4 BASED ON IMPLEMENTING AN APPLICATION ACTIVITY
5 Activity Performs every interactions on a screen Include locating layout and doing some actions Layout Show Android Action View An activity Another activity
6 Android Project Construction MyProject/ manifests/ AndroidMenifest.xml java/ MyActivity.java res/ drawable/ icon.png layout/ activity_main.xml values/ strings.xml Manifest file configures details of the application It defines configurations written below Application configuration Access permission Intent permission etc We will learn about manifest in the next class java directory contains the java source codes which declare the Activities
Android Project Construction MyProject/ manifests/ AndroidMenifest.xml java/ MyActivity.java res/ drawable/ icon.png layout/ activity_main.xml values/ strings.xml Types of res directory - not forced to follow these rules except values anim define property animations (R.anim) color define a state list of colors (R.color) drawable image files (R.drawable) layout define a UI layout (R.layout) menu define application menus (R.menu) raw arbitrary files to save in their raw form values contain simple values R.array R.integer R.bool R.dimen R.string R.style ** R.~~~ is the representation in the java source code 7
Lifecycle of an Activity 8
9 BY YOUR SELF IMPLEMENT AN APPLICATION
10 Let s make the first app 1. Create new project 1. name as myfirstapp with Android API Implement new java source code 1. in /java/edu.skku.swp3.myfirstapp 2. name as MainActivity 3. superclass: android.app.activity 3. Create new layout file 1. name as layout_main 4. Add new strings to strings.xml for contents in layout 5. Add button and text area to layout_main 6. Set event listener in MainActivity 7. Add the configuration of MainActivity in Manifest file 8. Run your app via emulator!
11 Implement MainActivity package edu.skku.swp3.myapplication; import android.app.activity; import android.os.bundle; public class MainActivity extends Activity protected void oncreate(bundle bundle) { super.oncreate(bundle); setcontentview(r.layout.layout_main); } } activity_main will be marked as error! press alt + enter on the red words for getting helped from IDE
12 Create new layout file The initial state of layout_main <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android=" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent"> </LinearLayout> Add new string values <resources> <string name="app_name">my Application</string> <string name="button">change Text</string> <string name="before_txt">text is not changed yet.</string> <string name="after_txt">hello World!</string> </resources
13 Create new layout file After adding Button and TextView <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android=" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent"> <Button android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="button" /> <TextView android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="textview" /> </LinearLayout>
14 Create new layout file After updating the contents <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android=" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent"> <Button android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> <TextView android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> </LinearLayout>
15 Configure MainActivity Initial state of manifest <manifest xmlns:android=" package="edu.skku.swp3.myapplication"> <application android:allowbackup="true" android:supportsrtl="true" /> </manifest>
16 Configure MainActivity Final state of manifest <manifest xmlns:android=" package="edu.skku.swp3.myapplication"> <application android:allowbackup="true" android:supportsrtl="true" > <activity android:name=".mainactivity"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.main" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.launcher" /> </intent-filter> </activity> </application> </manifest>
17 Event-Driven Execution Every event occurs when getting input User inputs - tab, double tab, drag, type, voice System inputs - message broadcast, alarm When event events, callback function will be called Well-known event driven executions; Socket acceptance, thread scheduling(wait) Android performs event driven execution
18 Set event listener Final code of MainActivity public class MainActivity extends Activity { Button mbutton; TextView protected void oncreate(bundle bundle) { super.oncreate(bundle); setcontentview(r.layout.layout_main); mbutton = findviewbyid(r.id.button); mtextview = findviewbyid(r.id.textview); } } mbutton.setonclicklistener(new View.OnClickListener() public void onclick(view view) { mtextview.settext(r.string.after_txt); view.setclickable(false); } });
19 [Lab Practice #1] Implement your application satisfying the following conditions extend from the source code implementing in lecture time Activity class: edu.skku.swp3.mainactivity Construct a button and a text view initially print your name in English when click once, change text to your student id when click twice, change text to your name + student id (e.g. Gildong Hong, 2015XXXXXX) when click third, go back to initial state and so on
