tracking This website also uses Google Conversion Tracking, a service of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA ("Google"). Google Adwords places a cookie on your computer if you reach our website via a Google ad. These cookies become invalid after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. If the user visits certain parts of the website of the Adwords customer and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and the customer are able to recognise that the user has clicked on the advert and been forwarded to this site. Each Adwords customer is allotted a different cookie. Cookies cannot therefore be tracked via the websites of Adwords customers. The use of the information obtained through the Conversion cookie serves to generated conversion statistics for Adwords customers which have opted for conversion tracking. The Adwords customers find out the total number of users who have clicked on their advert and were relayed to a site bearing a Conversion Tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information which would allow users to be personally identified. If you do not wish to participate in the tracking process, you can also refuse to accept cookies a browser setting can be used which will generally deactivate the automatic setting of third-party cookies. You can also deactivate cookies for conversion tracking by setting your browser to block cookies from the domain " Google's data protection notes on conversion tracking are available here. c) Google TagManager Google Tag Manager, a service provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA ("Google"), is a solution with which marketers are able to manage website tabs via an interface. The Tag Manager tool itself which places the tags is a cookie-free domain and does not collect personal data. However, the tool does lead to the triggering of other tags which for their part may possibly collect data. However, Google Tag Manager itself does not access the data. If a deactivation is set at the domain or cookie level, it exists there for all tracking tags implemented with Google Tag Manager. You will find further information in the guidelines on use of this service. 9. Usage-based online advertising services We use the company Criteo SA to collect data on usage-based online advertising. This service provider collects information about your activities on our website (e.g. surfing, visits to sub-pages etc.) and combines it into pseudonymous usage profiles. These profiles are then used for the purpose of usage-controlled display of advertising. This service use "cookies" for this, i.e. text files that are stored on your computer and enable how you use our site to be analysed. All the usage data are stored using a pseudonym so that personal identification is prevented. Your computer's IP address that has to be transmitted for technical reasons is not stored and is not used for the controlled display of advertising. If you do not wish your data to be used or pseudonymous usage profiles to be formed, you may refuse by clicking on the following opt-out links and deactivating the respective data collection by setting an opt-out cookie. In general you can prevent the collection of the data generated by the cookies about your use of the website by the above-mentioned services by refusing to accept third-party cookies in your browser settings. However, as a precaution you should be aware that this might prevent you from using the full range of functions on our website. You can also delete cookies again at any time. However, please note that after deleting all the cookies in your browser you may again have to set the opt-out cookies generated using the opt-out link.
