Commercial In Confidence About this Document Scope Audience Prerequisites Related documents Changes in this document The scope of this document includes all functionality a user must know in order to effectively operate the [insert application name] application. It does not include detailed design of the service. This guide is written primarily for [insert system name] administrators. However, the overview sections of the document are useful to anyone requiring an introduction. A solid understanding of UNIX and a familiarity with IN concepts are an essential pre-requisite for safely using the information contained in this technical guide. Attempting to install, remove, configure or otherwise alter the described system without the appropriate background skills, could cause damage to the system; including temporary or permanent incorrect operation, loss of service, and may render your system beyond recovery. Although it is not a pre-requisite to using this guide, familiarity with the target platform would be an advantage. This manual describes system tasks that should only be carried out by suitably trained operators. 7 Commercial In Confidence Chapter 1 System Overview Overview Introduction In this chapter This chapter provides a high-level overview of the application. It explains the basic functionality of the system and lists the main components. It is not intended to advise on any specific NCC network or service implications of the product. This chapter contains the following topics. What is Open Services Development?... 2 Typical OSD Configuration Scenario... 3 Service Handlers Open Services Development Page 1

Chapter 1 Commercial In Confidence What is Open Services Development? Introduction Architecture Open Services Development (OSD) enables third parties to submit html (WSDL) files that invoke control plans. This diagram shows the OSD architecture. Page 2 Open Services Development

Commercial In Confidence Chapter 1 Typical OSD Configuration Scenario Introduction Overview Example scenario This example is intended to show the nature of completing an OSD configuration, rather than an exact configuration. Configuration for OSD is an iterative process of: 1 Complete Service Provider tab 2 Complete Operation Sets tab 3 Complete Operation tab 4 Complete Client ASP tab 5 Create Control Plan for each operation 6 Compile Control Plans 7 Review WSDL through Operation screen (for each Control Plan) 8 Review WSDL through Operation Sets screen for the Service Supplier. This scenario uses a control plan that copies data from the incoming SOAP request to the outgoing SOAP result (this is not very useful but is a good illustration of how the software works.) This copies from a short integer tag called ShortLO profile field in the incoming session data (which is mapped from the) SOAP request to a tag called ShortOPLO in the outgoing session data (which is mapped to the SOAP result). The in-coming data is the number 12 in this scenario (see In-coming SOAP message). The data is copied to ShortOPLO and the response returned via an out-going SOAP message. To achieve this: 1 The OSD screens are configured as shown. 2 The control plan is created and compiled 3 The generated WSDL is given to the third party 4 The third party uses the WSDL, by adding the relevant data, and sending the SOAP message to the OSD interface. 5 The OSD interface recognises what control plan to invoke (see In-coming SOAP message). 6 The control plan copies the number and responds to the OSD interface. 7 The OSD interface returns a SOAP message to the third party (see Out-going SOAP message). Service Providers tab Here is the Service Providers tab, configured for the scenario. Continued on next page Open Services Development Page 3

Chapter 1 Commercial In Confidence Typical OSD Configuration Scenario, Continued Service Providers tab (continued) Notes: The UAS port and address configured below must match the VWS eserv.config file triggering section address and port information. The InterfaceName must match the configured OSD interface running on the <box SCP_ac> SLEE. Operation Sets tab Here is the Operation Sets tab, configured for the scenario. Note: The service to invoke is the capability that will be triggered on the SLC SLEE. For example, if the CCS service loader is used, this field will specify the CCS capability that will be triggered. Continued on next page Page 4 Open Services Development

Commercial In Confidence Chapter 1 Typical OSD Configuration Scenario, Continued Operation Sets tab (continued) Operation tab Here is the Operations tab, configured for the scenario. Note: The control plan name is populated automatically when this operation is selected for WSDL generation during control plan compilation. The operation should only be enabled after a control plan WSDL has been generated. Client ASPs tab Here is the Client ASPs tab, configured for the scenario. Continued on next page Open Services Development Page 5

Chapter 1 Commercial In Confidence Typical OSD Configuration Scenario, Continued Client ASPs tab (continued) Notes: The Client ASP Name and IP Address will be the details of the VWS. The user name and password information configured must match the triggering operations overrides section of the eserv.config file on the VWS. Control Plan Here is the control plan for the scenario. Warning: An OSD control plan must contain an Unconditional Terminate or Unconditional Terminate to Pending TN node. Continued on next page Page 6 Open Services Development

Commercial In Confidence Chapter 1 Typical OSD Configuration Scenario, Continued Copy Node Configuration Here is the Copy node configuration detail for this scenario. Control plan compilation When the control plan is compiled, parameters are inserted into the WSDL using the OSD and Copy node configuration screens to provide the parameter names: "CC_Service_Number" - is the number to trigger the control plan which we configured in ACS-->number screen "ShortLO" - is the input which we have to provide in the SOAP message "ShortOPLO" - is the output which we have to provide in the SOAP message "errorcode" - is for error messages, so if the functionality is not correct or we have wrong SOAP message the error code will come out in outgoing SOAP messages The resultant operation segment is generated in three parts: soakrequesttype soakresulttype soakfaulttype <xs:complextype name="soakrequesttype"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="cc_service_number" type="eservglobal:numericstring" minoccurs="1"/> <xs:element name="shortlo" type="eservglobal:short" minoccurs="0"/> </xs:sequence> </xs:complextype> <xs:complextype name="soakresulttype"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="shortoplo" type="eservglobal:short" minoccurs="0"/> Continued on next page Open Services Development Page 7

Chapter 1 Commercial In Confidence Service Handlers Introduction OSD Service handlers CCS Service handlers These Service Handlers are available for selection in the Service to Invoke drop down list, see Operations (on page 25). The list is governed by what software is installed on the platform. If both OSD and CCS are installed the two lists will be combined. These are the possible services to invoke that are installed by OSD. ACS ACS_Management ACS_OSD ACS_Outgoing ACS_Prefix These are the possible services to invoke that are installed when CCS is also installed on the platform. CCS CCS_ROAM CCS_SM_MO CCS_SM_MT REVERSE_CCS_SM_MT CCS_DATA CCS_MO CCS_MT CCS_BPL Page 12 Open Services Development

Commercial In Confidence Chapter 2 Getting Started Overview Introduction In this chapter This chapter explains how to start OSD. This chapter contains the following topics. Signing on to OSD Open Services Development Page 13

Chapter 2 Commercial In Confidence Signing on to OSD Overview SMS main screen To access OSD, you need to use the sms.html page on the SMS to open the SMS Login screen and select Open Service Development from the Services menu on the SMS main screen. The address to start the application will use the following format: Here is an example of the SMS main menu showing the Open Service Development menu option. Page 14 Open Services Development

Commercial In Confidence Chapter 3 Using OSD Screens Overview Introduction In this chapter This chapter explains what and how to use the OSD configuration screens. This chapter contains the following topics. Introduction Find screens Service Providers Operation Sets Operations Client ASPs Open Services Development Page 15

Chapter 3 Commercial In Confidence Introduction Introduction The OSD configuration screens allow for setting up how to handle incoming SOAP messages, for any OSD data specific to a service provider i.e. one ACS customer. Page 16 Open Services Development

Commercial In Confidence Chapter 3 Find screens Introduction Example Find screen The Find is available of the Operation Sets, Operation and Client ASPs tabs. While each of these tabs has a different results grid, they all use the same mechanism to populate their grids. Here is an example find screen with the default results grid for the selected Service Provider. Using the Find screen Note: For information on combo boxes with ticks, periods or question marks, see Using Fields and Buttons. If the Service Provider drop down list is present, it can be ignored, unless you are wanting to change provider on all the tabs. The search text box (Operation Set Name in the example) is used to do a search on items beginning with the text typed. For example typing "Weekly" would return all operation sets whose name started with "Weekly". Note: This search function is case sensitive, "week" would not find anything. To start the search, click Search. All found items replace any previous grid contents. Once the wanted item has been found, click on that grid entry and then click Close to return to the parent tab, which will be populated with the found item details. Open Services Development Page 17

Chapter 3 Commercial In Confidence Service Providers Introduction Service Providers tab The Service Providers tab allows you to select a service provider that will have OSD configuration. Note: Once selected, data for the service provider is propagated to the following tabs: Service Providers Operation Sets Operations Here is an example of the Service Providers tab. Note: For information on combo boxes with ticks, periods or question marks, see Using Fields and Buttons. Continued on next page Page 18 Open Services Development

Commercial In Confidence Chapter 3 Service Providers, Continued Service Providers fields This table describes the Service Provider tab fields. Field Description Service Provider The service provider that an ASP uses for the Operation Set. Note: This will be the same provider for the Service Provider, Operation Sets and Operation tabs. Selection of a different provider changes the screen contents as if Clear had been pressed. Use Router Flag to indicate that ASPs using operations belonging to this service provider access OSD via a router such as squid. If this flag is ticked then the router port and router address are placed in the WSDL file. If this flag is not ticked then ASPs access OSD on the SLCs directly for these operations. In this case, all the ports and addresses from the SLC ports panel are placed in the WSDL file and the router port and router address are not used. Router Port This is a single port in the range 1024 to Router Address Protocol Address of the router to use for load sharing. The protocol the ASPs should use to send the SOAP request envelope. Edit Service Providers Follow these steps to edit a service provider OSD interaction. Step Action 1 Select the Service Provider from the drop down list. Note: This is a list of already established service providers (see SMS Main menu > Services > ACS Services > Customers tab. The selected service provider is auto selected in the other tabs. 2 If load sharing is required, tick Use Router check box, then: Type the router port in the Router Port field. Type the router address in the Router Address field. 3 Select the Protocol to be used. Either HTTP, or HTTPS 4 Amend the list of SLC ports to receive ASP input from. To add a new port - see Adding <box_scp> ports (see "Adding SLC ports" on page 20) To change a port - see Editing SLC ports (on page 20), or Select a port and click Remove to delete a port from the list. Then confirm on the Delete Port Entry? confirmation dialog. 5 Click Save. Continued on next page Open Services Development Page 19

Must match the name of a running osdinterface on the SLC, as defined in the SLEE.cfg file. More than one interface may be used for performance reasons. 5 Click Save. Open Services Development Page 21

Chapter 3 Commercial In Confidence Operation Sets Introduction Operation Sets tab Operation Sets are just a collection, for ease of maintainability, of related operations. The Operation Sets tab is where the selected service provider has all their sets of operations configured. Each set can have any number of Operations (see Operations (on page 25)) and each service provider can have any number of Operation Sets. When generated by a control plan compile, all operations for the operation set are inserted into a single WSDL file. Here is an example of the Operation Sets tab. Continued on next page Page 22 Open Services Development

Commercial In Confidence Chapter 3 Operation Sets, Continued Operation Sets fields This table describes the Operation Sets tab fields. Field Description Service Provider The service provider for this Operation Set. Note: This will be the same provider for the Service Provider, Operation Sets and Operation tabs. Selection of a different provider changes the screen contents as if Clear had been pressed. Operation Set Name WSDL Location WSDL URL Service to Invoke Max outstanding Transactions The name of this collection of operations. Note: There is a special PeriodicCharge set name for use with period charging pro-rating. Location of the control plan generated WSDL file for this operation set. Note: First part of this is set at installation time in the sms.html file. Web URL for the WSDL file. Note: This is set at installation time in the sms.html file and in eserv.config - wsdluribasename parameter. The service that will be used to invoke the control plan from the WSDL file. This must match a configured service on the SLCto trigger the control plan successfully. Note: This list is created at SMS package installation time in a database table. See Service Handlers. For meanings and uses of the different service handles, see ACS Technical Guide and CCS Technical Guide. This is the maximum number of SOAP requests for operations in this operation set that are allowed to be active at any one time. Any SOAP requests in excess of this will be rejected with HTTP error 503 (unavailable). Warning: If either the WSDL location or WSDl URL are modified, then it is up to the user to configure the SMS file system and Apache so that the two are consistent. 37 Commercial In Confidence Chapter 4 Feature Nodes Open Services Development Page 31

Chapter 4 Commercial In Confidence Available Feature Nodes Introduction Disconnect nodes release causes This topic lists all the Feature Nodes that may be available within the Control Plan Editor for OSD. In some cases, additional nodes may have been created and installed to fit a specific customer need. These custom (and ACS) nodes do not appear in this list. In an OSD Control Plan, the only sensible release causes are listed here. Cause OSD Meaning 1 No such subscriber 3 Missing parameter 4 Mis-typed parameter 5 System error These causes should be used in any Disconnect nodes when designing OSD control plans. This cause will then be translated into a SOAP cause, which gets returned to the WSDL origin. This means whom ever is trying to identify a fault with the Control Plan will be getting accurate information. OSD Node list This table lists all the available <OSD_sn> feature nodes. Node name Node icon Node description Iterator (on page 33) The Iterator node allows iterating through prefix tree entries or array elements, extracting the content of each entry or element and copying it to temporary storage variables. Page 32 Open Services Development

Commercial In Confidence Chapter 4 Iterator Node description The Iterator node allows iterating through prefix tree entries or array elements, extracting the content of each entry or element and copying it to temporary storage variables. These elements can be extracted from either: prefix trees ordered prefix trees, or arrays. For information on how these structures are defined, see the Profile Blocks and Tags topic in the CPE User's Guide. A telco or a third party (e.g. an ASP) may require access to the USP platform from a WEB application (for example to transfer money from user A's account to user B's account, send a short message to user B and then tell user A what the balance and expiry date of all his balances are). A control plan using the iterator node can perform part of this logic that deals with which parameters come in / go out via XML. When the control plan is saved, a WSDL file is produced which can then be given to the third party or client ASP. A SOAP request conforming to this WSDL and sent to the appropriate address and port will result in the control plan being run and a SOAP response containing the balances and expiry dates being sent back to the application. Node icon Node restrictions Node exits A Control Plan may contain as many Iterator nodes as required. Warning: An Iterator node must never be placed within the loop of another Iterator node. See Iterator examples (on page 34) below This node has one entry point and four exits that are set by the system. The number of exit points is fixed and may not be edited by the user. Exit Cause Description 1 Next A sub tag has been successfully processed, but there is at least another sub tag to process. 2 No more A sub tag has been successfully processed and there are no more sub tags. 3 Data not found Data could not be found at the profile filed (prefix tree) location. 4 Error The node detected that two or more feature nodes are used simultaneously, which could result in each node attempting to copy into the same fields in Temporary Storage. 40 Chapter 4 Commercial In Confidence Iterator, Continued Configuration screen Here is an example Configure Iterator screen. Configuring the node Iterator examples Follow these steps to configure the node. Step Action 1 In the Source Profile Field section, select the Data Type, Location and Field from the drop down lists for the node to iterate over. Result: The Elements section is populated with the sub tags and their storage location after the Iterator node has finished processing the selected profile field. 2 Click Save. This example shows a basic iteration over an array, with each iteration sending a SMS message. The actual content of the array elements can be any data type. 43 Commercial In Confidence Chapter 5 Configuration Overview Introduction In this chapter This chapter explains how to configure the application. This chapter contains the following topics. eserv.config Configuration acs.conf configuration SLEE.config Configuration sms.html Open Services Development Page 37

Chapter 5 Commercial In Confidence eserv.config Configuration Introduction Configuration file format eserv.config files delivered The eserv.config file is a shared configuration file, from which many Oracle applications read their configuration. Each Oracle machine (SMS and SLC) has its own version of the configuration file, containing configuration relevant to that machine. The configuration file contains many different parts or sections; each application reads the parts of the eserv.config file that contains data relevant to it. It is located in the following directory: /IN/service_packages/ The eserv.config file format allows hierarchical groupings, and most applications make use of this to divide up the options into logical groupings. To organize the configuration data within the eserv.config file, some sections are nested within other sections. Configuration details are opened and closed using either { } or [ ]. Groups of parameters are enclosed with curly brackets - { } An array of parameters is enclosed in square brackets - [ ] Comments are prefaced with a # at the beginning of the line To list things within a group or an array, elements must be separated by at least one comma or at least one line break. Any of the following formats may be used, as in this example: or or { name="route6", id = 3, prefixes = [ " ", " "] } { name="route7", id = 4, prefixes = [ " " ] } { name="route6" id = 3 prefixes = [ " " " " ] } { name="route7" id = 4 prefixes = [ " " ] } { name="route6" id = 3 prefixes = [ " ", " " ] } { name="route7", id = 4 prefixes = [ " " ] } Most applications come with an example eserv.config configuration in a file called eserv.config.example in the root of the application directory, for example: /IN/service_packages/eserv.config.be_example Continued on next page Page 38 Open Services Development

Commercial In Confidence Chapter 5 eserv.config Configuration, Continued Editing the file Loading eserv.config changes Re-reading the config file osd eserv.config configuration Open the configuration file on your system using a standard text editor. Do not use text editors such as MS Word, that attach control characters. These can be, for example, Microsoft DOS or Windows line termination characters (for example: ^M), which are not visible to the user, at the end of each row. This will cause file errors when the application tries to read the configuration file. Always keep a backup of your file before making any changes to it. This will ensure you have a working copy which you can return to if necessary. If you change the configuration file, then you must restart the appropriate parts of the service to enable the new options to take effect. The system will re-read config on a SIGHUP signal and print a status report to standard output on a SIGUSR1 signal. Here is an example OSD eserv.config section configuration. OSD = { # osdinterfacse parameters are only relevant on an SCP: osdinterface = { basicrealm = "ASP Account" polltime = loadreportingperiod = 600 oracleusername = "smf" oraclepassword = "smf" oracledatabase = "nzwn-test08_smf" sslcertificatefile = "/IN/service_packages/OSD/sslCertificate.pem" sslkeyfile = "/IN/service_packages/OSD/sslKey.pem" tssftimeoutsecs = 10 ratecalculationperiodsecs = 10 applicationcontext = "0,4,0,0,1,21,3,4" } validaterequestnamespace = false databasecachingrules = { operationsetsdataexpirysecs = 300 operationdataexpirysecs = 300 clientaspdataexpirysecs = 300 portlistsdataexpirysecs = 300 acsprofiledataexpirysecs = 300 } NumberRules = [ { prefix="", min=0, max = 100, remove=0, prepend="", resultnoa=4 } ] # These parameters are only relevant on an SMP: } wsdluribasename = " maxprofiledetailsage = 60 maxservicehandleage = 60 osdwsdlregenerator = { waittimesecs = 2 useoraclealerts = false oracledatabase = "nzwn-test08_smf" } Continued on next page Open Services Development Page 39

Chapter 5 Commercial In Confidence eserv.config Configuration, Continued OSD SCP parameters osdinterface Syntax: Description: Type: Optionality: Default: Notes: Example: osdinterface = {<parm1, parm2...>} The osd interface parameter list. List Mandatory None osdinterfacse parameters are only relevant on an SLC. osdinterface = { parm 1 parm 2 } basicrealm Syntax: basicrealm = "<realm>" Description: The basic realm to specify in HTTP authentication (401) messages, WWW-Authenticate header. Type: String Optionality: Optional (default used if not set). Default: "ASP Account" Example: basicrealm = "ASP Account" polltime Syntax: Description: Type: Optionality: polltime = <microseconds> Number of microseconds to wait for a socket connection or SOAP request. Integer Optional (default used if not set). Default: Example: polltime = loadreportingperiod Syntax: loadreportingperiod = <seconds> Description: Number of seconds between automatic status reports. Type: Integer Optionality: Optional (default used if not set). Default: 600 Example: loadreportingperiod = 900 Continued on next page Page 40 Open Services Development

Commercial In Confidence Chapter 5 eserv.config Configuration, Continued OSD SCP parameters (continued) oracleusername Syntax: oracleusername = <> Description: Type: Optionality: Notes: Example: Oracle user name for connecting to the database. String Optional. Usually the oracleusername and oraclepassword are not specified in which case the acs_oper operator account will just connect as "/". oracleusername = "smf" Syntax: Description: Type: Optionality: Notes: Example: oraclepassword = "<password>" Oracle password for connecting to the database. String Optional. Usually the oracleusername and oraclepassword are not specified in which case the acs_oper operator account will just connect as "/". oraclepassword = "smf" oracledatabase Syntax: Description: Type: Optionality: Default: Notes: Example: oracledatabase = "<database name>" The remote oracle database to connect to, from tnsnames.ora. String Optional (default used if not set). None Usually not specified as it is usual to use the local database. oracledatabase = "nzwn-test08_smf" Continued on next page Open Services Development Page 41

Chapter 5 Commercial In Confidence eserv.config Configuration, Continued OSD SCP parameters (continued) sslcertificatefile Syntax: Description: Type: Optionality: Default: Notes: sslcertificatefile = "<location/file name>" SSL certificate file. String Optional (default used if not set). "/IN/service_packages/OSD/sslCertificate.pem" The Installing osdscp Package process prompts the user for some information and then the key files are generated automatically. However, in practice, a telco will probably prefer to generate their own files and register them with a proper certificate authority. Also note that the automatically generated certificates are valid for three years. Example: sslcertificatefile = "/IN/service_packages/OSD/sslCertificate.pem" sslkeyfile Syntax: sslkeyfile = "<location/namae>" Description: SSL key file for certificate. Type: String Optionality: Optional (default used if not set). Default: "/IN/service_packages/OSD/sslKey.pem" Notes: THESE SSL FILES MUST BE CREATED MANUALLY IN ORDER FOR SSL TO WORK! Example: sslkeyfile = "/IN/service_packages/OSD/sslKey.pem" tssftimeoutsecs Syntax: Description: Type: Optionality: tssftimeoutsecs = <seconds> The maximum period osdinterface should wait for a response from slee_acs before giving up and sending a SOAP fault. Integer Optional (default used if not set). Default: 10 Example: tssftimeoutsecs = 20 Continued on next page Page 42 Open Services Development

Commercial In Confidence Chapter 5 eserv.config Configuration, Continued OSD SCP parameters (continued) ratecalculationperiodsecs Syntax: ratecalculationperiodsecs = <seconds> Description: The number of seconds for which to store transactions when calculating the transaction rate. Type: Integer Optionality: Optional (default used if not set). Default: 10 Notes: For example with the default of 10 seconds, and with an allowed rate of 200 per second, new transactions will be rejected if the number of transactions started in the last 10 seconds exceeds Example: ratecalculationperiodsecs = 20 applicationcontext Syntax: applicationcontext = "<context>" Description: The application context to specify in IDPs sent to slee_acs. Type: String Optionality: Optional (default used if not set). Default: "0,4,0,0,1,21,3,4" Notes: THIS SHOULD NOT NORMALLY BE CHANGED. Example: applicationcontext = "0,4,0,0,1,21,3,4" validaterequestnamespace Syntax: Description: Type: Optionality: Allowed: Default: Notes: Example: validaterequestnamespace = <true false> Turn on the WSDL namespace checking. Boolean Optional (default used if not set). true - do namespace checking, or false - do not do namespace checking false Because the osdinterface uses a SAXParser, rather than the newer XML2Reader, it doesn't support namespaces properly, so this parameter can be used to turn checking on. validaterequestnamespace = true Continued on next page Open Services Development Page 43

Chapter 5 Commercial In Confidence eserv.config Configuration, Continued OSD SCP parameters (continued) databasecachingrules Syntax: Description: Type: Optionality: Default: Example: databasecachingrules = {<rules>} The list of table re-read time rules. List Optional (default used if not set). 10 seconds for all osd tables, all rules. databasecachingrules = { operationsetsdataexpirysecs Syntax: Description: Type: Optionality: } operationsetsdataexpirysecs = <seconds> operationdataexpirysecs = <seconds> clientaspdataexpirysecs = <seconds> portlistsdataexpirysecs = <seconds> acsprofiledataexpirysecs = <seconds> operationsetsdataexpirysecs = <seconds> The maximum age data from OSD_OPERATION_SET table can be before it is re-read from the database. Integer Optional (default used if not set). Default: 10 Example: operationsetsdataexpirysecs = 300 Continued on next page Page 44 Open Services Development
