3 1. Introduction 1.1. Purpose of this Document This document is the DICOM Conformance Statement for the Matrix product. The purpose of this document is to describe how the Matrix Server and Client interact with other DICOM devices on the network References ACR-NEMA Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) v3.0, Acronyms and Abbreviations The following acronyms and abbreviations are used in this document. Connectivity Advisory The use of this Conformance Statement by itself does not guarantee successful inter-operability of Matrix with equipment from other vendors. The user or integrator should keep the following issues in mind: 1. Successful inter-operability of Matrix with other devices may require functions that are not specified within the scope of DICOM. 2. 4 2. Matrix Client 2.1. Implementation Model Matrix is a PACS solution that incorporates a powerful new platform based on smart client technology, an effortless user interface, and dynamic peer-to-peer communication tools. It delivers a new level of efficiency and performance to radiologists, clinicians, and referring physicians. Matrix uses DICOM services to: Send print jobs to DICOM printers Receive images Application Data Flow Diagram The Matrix Client DICOM AE behaves as a single Application Entity according to DICOM standard. Figure 1 shows the available interfaces. Matrix can initiate multiple associations concurrently to communicate with multiple printers. Matrix will limit incoming associations (C-STOREs) to five associations Asynchronous Nature Matrix allows a single outstanding operation on any association. Therefore, Matrix does not support asynchronous operations window negotiation, other than the default as specified by the DICOM specification Implementation Identifying Information Matrix will respond with the following implementation identifying parameters. 7 Association Initiation by Real World Activity Matrix will issue a new association with a remote device when images are to be printed Real World Activity - Print Associated Real World Activity - Print Matrix issues a print request when a user wants to print images to a remote DICOM printer Proposed Presentation Contexts - Print For a print request, Matrix will propose the Presentation Contexts listed in Table 4. Communications Profiles Matrix provides DICOM V3.0 TCP/IP Network Communication Support as defined in Part 8 of the DICOM Standard TCP/IP Stack Matrix inherits its TCP/IP stack from the computer system upon which it executes Physical Media Support Matrix is indifferent to the physical medium over which TCP/IP executes; it inherits the medium from the computer system upon which it executes Extensions/Specializations/Privatizations 2.5. Configuration For print services, Matrix obtains configuration information from the configuration file (PrintConfig.xml) which resides in the folder where Matrix was installed. For storage services, Matrix obtains configuration information from the Matrix Server, under client settings Support for Extended Character Sets Matrix does not support any extended character sets. 10 3. Matrix Server 3.1. Implementation Model Matrix Clients connect to the Matrix Server, which provides access to the enterprise. Matrix Server uses DICOM services to: Query other DICOM devices (C-FIND & C-MOVE) 3.2. Application Data Flow Diagram The Matrix Server DICOM AE behaves as a single Application Entity according to DICOM standard. Figure 1 shows the available interfaces. DICOM Standard Interface Matrix Server DICO Server Figure 2 Matrix Application Data Flow Diagram Functional Definitions of Application Entities Query / Retrieve The Matrix Server can act as a proxy between Matrix Client and a DICOM server (which supports C-FIND and C-MOVE as an SCP). Queries originate at Matrix and are transformed into DICOM queries in the Matrix Server (Matrix Server is a SCU of the C-FIND and C-MOVE services) Matrix Server supplies the DICOM server with the AE title of the Matrix Client so images can be moved directly to Matrix Client. 13 3.5. Extensions/Specializations/Privatizations 3.6. Configuration Matrix Server uses the AE title specified in the configuration. This value is in an XML configuration file which can be found in the installation directory (Messaging/HermesService.exe.config).
