1 NG40 IMS Emulator IMS Emulation for LTE has been added to the ng4t portfolio. The NG40 IMS Emulator is an extension to the NG40 eutran and to the NG40 EPC Emulator. The NG40 eutran Emulator simulates the behavior of millions of mobile subscribers. It is a comprehensive platform for LTE Core verification including VoLTE and all relevant mobility procedures, such as Inter-RAT Handovers, CSFB and SRVCC. The NG40 EPC Emulator is a diagnostic tool for enb manufacturers, UE protocol stack designers and over-the -air application developers. 3 VoLTE The integration of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) with NG40 EPC and NG40 eutran via S1/S1-U has been completed by end Since then it has been validated with various VoLTE capable handsets. NG40 VoLTE contains SIP over UDP and SIP over TCP transport functionality for multiple simulated UE s. SIP Control Plane and User Plane (AMR, AMR-WB) are supported for default and dedicate bearers based on QoS / QCI decisions. IMS Registration after opening a second Default EPS Bearer AMR-WB Voice Data Transmission after Dedicated EPS Bearer Establishment Besides MOC and MTC, the NG40 VoLTE application features additional services like representing an answering machine e.g. downlink streaming of pre-recorded AMR files as announcements, recording and automatic playback of speech messages. SIP Authentication and Key Agreement is implemented acc. to AKAv1-MD5. Authentication credentials (nonce, password) can be parameterized individually per subscribed group. NG40 s VoLTE application has been verified under load & stress in various multivendor labs. The superior voice quality of the NG40 VoLTE implementation has been confirmed with specialized RTP monitoring tools. Jitter and delay are beyond typical network values.
4 QoS / QCI decisions for VoLTE NG40 supports QoS Class Identifiers (QCI) as described in TS NG40 uses QCI = 5 (non-guaranteed bit rate) for opening default bearers (SIP Signalling) and QCI = 1 (guaranteed bit rate) for activating dedicated bearers (RTP voice frames). NG40 supports a substantial number of subscriber profiles. Every mobile subscriber gets an individual QoS profile and Traffic Flow Template (TFT) as depicted below: NG40 QCI / QoS parameterization example Both UE s (calling party and called party) initiate the codec negotiation using the Session Description Protocol (SDP). The NG40 eutran Emulator has an inbuilt SIP/SDP protocol stack for UE SIP-client simulation. NG40 EPC assumes the role of an answering machine for several pre-defined phone numbers. In this case codec negotiation is performed between a real handset and the NG40 internal Media Gateway (MGW).
