1 Using UB Stream and UBlearns Instructrs can nw uplad vides/audi r create a vide using their webcam in UBLearns. There is a new mashup tl (MEDIAL) that allws yu t uplad yur media files t UB s streaming server. This tl can be accessed using the Build Cntent buttn in any Cntent area (example Curse Dcuments, Assignments etc.) r by using the Mashup ptin frm the Cntent Editr The MEDIAL mashup will encde and cnvert yur media s that it is ptimized fr streaming and able t play n mst devices. Vides are cnverted t MP4 frmat and Audi is cnverted t MP3 frmat. Ntes: The fllwing audi/vide extensins are allwed: *.avi;*.flv;*.mkv;*.mv;*.mpg;*.mpeg;*.mp3;*.mp4;*.m4v;*.wav;*.webm;*.wma;*.wmv;*.3gp T manage yur audi/vides yu will need t lg int the streaming server: Stream.buffal.edu Uplading a Vide/Audi **** If yu are lgged int UBlearns and the streaming server at the same time yu culd experience issues managing yur audi/vide file n the streaming server r yu might receive a Currently running LTI errr when trying t play yur audi/vide file in UBlearns. Please make sure yu are lgged int ne service at a time **** Here is an example using the Cntent editr when creating an Assignment G t any cntent area (ex: Curse Dcuments, Assignments etc) Click Assignment frm the Assessments buttn Enter a Name fr the assignment Frm the Cntent Editr click Mashups and select MEDIAL The first time yu perfrm this yu will receive a ne-time windw t lg int the streaming server. Use yur UBITname and passwrd:

2 A windw will pp up that will let yu uplad vides, recrd a vide with yur webcam r access media files that yu previusly upladed 1 Click Uplad 2

3 Click Brwse t find yur file. A prgress bar will shw the percentage f the file that has been upladed. Once the uplad cmpletes, click Next (yu will see this ptin after yu uplad yur file) t enter the details f the vide's metadata. Nte: Yu ll ntice what the maximum allwed uplad size is (the abve is just an example) 3 Enter a Title Select a Categry Persnal cntent cannt be seen r searched fr by anyne but yu, similar t an unlisted vide n YuTube. Yu are able t share links t the audi r vide files in yur Persnal categry r embed them int web pages with the cde prvided. UB Restricted cntent can nly be viewed by peple lgging int the MEDIAL web prtal with UBIT credentials.

4 Enter a Descriptin Tag yur media if yu want t make it easier fr peple t search and find yur media (this feature is fr searching n the streaming server) 4 Select a Thumbnail frm the eight randm thumbnails autmatically extracted. Once the whle file has been upladed, the system will begin t extract thumbnails. Please wait fr the thumbnails t appear n the page a "Lading Thumbnails" icn will appear in the interim. If thumbnails are nt extracted r if yu wuld like t use yur wn image, click Brwse t uplad an image. Images fr thumbnails shuld be 640W x 480H r 320W x 240H; the frmat must be jpg, png r gif. 5

5 T add a Captins File (ptinal), click Brwse t find and uplad it. Please nte that the maximum uplad size fr captin files is 2MB, with a maximum f ne captin file per vide at this time. Allwed file extensins are srt, vtt, dfxp. T add Assciated Files: Yu may add a maximum f three files t be presented with each audi r vide (10MB limit per file). Start typing a Title fr yur Assciated file r URL The text in this title field is what viewers will see. Click Brwse t lcate the file. Check the URL bx t add a web address/url in the field that pens up the site. 6

6 7 Select the Media Size. We recmmend using ne f the fur predefined sizes Click Submit If yu select any f the Styles (Include Dwnlad Link, Shw Title, Shw Descriptin) they will shw up ONLY when yu play the vide Yu will receive an when yu vide is finished encding, yu will then be able t play the vide frm within yur curse. Nte: When yu g t play the vide it might take a little time befre vide actually shws up in the windw that pps up Recrding frm WebCam Nte: The abve prcedure is used. 7 Assciate up t three files r links with any vide Share any vide in UB Stream with a link Embed vides int a blg, webpage r curse Playback supprt fr mbile devices, including iphne, Andrid, and BlackBerry Streaming vides play immediately: n need t wait fr an entire file t dwnlad Faculty and staff may stre a maximum f 2GB f cmpressed vide files Yur upladed file is cnverted int tw "MP4" files: a lw and high quality versin. These cmpressed files cunt against yur strage limit. Yur riginal vide file is discarded (and therefre des NOT cunt against yur strage limit).
