Configuring the BANDIT III s E&M Card for a PCM Voice Network The E&M card sits in a slot near the top right rear of the BANDIT III chassis. (A set of alarm ports is also at the top right rear of the chassis.) This document explains how to configure the E&M card in a terminal BANDIT III. See Section 3.1, Configuring the E&M Card in a Terminal BANDIT III. 1 Note: For information about the BANDIT s E&M card, see Specifications for the Four-Wire E&M Card and Table of DIP Switch Settings for the Four-Wire E&M Card. For the pulse-code-modulated (PCM) voice network, you will also need to configure a BANDIT III host that uses a T1 E1 card and a BANDIT III router that uses a T1 E1 card. See Configuring the BANDIT III s T1 E1 Card for a PCM Voice Network. 3.1 Configuring the E&M Card in a Terminal BANDIT III 1 On the Main Menu, select Load Factory Defaults. The following prompt is displayed. Enter System Name : Note: To use the automatic configuration feature, the names of all BANDIT III terminal devices must be the same, and each must end with a unique number. For example, you can name this BANDIT III terminal SITE1, and name the next BANDIT III terminal SITE2, and name the next one SITE3, and so on. 7 Type the BANDIT III s name and press the Enter key. Note: The configuration you just entered is actually being loaded. (The factory default configuration is not being reloaded.) The configuration is not yet active. The new configuration will not be active until it is saved and the BANDIT is restarted. Note: The prompt automatically fills in the IP address that was assigned to the BANDIT in Step 7. Enter Local IP Address (N.N.N.N) : Press Enter to accept the BANDIT s IP address. The menu to Configure System Parameters is redisplayed, with the BANDIT s IP address in place.
