3 Quick Start Guide 3 Overview This Quick Start Guide is designed t take yu thrugh the initial stages f setting up yur Gemini Intercm system. Mre detailed infrmatin is prvided in the Implementatin and Cnfiguratin Guides which are prvided n the CD included with yur rder. Here is the utline f the steps yu shuld fllw: Unpack and visually inspect all equipment Create an IP Address plan fr yur intercm system Select a suitable PC t manage the system Install the Gateway Cnfiguratin Editr and database Cnfigure yur PC Firewall Create a cnfiguratin shell Set up each Gemini in turn and verify cnnectin t the database Cnnect t each Gemini using the Web Brwser feature. First Step unpack and inspect Carefully unpack all bxes and inspect the equipment carefully fr any transit damage. Lcate the despatch nte (ne per cnsignment) and check that all items match yur purchase rder. Yu may find it helpful t recrd the serial numbers in a safe place. These may be required at a later date if additinal ptins are purchased. Lcate the prduct CD and make a nte f the licence number. Yu will need them later. At this pint, d nt pwer up the Gemini equipment.

4 4 Quick Start Guide Netwrk plan and IP addresses The Gemini matrix frame will nrmally be cnnected t an IP netwrk. This allws it t cmmunicate with ther Trilgy IPbased intercm prducts and t cnnect t the Gateway Cnfiguratin Editr sftware. Hwever, nce crrectly cnfigured, a single Gemini matrix frame can perate in islatin. Each Gemini frame requires a single static IP address. In additin, if Gemini is fitted with ptinal Netwrked DSP, a further 2 static addresses per Gemini are required. Yur laptp r PC must use an address in the same subnet ( range ) as Gemini. If it is nt cnvenient t adjust the address f yur PC then the default addresses used by Gemini must be changed, as described later. Make a nte f the values which yu plan t use. IP DSP 1 DSP 2 subnet mask gateway address Gemini nt set Laptp / PC n/a nt set Any mistakes r incnsistencies in these values may lead t unpredictable audi behaviur. Fr example, if yu declare a gateway address n yur PC, this must als be declared within the cnfiguratin data fr Gemini. If yur system includes IP cnnected cntrl panels, r multiple Gemini, the plan shuld be extended accrdingly.

5 Quick Start Guide 5 Management PC PC manufacturers cntinually revise and update their specificatins making it difficult t give definitive guidelines. The fllwing specificatin is crrect at date f issue (April 2016): Intel Cre i3 r i5 CPU (r equivalent) 4 GB (min), 8 GB (preferred) Dual channel DDR3 RAM Windws 7 r later, 32 / 64 bit (preferred) Graphics with 512 MB supprting 1280 x 1024 reslutin n a 19 mnitr CD / DVD reader fr sftware installatin There are tw sftware cmpnents t be cnsidered: Gateway Cnfiguratin Editr. This is ptimised fr Windws 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. Nrmally, Gateway nly needs t be active when changes t the system cnfiguratin are planned. Database Supervisr. The primary task f this small applicatin is t prepare and package the data prir t pushing it t each Gemini matrix. Ideally, the database itself shuld be left running at all times. If it is shutdwn r discnnected, Gemini will cntinue t run using a lcally cached cpy f the mst recent data. Hwever, sme functinality will be slightly restricted.

6 6 Quick Start Guide Install Sftware Tw cmpnents will nrmally be installed: Gateway Cnfiguratin Editr Database Supervisr Fr smaller systems, these cmpnents may be installed alngside each ther n a single PC. Fr larger systems it is advisable t split the installatin acrss tw cmputers, s that the database is left running cntinuusly. If the database is shut dwn r discnnected, there will be minr lss f functinality. Gateway editr may be clsed when cnfiguratin changes are cmplete. Insert the supplied CD and frm the menu, select the ptin t Install Sftware. Select the tw cmpnents listed abve Yu shuld nrmally accept all ther default ptins The database runs as a System Service: t view and manage the database, a small applicatin (Database Supervisr) is prvided. Yu will find this at Prgrams > Trilgy > Trilgy V5 > Database Supervisr. Once launched, a small additinal icn will appear in the PC system tray, next t the clck. On first run, yu will be prmpted t enter yur sftware licence key cde. This is supplied n the jewel case f the CD r DVD which accmpanies yur rder. Take a nte f this and keep it safe fr any future re-installatin.

7 Quick Start Guide 7 Cnfigure the firewall In rder fr Gemini t cnnect t the database, a number f prts must be pened n the PC firewall. We can supply scripts t autmate this prcess fr the Micrsft Windws firewall: fr ther firewalls please cnsult the dcumentatin supplied with that prduct. T carry ut the task manually, the fllwing prts must be pened t allw inbund access: TCP management database data TCP management database cntrl TCP management database supervisr Additinally, n any PC used fr vice cmmunicatin the fllwing prts must be pened t allw inbund access: UDP 2076 cntrl and signalling UDP 2077 vice packets Finally, if the Virtual Panel applicatin is installed, the fllwing prt must be pened t allw inbund access: TCP 6822 Virtual Panel t hst cnnectin.

8 8 Quick Start Guide Gateway the Cnfiguratin Editr Start Gateway frm Prgrams > Trilgy > Trilgy V5 > Cnfiguratin Editr. Lg-in using the default credentials Admin trilgy A new blank cnfiguratin file will be created. Use the simple editrs by single clicking items in the tree. Open the editr fr Dmain 1 : currently n Gemini matrix hsts are present. Add hsts using the green + buttn until the list matches yur planned system. Highlight each hst entry in turn and set the IP address. Refer t the IP address plan created earlier. If Gemini is fitted with the ptinal Netwrked DSP bards, they must be declared and their IP addresses entered int the database. See the next sectin fr DSP cnfiguratin.

9 Quick Start Guide 9 Gateway Netwrked DSP T cnfigure any Netwrked DSP ptin bards, pen the Advanced Hst Editr fr Gemini by duble-clicking the crrespnding icn in the tree. Alternatively, right-click the tree icn and select Shw Advanced Editr. Click n the Audi tab. As shwn belw, turn n the checkbx fr Netwrked DSPs and by reference t the initial plan, enter the IP Addresses. File Management Any changes are psted t the database when yu press the tick. Once changes are psted, yu can clse Gateway at any time and changes will nt be lst. Backup the current cnfiguratin by pressing the red disk icn, seen n the tp tlbar. Establish a file naming cnventin which will help with lcating files in the future. Fr example, a wuld indicate the first file created n 25 th March Leave Gateway running: yu will need it again shrtly.

10 10 Quick Start Guide Gemini Setting the basics If yu have purchased mre than ne Gemini, t avid any pssibility f IP address cnflicts, it is best t pwer up the frames ne-by-ne. At this stage, d nt cnnect t yur netwrk. Cnnect 1 r 2 IEC mains cables t each frame. The pwer supplies are aut sensing fr input vltages frm VAC. There is n pwer switch: the unit will pwer-up immediately. The tw pwer supplies prvide fr main and backup peratin. If nly ne is cnnected, the unit will shw an alarm message under the Status menu n the frnt panel tuchscreen. The Gemini bt cycle takes apprximately 30 secnds: when ready, the tuchscreen display shws the hme page.

11 Quick Start Guide 11 Unless agreed pre-delivery, Gemini is supplied frm the factry with default netwrk and identity settings. Befre cnnecting t yur netwrk, these values must be set accrdingly. Using the frnt panel tuch screen, navigate t the Settings menu. Chse the lg-in ptin, then using the n screen keypad enter the default passwrd trilgy. Simply enter the equivalent numbers as shwn n the keys: fr trilgy, enter Nw yu can change values. The same passwrd is used t access Gemini using yur web brwser: see page 15. Change the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway and Database Server addresses by pressing the small > arrw at the end f each line and using the keypad. Each ctet must be entered as 3 digits including all leading zers. S an address f must be entered as Nw set the crrect EDH address, as explained in the next sectin.

12 12 Quick Start Guide Gemini setting the identity (EDH address) Each Gemini has a unique identity defined within the database by a three part EDH address. EDH stands fr Enterprise Dmain Hst. The E value is reserved fr future use. The D value crrespnds t a subnet r physical lcatin. The H value represents t an individual Gemini matrix hst. Typically, a single Gemini wuld be Tw Gemini linked lcally t prvide a single 64 prt matrix wuld be and Tw Gemini linked ver IP but in different lcatins, wuld be and The EDH value is autmatically generated as the database cnfiguratin builds and cannt be edited later. Values f D and H are shwn in square brackets [ ], in the Gateway navigatin tree. If yu are building a multi-hst system, it may be helpful t nte these values n the IP Address Plan created earlier. Restart t apply changes These changes are nly applied when Gemini re-starts. Press the ntificatin message n the tp line f the tuchscreen and fllw the prmpts. Once Gemini has re-started, navigate t the Settings > System menu and check that the new values are crrect. Yu can view these settings in read-nly mde withut lgging in.

13 Quick Start Guide 13 Cnnect t yur netwrk If the settings are crrect, cnnect the Ethernet prt n the rear f Gemini t yur netwrk using a standard Ethernet cable. On the system management PC, pen the Gemini Active Clients frm frm the settings icn (gears), then the View menu. Active Clients Frm The primary functin f the Active Clients frm is t send the latest cnfiguratin frm yur PC t all currently cnnected Gemini hsts. This is a tw phase prcess: Uplad: takes arund 20 secnds and happens in the backgrund withut disturbing the system. Restart: als takes abut 20 secnds but all cmmunicatin will cease and panels will reset during this phase.

14 14 Quick Start Guide Depending n yur system settings, nce the uplad phase is cmplete, yu will see a warning message asking if yu wish t g-ahead and re-start. Fllw the Uplad >> Restart sequence fr the single Gemini matrix which is listed n screen. Repeat fr each Gemini in yur system If yu have mre than ne Gemini, repeat the steps explained n pages 9 thrugh 13 inclusive as yu add matrices ne by ne. When all Gemini hsts appear in the Active Clients Frm list, the initial set-up is cmplete.

15 Quick Start Guide 15 Gemini Web Brwser Each Gemini matrix includes a self-cntained web server, prviding a range f engineering and diagnstic infrmatin. Once Gemini is running, as utlined abve, pen yur web brwser and type the previusly cnfigured IP address (see page 9) int the address bar. The web pages als prvide a cnvenient means f setting up sme additinal parameters. The Settings pages are passwrd prtected, using the same passwrd as fr the Gemini frnt screen (see page 9). The default is trilgy nte that the web pages give an ptin t change this passwrd yu cannt change the passwrd n Gemini itself.

16 16 Quick Start Guide Next Steps.. Using the basic Hst editr, define each prt as 4-wire r panel frm the drp dwn list next t the? symbl. Give each prt a suitable name: remember, mst panels can display a maximum f 5 characters. Using the basic panel editr, add keys t talk t ther panels, and t speak and listen t 4-wire circuits. Drag and drp key targets frm the palette area shwn belw each panel. Yu shuld nrmally use speak keys t cmmunicate between panels. A range f keys are prvided t bth speak and listen t 4-wire audi circuits. The chice depends n yur applicatin, but remember, 4-wire subscribers are essentially dumb. They cannt chse t either speak r listen. Save, uplad, re-start and test frequently. T create a larger matrix, define a Gemini HSL Ring and attach the crrect Gemini hst matrices. Cnnect the HSL (high-speed link) cables t cmplete this step. Enhance the cnfiguratin by creating Cnferences, IFBs and Grups.
