The user interface displays differently n different devices and available screen sizes. The screenshts in this guide were taken n a desktp cmputer, and n widgets that use the entire available screen width, the user interface may differ smewhat n different devices r fr different widget sizes. 6 S E C T I ON 1 Overview f the Kaltura Vide Extensin fr IBM Cnnectins Kaltura has partnered with IBM t ffer and ut-f-the-bx extensin that enables yu t recrd, uplad, publish, search and share vides directly frm yur IBM Cnnectins envirnment. This translates int time and mney saved fr yur rganizatin, imprved cllabratin, training results, secured vide delivery as well as ease f use fr emplyees. Main Features and Tls Uplad and Recrd Easy Vide Uplading - Uplad any type f media (vide, audi, images) using a simple interface. Create webcam vides - Welcme messages, intrductins, assignment instructins, simple demnstratins, and ther webcam media. Screen Recrding Easily recrd the screen, alng with audi and webcam feeds, t create and publish screencasts. Users can recrd and share lectures, presentatins, sftware tutrials, and additinal screencasts. Organize and Share My Media Uplad, manage, assign, and share cntent (based n permissins) with a private media library fr each IBM Cnnectins user. Cmmunity Media Gallery Search r view rich media assigned t a Cnnectins Cmmunity if yu are a member. Media can be added by members, with an ptin fr mderatin by cmmunity managers. Embed Media: Intuitively use rich media withut time-cnsuming training, simply click n the Kaltura icn when creating a blg pst, wiki page r any type f cntent t embed a vide yu create. View and Interact The Kaltura Player: Custmize the player - Functinality, features and display. Cnfigure nce, use everywhere - Mbile, tablet, PC, TV. Open Standards, Open Surce. Files are transcded fr Web, HD, r Mbile Delivery acrss varius devices and platfrms. Player aut detects device and platfrm and adjusts the playback using adaptive bitrate technlgy. 7 Overview f the Kaltura Vide Extensin fr IBM Cnnectins impaired audiences while als enabling in-vide search within the captins. Cmments - Bst nline cnversatins and user engagement by allwing users t cmment n vides. Search - Quickly find vides based n metadata (name, descriptin, tags). In-vide search Uplad captins and then search fr every spken wrd. Search results allw skipping directly t the relevant part in the vide. 8 S E C T I ON 2 Adding the Kaltura Vide Widget t yur Hme Page and Managing Yur Media After yu add the Kaltura Vide Widget t yur hme page, the My Media widget is used t manage yur media. Yur My Media widget lists the media that yu created in additin t all interactins with media as described in Interacting with Media. T add the Kaltura My Media Widget t yur Hme Page In yur Hme page, g t My Page and select the Custmize link. Select the Kaltura My Media widget. Editing Media T edit media d ne f the fllwing: On yur My Media widget, click Edit fr the media yu want t edit. r On the view entry page f a media entry yu created, click Actins and select Edit. Select a frame t use as the media thumbnail, such as when the media is included in a gallery. Uplad and manage yur clsed captin files fr the media. Selecting a Frame t Use as a Thumbnail T select a frame as a thumbnail In the Edit Media windw, click Play in the media player. Pause the player at the frame that yu want t use as a thumbnail. Click the camera icn t use the current frame as the thumbnail. Uplading and Managing Captins Yu can uplad captin files fr yur media items and manage the captins. Users can search the captin texts. Click Uplad captins file. Click Brwse and select an SRT r DFXP captin file. Select the captin language. Enter a label t display fr the file in the captin selectr. The captin selectr displays captin ptins in the media player. Click Save t uplad the file. The file is added t a table n the media page's Captins tab. Managing Captins After yu uplad captins fr a vide, in the captin table yu can: Mdify the captin language r label. Change the default captin file. Delete a captin file. Dwnlad a captin file. T mdify the language r the captin selectr label D ne f the fllwing: On yur My Media page, click Edit fr the media yu want t edit. r On the view entry page f an entry yu upladed, click Actins and select Edit Open the Captins tab t display the captin table. In the captin table, click Change and d the fllwing: T change the language, select a new language in the Language clumn. T change the label, enter new text in the Label clumn. Click the disk icn t update the values. T change the captin file used by default in the media player D ne f the fllwing: On yur My Media page, click Edit fr the media yu want t edit. r On the view entry page f an entry yu upladed, click Actins and select Edit. Open the Captins tab t display the captin table. In the captin table, click n the checkmark icn in the right clumn f a captin rw t Set as default. T delete a captin file D ne f the fllwing: On yur My Media page, click Edit fr the media yu want t edit. On the view entry page f an entry yu upladed, click Actins and select Edit Open the Captins tab t display the captin table. In the captin table, click n the x icn t Delete. 14 S E C T I ON 3 Managing a Cmmunity Media Gallery Cmmunity managers are the managers f the Media Gallery. As a cmmunity manager, yu can perfrm actins that ther members f the cmmunity cannt. These actins include: Cnfiguring settings and setting the descriptin fr the Media Gallery Mderating the cntent added t the Media Gallery Remving cntent frm the Media Gallery All cmmunity members can: View apprved cntent Brwse and search the Media Gallery Add Media (pending the cmmunity manager s mderatin) Remve media they have added T add a Kaltura Cmmunity Media Gallery t yur Cmmunity (available t Cmmunity Managers) In yur cmmunity, select Custmize frm the Cmmunity Actins drp dwn menu. Select Kaltura Cmmunity Media Gallery. Place the widget in the desired area. It is recmmended t place the Kaltura Cmmunity Media Gallery in the main sectin f the cmmunity page. Whether cmments shuld be enabled in the gallery. Click Save. Adding Media t a Cmmunity Media Gallery Yu can add existing media r uplad new cntent. T add existing media t a Cmmunity Media Gallery Click n Add Media. Filter yur cntent. Select ne r mre f the fllwing filtering ptins Select View all Statuses and pick an ptin. The new media items are autmatically published t the Media Gallery they were initiated frm. Mderating Cmmunity Media Gallery Cntent (available t Cmmunity Managers) Cmmunity managers may apprve r reject cntent frm the Media Gallery. T apprve and reject cntent that is pending mderatin In the Media Gallery, click n the Pending tab. The brwse pending media windw is displayed. NOTE: If there are n media items that are pending mderatin, the Pending tab is nt displayed., Click n the thumbnail t view the media. Click Apprve r Reject fr a specific media item, r check multiple media items and click Apprve r Reject n the tp (View All media) fr bulk apprving r rejecting. 21 Interacting with Media T srt cntent In the My Media widget r in a Cmmunity Media Gallery, click ne f the fllwing: Mst Recent Alphabetical Cmments T view cntent In the My Media widget, brwse t the media entry and click the thumbnail r the title f the cntent. 22 Interacting with Media NOTE: On an ios device, a built-in ios media player plays the media. Searching Media and Captins Yu can search: All media based n metadata All strings in captins Searching fr Media Based n Metadata The ability t search metadata and captins is available by entering a search term that yu are lking fr. The results fr metadata are returned by default. The Search feature filters the search string and enables yu t search n captins and within metadata in the Media Galleries. Yu can tggle between the different bjects after yu enter the search term. T search in a Media Gallery r My Media On the Cmmunity Media Gallery r the My Media widget, enter a search string (such as a tag r part f a title) in the Search field. Media with metadata that includes the text is displayed. T clear the search text, click the clear X icn. T search fr strings in captins in a single vide Frm My Media r a Cmmunity Media Gallery, click a vide thumbnail r title. Enter a search term in the Search in Vide search bx under the media player. NOTE: A Search in Vide search bx is displayed nly when the vide includes captins. A result is displayed fr each pint in the vide where the captin text appears. 24 S E C T I ON 5 Creating New Media Yu can create new media frm the My Media widget and in Cmmunity Media Galleries. Yu can: Uplad media Recrd frm webcam Recrd yur screen Uplading Media Yu can uplad media frm the My Media r Cmmunity Media Gallery interface via the Add New menu. 25 Creating New Media Click Chse a file t uplad. In the Select file t uplad windw, select a media file t uplad and click Open. While the file is uplading, n the Uplad Media page yu can: Enter metadata infrmatin abut the media and click Save. Mandatry fields are marked with an asterisk. Click Cancel t cancel the uplad. 26 Creating New Media NOTE: If yu click Save befre the file is cmpletely upladed, the media infrmatin is saved after the media is upladed. T view the media page when uplading is cmplete, select the media frm My Media. Vide Status after Uplad After a vide is upladed, it is cnverted fr ptimal playback. Yu cannt preview r publish a vide during cnversin. If media is waiting fr mderatin, yu cannt preview r publish it until it is apprved. 27 S E C T I ON 6 Recrding frm Webcam Use the Recrd frm Webcam feature t create webcam media such as welcme messages, intrductins, assignment instructins, simple demnstratins, and ther recrdings. T recrd frm a webcam Select Webcam Recrding frm the Add New drpdwn menu. The Recrd frm Webcam page is displayed. In the Recrd frm Webcam windw, click Allw if a Flash player message is displayed. 28 Recrding frm Webcam In the Recrd frm Webcam windw, click anywhere in the recrding area t start recrding. Click anywhere in the recrding area t stp recrding, and click Save. In the Recrd frm Webcam windw, enter infrmatin abut the media and click Save. NOTE: If media is waiting fr mderatin, yu cannt preview r publish it until it is apprved. 29 S E C T I ON 7 Recrding Yur Screen The fllwing lists the basic wrkflw f hw t recrd yur screen: Wrkflw: 1. Select the Screen Recrding ptin. 2. Launch the Screen Recrder. 3. Select the ptins and area t capture, and start recrding. 4. After recrding, review the results and uplad. 5. After uplading, enter metadata. T recrd yur screen Select Screen Recrding frm the Add New drpdwn menu. The Screen Recrding page is displayed. In the Screen Recrding windw, click Launch the screen recrder. In the Screen Recrder, fllw the instructins t recrd yur screen: a. Drag and resize the frame t define the screen area t recrd and enter Alt-P r click the Recrd buttn t begin recrding. b.
