1 Tenafly Technology Department Web Outlook If you would like to begin using the Web-based Outlook service to check your remotely, you can do so immediately by visiting the Tenafly School District main page ( Click on the Web Resources button at the left side of the screen and then click on Web Outlook. A login screen will appear requesting user information in one of two ways, depending on the version of Windows that is installed on your computer: Windows XP Login Screen: Windows 2000 & Windows ME: Type tps\ and your username in the first block. Type your network password in the second block. (Make sure to type a backslash, not a forward slash between tps and your user name. Then click OK. Type your username and password in the appropriate spaces and then type tps in the Domain space. Click OK. 1
2 The Mailbox Viewer Menu Bar Internet Explorer Tool Bar Internet Explorer Address Bar Click here to select the Folders view. Click on the New button to compose (the screen below appears) Creating a New Message You can either click ok the To button to look up an address or type the address in the To field. The Cc (carbon copy) and Bcc (blind carbon copy) fields work the same way as the To field. Type a relevant subject in the Subject field. To attach a file, click on the paper clip icon or the Attachments: button. Locate the file that you would like to attach and double click on it. When you have completed your message, re-read it before clicking on the Send button. 2 Type your message here.
3 Reading and Deleting Messages Locate the message you want to read from the list of and double-click on it. To delete a message from the mailbox window, select the message and then click the Delete button. Replying to and Forwarding Messages Click here to reply to all recipients of the current message. The new message box opens with the name or of the original sender and all other recipients in the To box. Click here to reply to the sender of the current message. The new message box opens with the name or of the sender appearing in the To box and a copy of the original message in the message body, with a divider and space above it where you can type your message. Click here to forward the current message to one or more recipients. The original message will appear in the message body with a space above it where you can type your message. Type in the forwarding address to send the message to one or more recipients. 3
4 Using the Global Address List Begin by clicking the New button to compose a new message (shown on page 2 above.) Click the To button to access the Find Names dialog box. You can type the first few letters of someone s last name in the Last Name field and click enter on your keyboard (or click the Find button on the screen). A list of possible names will appear. You must click the name you wish to use and then click the To, Cc or Bcc button at the bottom to add that person to the recipient list. You must then click Close to continue typing your . 4
5 Creating/Using Distribution Lists As in the full desktop version of Outlook, you are able to create and use distribution lists or groups of contacts to all at once. Using the navigation on the bottom left side of the screen, click on Contacts. If you have created Groups while at work, then you will see them listed. To send an to a group, double-click the group name. In the box that appears, all group members will be listed. At the top, click the Send mail to list button which appears with an envelope icon. 5
6 To create a brand new distribution list, click the down arrow next to the New button and choose Distribution List from the drop down. Name the group in the List Name field and then populate the list by clicking the Find Names button and using the Global Address List. As described earlier, find names by typing the first few letters in a person s last name, in the Last Name field and clicking Find. When you have located the name on the list provided, make sure to add the name to the distribution list using the button at the bottom. Continue finding names and adding them to the list as needed. Click Close when finished finding names. Click Save and Close to complete the distribution list creation. 6
