7 Installing the Array Manager This section describes how to install the Array Manager on the Oracle WebLogic Server and load the Array Manager to the Oracle Enterprise Manager. Overview of the WebLogic Server Oracle Enterprise Manager contains a full-featured WebLogic Server that provides the ability to install, configure, and administer custom web applications. Running applications from within the WebLogic environment enables you to monitor and launch applications from within the Oracle Enterprise Manager console. You should not add an application to the existing GCDomain servers. is not advisable. You should create additional servers or domains for new applications to be installed and from which to be managed. To create a new server, log in to the Oracle WebLogic Server Administration Console. The Create a New Server page opens automatically. 2. Click New. The Create a New Server dialog box opens. 10 3. Enter the information on the Create a New Server page. NOTE An *(asterisk) next to the text box label indicates that the information is required. In the Server Name text box, type a unique name for the server. In the Server Listen Address text box type the IP address or DNS address of the server. In the Server Listen Port, type an available port number. NOTE Make sure no port conflicts exist. Specify whether this server is stand-alone or belongs to a cluster. When the server belongs to a cluster, select the name from the drop-down list. 4. Click Next. The Create a New Server continuation dialog box appears. Figure 6 Create a New Server Continuation Dialog Box 5. Click Finish. The new server name appears in the Servers table on the Oracle WebLogic Administration Console. 11 Figure 8 Array Manager Settings Dialog Box 7. Configure the settings for the Array Manager. In the Machines drop-down list, select the machine name. In the Cluster drop-down list, select the cluster mode. Verify the Listen Address. Verify that Listen Port Enabled is selected. Verify the Listen Port number. Check the SSL Listen Port Enabled box. Verify the SSL listen port number. If the SSL listen port number is incorrect, perform the following actions: 8. Click Save. 1. Check the SSL List Port Enabled box to make the SSL Listen Port text box active. 2. In the SSL Listen Port text box, delete the listen port number and type the correct listen port number. 12 Figure 9 Settings Updated Successfully Message 9. Click Activate Changes. The Activate Changes bar disappears. NOTE If your configuration has a Change Center pane, the Lock & Edit bar appears. 13 Starting the New Server 1. On the Summary of Servers page, click the Control tab. Figure 11 Summary of Servers Control Tab 2. Check the box next to the new server s name. 3. Click Start. 4. The Server Life Cycle Assistant dialog box appears. Figure 12 Server Life Cycle Assistant Dialog Box 5. Click Yes. The State column and the Status of Last Action show that the start is in progress. 14 Figure 13 Refresh the State Change The state change from STARTING to RUNNING can take a few minutes. To see the state change, click Refresh. Figure 14 State Change from STARTING to RUNNING Loading the Array Manager File to the Enterprise Manager Management Server The Array Manager is contained in the.ear (Enterprise Archive) file to be loaded onto the newly created WebLogic server. The santricity-management.ear file is located where the initial plug-in zip file was extracted. See Figure 16 on page On the WebLogic Server Administration Console, click Deployments. Select Custom Roles: Use roles that are defined in the Administration Console; use policies that are defined in the deployment descriptor. Use the defaults defined by the deployment s targets is the default selection. 12. Click Next. The Install Application Assistant No I will review the configuration later dialog box appears. The santricity-management name is added to the Deployments table. The State column shows the deployment state as Prepared. The Deployments table is in alphabetical order. To change the sort order, click the column label. To search for a specific deployed entity, type the search string in the search text box at the top of the page. Changing the Deployment Order of the Application in the Deployments table 1. In the Deployments table, click santricity-management. 34 Opening the Array Manager from the Oracle Enterprise Manager Open and log in to the Enterprise Summary page of the Oracle EM. Adding the SSL Port Setting to a NetApp SANtricity Plug-in 1. On the Enterprise Manager Summary page, select Targets >> All Targets. Figure 61 Targets All Targets The All Targets page opens and shows all target names for the NetApp SANtricity Storage Plug-in. In the upper left corner, select NetApp SANtricity Storage Plug-in >> Target Setup >> Monitoring Configuration. Verify that the WebLogic Port for Array Manager App. field shows the correct port number of the server. If the WebLogic Port for Array Manager App. port field is either empty or shows the wrong port number, type the correct number in the text box. 37 Figure 69 NetApp SANtricity Plug-in for Oracle Enterprise Manager Array Manager Adding Storage Arrays to the Array Manager You can add storage arrays in two ways: Discovering storage arrays automatically Scan the storage network by subnet or range of subnets. See Discovering Storage Arrays Automatically. Adding storage arrays manually Individually add storage arrays based on their controller DNS names or controller IP addresses. See Adding Storage Arrays Manually on page 35. Discovering Storage Arrays Automatically Automatically scanning large storage array environments reduces the overhead of manually adding multiple arrays one-at-a-time. You can scan for storage arrays at any time, including after storage arrays have been added to the Array Manager. Scans do not report storage arrays already added to the Array Manager. A scan identifies whether a storage array has a password in the storage management software. A scan reports the following information about the storage arrays and saves the information in the storage management software. The Array Manager performs the following actions: Scans the network for the storage arrays in the subnet or range of subnets Determines whether a storage array has a password in the storage management software The Discovered Storage Arrays table shows the storage arrays with IP addresses within the specified subnet or range of subnets. Sorting Storage Arrays You can sort the columns in the Discovered storage arrays table in either ascending or descending order. To sort the Discovered storage arrays table, click in the table column heading. An arrow appears in the table column heading, as shown in Figure 71. To sort in ascending order, click in the column heading. To sort in descending order, click in the column heading. Adding Global Storage Array Settings Global storage array settings are the user-assigned tag keys and tag values that identify the properties of the storage arrays in the Array Manager. You can also enter a password for a storage array. NOTE The password must match the password for the storage array in the storage management software. 40 You can either add the global storage array settings now, or you can wait until after the storage array has been added to the Array Manager. 1. 41 Adding Storage Arrays Manually You can manually add individual storage arrays one-at-a-time based on the DNS names or controller IP addresses. You must use valid DNS names or IPv4 IP addresses. You cannot use IPv6 IP addresses. 1. In the Commands pane in the bottom-left corner of the Array Manager, click Add Array. The Add Storage Array dialog box appears. To add the password before adding the storage array to the Array Manager, go to Adding the Password for the Storage Array on page 37. To add tag assignments before adding the storage array to the Array Manager, go to Adding Storage Array Tag Assignments for the Storage Array on page 37. To add the storage array to the Array Manager, perform the following actions. 1. In the Add Storage Array dialog box, click Add. a. The Array Manager searches for the storage array and performs the following actions: When the Array Manager cannot find the storage array, or when the IP addresses for controller A and controller B are not valid, the Add Device message appears. You can create additional folders and panels later to further group the storage arrays according to your specific needs. To assign tag keys, perform the following actions. 1. In the Tag Key text box, type the tag key to assign to the storage array. 2. In the Tag Value text box, type the associated tag value. 3. Discover Arrays Automatically scan and discover all storage arrays simultaneously based on a range of controller IP addresses. Edit Change storage array properties. Refresh Refresh the information in the Array Manager. Add Panel Create panels to organize and classify storage arrays based on common tag keys and tag values. Manage Tags Manage tag keys and tag values for storage arrays. Remove Remove storage arrays from the Array Manager. Storage Array Properties When you add a storage array, either by scanning and discovering it automatically or by adding it manually, you must configure two properties: Storage array password Match the storage array s password in the Array Manager to the storage array s password in the storage management software. Storage array tag assignments Assign tag keys and tag values to the storage arrays, or add the storage array without tag keys and tag values. The decision tables and procedures in Appendix A, Automatically Scanning and Discovering Storage Arrays, on page 114 and Appendix B, Manually Adding Storage Arrays, on page 120 provide detailed instructions for configuring passwords, designating storage array management, and assigning tag keys and tag values when you add storage arrays to the Array Manager. Storage Array Passwords When you either scan the network to discover storage arrays automatically or add a storage array manually, the Array Manager identifies storage array passwords in the storage management software that must be added to the Array Manager. You can enter a password when you add the storage array. You also can enter, change, or remove a password after you have added the storage array. For the Array Manager to recognize a password as valid, the password in the Array Manager must match the password in the storage management software. If the passwords do not match, the Array Manager shows the password status as Invalid. The Password Status column in the Array Manager shows whether the password in the Array Manager is valid or invalid or whether the storage array does not have a password. Figure 79 on page 41 shows the password icons and statuses. 47 When the storage array has a password in the storage management software, you can add the storage array to the Array Manager without the password, and then add and verify it later in the Array Manager. o o Managing Storage Array Passwords on page 49 describes how to add passwords after storage arrays are added to the Array Manager. Verifying Storage Array Passwords on page 49 describes how to verify that the password in the Array Manager matches the password in the storage management software. If a password is incorrect, the Array Manager shows the password status as Invalid. You can remove the password or change the password after the storage array has been added to the Array Manager. When the Array Manager shows no password for a storage array, the Array Manager verifies that the storage management software database contains no password for the storage array. You can add a storage array password to the Array Manager and then add that password to the storage management software. Until the Array Manager verifies that the passwords match, the Array Manager shows the password status as Invalid. Figure 79 Password Status Icons Password status icon Password status Valid password No password Invalid password Organizing the Storage Array Structure in the Array Manager You can use tag keys and tag values to customize the way storage arrays appear in the Array Manager, and you can assign the storage arrays to panels to specify where and how storage arrays appear in the All Storage Arrays panel. Adding Tag Keys and Tag Values to a Storage Array To organize your storage arrays by common properties, you can create and add tag keys and tag values. You can create and add tag keys and tag values either when you first add a storage array to the Array Manager or after the storage array has been added to the Array Manager. To add and assign tag keys and tag values when you add a storage array to the Array Manager, go to Adding Global Storage Array Settings on page 33. To add and assign tag keys and tag values after a storage array has already been added to the Array Manager, go to Adding Tag Keys and Tag Values on page 55. The Tag Assignments table in the Details section of the Array Manager shows the tag keys and tag values assigned to a selected storage array. Managing Storage Array Tag Assignments on page 51 describes how to perform the following tasks for tag keys and tag values: Add tag keys and tag values, and assign them to a storage array. The new tag key and tag value are associated only with the storage array to which they are assigned, but they are available for assignment to any other storage array. Remove a tag key and tag value from a storage array. NOTE Removing a tag key and tag value removes their association with the storage array to which they were assigned, but the tag key and the tag value remain in the storage management software. The tag keys and tag values are available for assignment to other storage arrays. Organizing Storage Arrays in Panels To arrange your storage arrays in a logical structure, you can group them in panels in the All Storage Arrays panel. To add a panel, the tag key and the tag value for the panel must have been assigned to at least one existing storage array. You can assign a storage array with multiple tag keys and tag values to multiple panels. Managing Storage Array Tags on page 54 describes how to manage the tag keys and tag values of a storage array in a panel. To create panels, go to Storage Array Panels on page 61. 49 Removing Storage Arrays You can remove a single storage array or multiple storage arrays at the same time. Removed storage arrays are also removed from the table in the right pane. Folders and panels for removed storage arrays stay in the left pane of the Array Manager until you manually remove them. Removing One Storage Array 1. Expand the All Storage Arrays folder in the left pane. All storage arrays appear under the All Storage Arrays folder. 2. In the left pane of the Array Manager, select the storage array to remove. The Remove command in the Commands pane is active. 3. In the Commands pane in the bottom-left corner of the Array Manager, click Remove. The Remove Storage Array dialog box appears. Removing Multiple Storage Arrays You can remove multiple storage arrays from the All Storage Arrays list in the left pane of the Array Manager. Removed storage arrays are also removed from the table in the right pane. To remove multiple storage arrays, perform the following actions. 1. Select the All Storage Arrays folder in the left pane. The Remove command in the Commands pane is active. 2. In the Commands pane, click Remove. The Remove Storage Arrays dialog box appears. 51 Editing Storage Array Properties After a storage array has been added to the Array Manager, you can edit the following storage array properties: Change the DNS names or IP addresses of the controllers. Add, change, and remove storage tag assignments, tag keys, and tag values. Verify, add, change, and remove the storage array password. NOTE Change a storage array password only to make it match the password in the storage management software. Any action you take in the Array Manager is reflected in the Array Manager interface. Password changes or controller IP address changes must match the passwords or controller IP addresses in the storage management software. Selecting the Storage Array for Which to Edit Properties You can select the storage array in two ways. Method 1 1. In the left pane of the Array Manager, expand the All Storage Arrays folder. All managed storage arrays appear under the All Storage Arrays folder. 2. Under the All Storage Arrays folder, select the storage array for which to edit the properties. The Edit command in the Commands pane in the bottom-left corner of the Array Manager is active. Changing the DNS Names or IP Addresses of a Storage Array If network configuration changes require corresponding changes to controller IP addresses of a storage array that was scanned, discovered, and added to the Array Manager, the storage array state in the Array Manager changes from Available to Unavailable. If the DNS names or controller IP addresses in the Array Manager for a storage array do not match the corresponding DNS names or controller IP addresses in the storage management software, the Array Manager shows the storage array status as Invalid. 54 You must update the Array Manager to reflect the controller IP address changes and return the storage array state to Available. Both the old IP addresses and the corresponding new IP addresses are stored in the storage management software. You can update DNS names or controller IP addresses in two ways. When you do not know which storage arrays have changed or what the new controller IP addresses are, perform an automatic rescan. To make multiple changes at one time, you can perform an automatic rescan on a network or a subnet. For a small number of changes, and you know what the changes are, you can manually change the DNS names or the controller IP addresses of individual storage arrays, and then perform a scan to update the Array Manager. NOTE Change the DNS names or controller IP addresses in the Array Manager only when necessary to match the corresponding DNS names or controller IP addresses in the storage management software. If the DNS names or controller IP addresses in the Array Manager do not match the DNS names or controller IP addresses in the storage management software, the Array Manager shows the storage array status as Invalid. Automatically Rescanning the Storage Network A rescan identifies all changed storage arrays, regardless of the number of changes, updates the Array Manager, and returns to storage arrays states to Available. Both the old controller IP addresses and the corresponding new controller IP addresses are stored in the database. Reports generated after the scan are based on the new storage array configurations. Discovering Storage Arrays Automatically on page 31 describes how to scan the storage network automatically. Manually Changing the DNS Names or Controller IP addresses You can manually change individual DNS names or controller IP addresses and rescan the storage network so that the Array Manager detects the changes and generates reports based on the new storage array configuration. The manual scan also detects whether the storage array has a password in the storage management software. Figure 79 on page 41 shows the password icons and their statuses in the Array Manager. NOTE No response time performance information is lost during the change of controller IP addresses 1. In the left pane of the Array Manager, expand the All Storage Arrays folder. The right pane shows all managed storage arrays. 2. In the right pane, select the storage array for which to change controller IP addresses. 3. In the Details section, click Edit. The Edit Storage Array dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 85 on page In the Controller A (DNS or IPv4) text box in the Edit Storage Array dialog box, highlight and delete the current DNS or IP address, and type the new DNS or IP address. 5. 55 6. Click Save. The Edit Storage Array dialog box closes. The Array Manager does the following: Establishes a connection to the storage array with the changed controller IP addresses Requests the SAID for the new connection If the Array Manager cannot update the controller IP addresses, an error message appears. The Array Manager compares the requested SAID with the saved SAID associated with the storage array. If the SAIDs are equal, the Array Manager saves, and logs the updates. 7. Rescan the storage array to ensure that the Array Manager recognizes the changed IP address. a. b. c. In the Commands pane in the bottom-left corner of the Array Manager, click Discover Arrays. The Discover Storage Arrays dialog box appears. In the IP start and IP end text boxes, type the new controller IP addresses. Click Discover. d. The Discovered storage arrays table shows the new controller IP addresses and the storage array status. In the Edit Storage Array dialog box, click Close. The list of storage arrays in the Array Manager shows the changed controller IP addresses for the storage array. Managing Storage Array Passwords Storage array passwords in the Array Manager must match storage array passwords in the storage management software. The Password field in the Details section of the Array Manager shows whether a storage array has a password in the Array Manager and whether the password must be verified. The Password Status column in the list of storage arrays shows whether the password in the Array Manager matches the password in the storage management software. Figure 79 on page 41 shows the password icons and their statuses. Verifying Storage Array Passwords After you have added or changed a storage array password, verify that the password in the Array Manager matches the password in the storage management software. 1. In the left pane of the Array Manager, select the All Storage Arrays folder. The right pane shows all managed storage arrays. 2. In the right pane, select the storage array to edit. 3. Changing Storage Array Passwords When a storage array password is changed in the storage management software, the Array Manager no longer recognizes the Array Manager password as valid, and you must change the password in the Array Manager to match the password in the storage management software. To change a password, perform the following actions. 1. In the left pane of the Array Manager, select the All Storage Arrays folder. The right pane shows all managed storage arrays. 2. In the right pane, select the storage array to edit. 3. In the Details section, click Edit. The Edit Storage Array dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 85 on page In the Password text box, highlight and remove the existing password, and type the new one. 5. Save the password. To verify the password before saving and closing the Edit Storage Array dialog box, click Verify Password. To save the password without verifying its status, click OK. o o o The Array Manager saves the password in the Array Manager persistent storage. The Edit Storage Array dialog box closes. Managing Storage Array Tag Assignments Tag Keys and Tag Values Storage array tag keys and tag values are user-defined properties. You can create, assign, edit, and remove tags keys and tag values. Creating and Assigning Tag Keys and Tag Values You can create one or more pairs of tag keys and tag values for a storage array within the following constraints. Each tag key must be associated with a tag value. One tag key can be associated with multiple tag values. One tag value can be associated with multiple tag keys. 58 To create tag keys and tag values for a storage array after the storage array was added to the Array Manager, perform the following actions. 1. In the left pane of the Array Manager, select the All Storage Arrays folder. The right pane shows all managed storage arrays. 2. In the right pane, select the storage array to edit. 3. In the Details section, click Edit. The Edit Storage Array dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 85 on page In the Tag key text box, type the tag key to assign to the storage array. 5. In the Tag value text box, type the tag value for the tag key. 6. Click Assign. The new tag key and tag value appear in the Tags assigned list. 7. To create and assign another tag key and tag value, repeat step 4 through step To close the Edit Storage Array dialog box without adding another tag key and tag value, click Save. The Edit Storage Array Tag Assignments dialog box closes. The Array Manager saves the tag key and the tag value in persistent storage. The tag keys and tag values appear in the Manage Tags dialog box and are available for assignment to other storage arrays. New tag keys and tag values appear in the Tags Assignment table in the Array Manager when you select the storage array in the right pane. NOTE There might be a one-second delay or a two-second delay before the tag keys and tag values appear. Sorting Tag keys and Tag Values You can sort tag keys and tag values in either ascending or descending order. To sort tag keys and tag values, click in the table column heading. An arrow appears in the table column heading. To sort in ascending order, click. To sort in descending order, click. Removing Tag Keys and Tag Values Removing a tag key and its associated tag value from a storage array removes them from the storage array, but does not remove them from the Array Manager. The tag key and tag value can still be assigned to, or available for assignment to, other storage arrays. 1. In the left pane of the Array Manager, select the All Storage Arrays folder. The right pane shows all managed storage arrays. 2. In the right pane, select the storage array to edit. 3. In the Details section, click Edit. The Edit Storage Array dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 85 on page In the Tags Assigned table, select the tag key and the tag value to remove. 5. 60 Managing Storage Array Tags Keys and Tag Values Tag keys and tag values are terms or labels that you can add and use to identify or classify the storage arrays in the Array Manager. The Array Manager tag has a key and a value. You can use tags for browsing and as search terms. This chapter describes how to manage tag keys and tag values globally in the Array Manager. To create and assign tag keys and tag values when you add one or more storage arrays to the Array Manager, go to Appendix A, Automatically Scanning and Discovering Storage Arrays, on page 114 and Appendix B, Manually Adding Storage Arrays, on page 120. To create and assign new tag keys and tag values, to change existing tag keys and tag values, and to remove tag keys and tag values for storage arrays already in the Array Manager, go to Managing Storage Array Tag Assignments Tag Keys and Tag Values on page 51. You can perform the following tasks to manage storage array tags in the Array Manager. View existing tag key and tag value assignments. Add, associate, and assign tag keys and tag values. Delete tag keys and tag values. Rename tag keys and tag values. Change storage array tag assignments for tag keys and tag values. Viewing Existing Tag Key and Tag Value Assignments 1. In the Commands pane in the bottom-left corner of the Array Manager, click Manage Tags. The Manage Tags dialog box appears. NOTE The Tag Assignments table in the Details section of the Array Manager shows the tag keys and tag values currently assigned to the storage array. The Tag Values Assigned to Panels table shows the panel and tag value associated with the selected tag key in the Tag Keys list. When the Tag Values Assigned to Panels table is empty, no panel is associated with the selected tag key. The Tag Values Assigned to Storage Arrays table shows the storage array and tag values associated with the selected tag key in the Tag Keys list. When the Tag Values Assigned to Storage Arrays table is empty, no storage arrays are associated with the selected tag key. 61 Adding Tag Keys and Tag Values When you add a tag key, you do not have to add and associate a corresponding tag value; you can add and associate the tag value to the tag key later. However, when you add a tag value, you must first select a tag key to associate with the tag value. A tag value can be associated with multiple tag keys Multiple tag values can be associated with a tag key. Adding Tag Keys 1. In the Commands pane in the bottom-left corner of the Array Manager, click Manage Tags. The Manage Tags dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 90 on page In the Tag key text box, type the name of the new tag key. NOTE Some tag keys have an autocomplete feature. 3. Click Add. The new tag key appears in the Tag Keys list. The new tag key is saved in the storage management software. 4. To create another tag key, repeat step 2 and step To close the Manage Tags dialog box without making another change, click Close. Adding Tag Values 1. Renaming Tag Keys and Tag Values A renamed tag key keeps its association with its tag values, and a renamed tag value keeps its association with its tag keys. You can rename a tag key without renaming its associated tag values. You can rename a tag value without renaming its associated tag keys. Renaming Tag Keys 1. In the Commands pane in the bottom-left corner of the Array Manager, click Manage Tags. 63 Deleting Tag Keys and Tag Values You can delete user-defined tag keys and tag values. Deleting Tag Keys Deleting a tag key deletes it permanently from the Array Manager and from all storage arrays to which the tag key was assigned. A deleted tag key cannot be recovered. To use the tag key again, you must re-add it. See Adding Tag Keys on page 55. NOTE Deleting a tag key deletes the associated tag values unless the tag values are associated with another tag key. 1. In the Commands pane in the bottom-left corner of the Array Manager, click Manage Tags. 2. The Manage Tags dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 90 on page In the Tag Keys list, select the tag key to delete. 4. Click Delete. The tag key is immediately deleted from the Tag Keys list and from the Oracle database. 5. To delete another tag key, repeat step 3 and step To close the Manage Tags dialog box without making another change, click Close. Deleting Tag Values Deleting a tag value in the Manage Tags dialog box removes the tag value from the tag key and from all storage arrays to which the tag key and the tag value were assigned. Deleting a tag value does not delete the associated tag key, nor does it permanently delete the tag value from the Oracle database. 1. In the Commands pane in the bottom-left corner of the Array Manager, click Manage Tags. 2. The Manage Tags dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 90 on page In the Tag Keys list, select the tag key from which to delete the tag value. 4. In the Tag Values list, select the tag value to delete from the selected tag key. 5. Click Delete. 6. The tag value is immediately deleted from the Tag Values list and from the Oracle database. To delete another tag value, repeat step 3 and step To close the Manage Tags dialog box without making another change, click Close. Managing Tag Keys and Tag Values in Panels The Manage Tags dialog box shows all of the tag keys and their associated tag values in the Array Manager. You can perform the following actions in the Manage Tags dialog box: Add user-defined tag keys and tag values Assign user-defined and system-owned tag keys and tag values Remove user-defined and system-owned tag keys and tag values Delete user-defined tag keys and tag values Rename user-defined tag keys and tag values To manage tag keys and tag values in panels, click Manage Tags in the Commands pane in the bottom-left corner of the Array Manager. Adding a User-Defined Tag Value You can add a user-defined tag value to a system-owned tag key. 1. Select the tag key with which to associate the tag value. 2. Type the tag value in the Add Tag Value text box. 3. Click Add. The tag value is associated with the tag key and appears in the Tag Values list. Assigning a Tag Key and Associated Tag Value A newly assigned tag key and tag value are not assigned to a storage array or to a panel. You cannot assign them to a storage array or panel in the Manage Tags dialog box. 1. Click Close. The Manage Tags dialog box closes and the Array Manager appears. 2. In the Details section of the Array Manager, click Edit. The Edit Storage Array dialog box appears. 3. Assign the tag key and the tag value as described in Adding a Tag Key and a Tag Value to a Storage Array on page 60. After a tag key and tag value have been assigned to a storage array, the storage array appears in the Tag Values Assigned to Storage Arrays table in the Manage Tags dialog box. Assign the tag key and the tag value as described in Adding a Tag Key and a Tag Value to a Storage Array on page 60. Until a newly added tag key and tag value pair has been initially assigned to a storage array, the Manage Tags dialog box does not show the storage array. Therefore, to perform any action with a newly added tag key and tag value, you must first assign them to a storage array. After a newly added tag key and tag value have been added to a storage array, you can add, remove, and rename them. Editing Tag Keys and Tag Values You can add, change, and remove tag keys and tag values, for storage arrays currently added to and configured in the Array Manager. 1. In the Array Manager, select the storage array for which to add, change, or remove a tag key, tag value or both. 2. In the Details section of the Array Manager, click Edit. 3. 66 Adding a Tag Key and a Tag Value to a Storage Array Adding a tag key and its associated tag value to a storage array automatically creates both the tag key and the tag value and adds them to the Oracle database and the Manage Tags dialog box. The tag key and tag value are available for adding panels. For more information about panels, go to Storage Array Panels on page Type the tag key name in the Tag key text box. When the tag key already exists as a tag key in the panel, the completed tag key appears. To automatically fill the text box, click the completed tag key 2. Type the tag value in the Tag value text box. When the tag value is already associated with the tag key in the panel, the completed tag value appears. To automatically fill the text box, click the completed tag value. 3. Click Assign. The tag key and tag value appear in the Tags Assigned table. 4. Click OK. The tag key and tag value appear in the Tag Assignments table in the Array Manager. Removing a Tag Key and a Tag Value from a Storage Array Removing a tag key and its associated tag value from a storage array removes them only from the Tags Assigned table, but does not remove them from the Oracle database. They remain available in the Manage Tags dialog box for adding to other storage arrays and for adding panels. For more information about panels, go to Storage Array Panels on page In the Tags Assigned table, select the tag key and the tag value to remove. 2. Click Remove. The tag key and tag value are removed from the Tags Assigned table. 3. Click OK. The tag key and tag value are removed from the Tag Assignments table in the Array Manager. Changing the Tag Value Associated with a Tag Key You can change a tag value associated with a tag key, but you cannot change just a tag key in the Edit Storage Array dialog box. To change both a tag key and its associated tag value, remove the old tag key and tag value from the Tags Assigned table, and then add both a new tag key and a new tag value. To change a tag key, use the Manage Tags dialog box, as described in Managing Tag Keys and Tag Values in Panels on page 59. To change the tag value associated with an existing tag key, perform these actions: 1. Type the existing tag key name in the Tag key text box. When the tag key already exists as a tag key in the panel, the completed tag key appears. To automatically fill the text box, click the completed tag key. 2. Type the new tag value in the Tag value text box. When the tag value already exists in the Manage Panels dialog box, the completed tag value appears. 67 3. Click Assign. The tag key and tag value appear in the Tags Assigned table. 4. Click OK. The tag key and tag value appear in the Tag Assignments table in the Array Manager. Storage Array Panels You can add panels to organize and classify storage arrays based on common tag keys and tag values and to manage the storage arrays in the Array Manager more efficiently. Panels appear on the left side of the Array Manager in descending order in which they were created. The Array Manager contains the default All Storage Arrays panel. The panel title shows the panel name and the number of storage arrays in the panel. Except for the All Storage Arrays panel, you can edit panel names and contents. You cannot change the order in which panels appear. Adding Panels to the Array Manager Adding a user-defined panel creates a folder in the panel with the same name as the panel. The folder lists the storage arrays that meet the user-defined criteria established by the tag keys and tag values for the panel. Storage arrays that appear in panels also appear in the All Storage Arrays panel. You can perform all storage array management tasks in either the user-defined panels, the Array Manager Storage Arrays panel, or the All Storage Arrays panel. Figure 99 on page 63 shows the All Storage Arrays panel, the Array Manager Storage Arrays panel, and a user-defined panel. 1. In the Commands pane in the bottom-left corner of the Array Manager, click Add Panel. The Add Panel dialog box appears. Figure 96 Add Panel Dialog Box 2. In the Panel Name text box, type a unique name for the panel. 3. In the Tag Key drop-down list, select an existing tag key. 68 4. In the Tag Value drop-down list, select a tag value that is associated with the tag key. NOTE indicates the wildcard that selects all tag values listed in the Tag Value drop-down list that are associated with the tag key. When you select *, you cannot select individual tag values. 5. To add more tag keys and tag values to the panel, repeat step 3 and step Click OK. The Add Panel dialog box closes. The new panel appears at the bottom of the left pane and above the Commands pane in the bottom-left corner of the Array Manager. Changing Panel Names Changing a panel name changes the name of the folder in the panel. You cannot change the panel names and folder names of system-owned panels. 1. In the left pane of the Array Manager, select the panel for which to change the name. 2. In the Commands pane in the bottom-left corner of the Array Manager, click Edit. The panel name and folder name change, but all other properties stay the same. To change any of the other properties, go to the section that describes those properties. 69 Removing Panels The default All Storage Arrays panel shows all storage arrays in the Array Manager. Removing the panel removes the panel and its contents, but the storage arrays remain in the All Storage Arrays panel. 73 Viewing the Event Log The Event Log shows the following types of events for a storage array in either a summary table or a detailed description. All events Critical events Informational events Warning events To open the Event Log, perform the following actions. 1. In the All Storage Arrays panel, select the storage array for which to view the Event Log. The Commands pane appears below the storage array summary information. To show more information about an event, select the event and select View Details. The default number of events in the table is 100. To view a different number of events, perform the following actions. 1. Either type the number in the Retrieve the most recent events text box, or use the up arrow or down arrow to select the number of events. 2. Click Update. 3. To save the changed number of events, click Save As. To reorder the events in the table, click in a column heading and click on the up arrow or down arrow that appears. 3. Click Close. Refreshing the Storage Array Information To update and refresh the storage array information, click Refresh in the Commands pane in the top-right corner of the Summary view. Automatically Saving Storage Array Configuration Changes When Automatic Save Configuration is enabled, the NetApp SANtricity Plug-in automatically saves the new configuration of the storage array after a configuration event has occurred on the storage array, either from the NetApp SANtricity Plug-in or from the storage management software. The configuration changes are saved to a backup script file. A new script file is automatically created and saved for each configuration change. Automatic Save Configuration saves the last 15 backup script files in the Oracle Home savecfg directory. CAUTION Only the base configuration for the storage array is saved. The NetApp SANtricity Plug-in does not save or back up data on the storage array volumes. Objects such as snapshots, volume copies, and remote mirrors are not saved to the script file. 75 When a configuration event happens, a four-minute timer starts on the application server. If no other configuration event occurs during the four-minute window, the configuration is saved, and a backup script file is created and saved. If another modification event occurs within that four-minute window, the timer is reset to four minutes. If no other configuration event happens during that four-minute window, the configuration is saved, and a backup script file is created and saved. To enable Automatic Save Configuration, perform the following steps: 1. In the Commands pane of the Summary view, click Automatically Save Configuration. If an error message appears informing you that your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded, add the non-secured http address for your application server to the trusted sites list in Internet Explorer. 3. 77 Volumes The Volumes view in the Array Manager provides a logical view of the storage arrays and shows the volume capacity and how the storage capacity is allocated. 84 Creating a New Volume on a Disk Pool When you create a volume on a DDP, the DDP defines the I/O settings for the new volume. You can create thin-provisioned volumes on a DDP. Create a Normal Volume on a Disk Pool To create a normal volume on a DDP, perform step 1 through step 10 in Creating a New Volume on a Volume Group on page 76, but you cannot change the default I/O settings. Create a Thin-Provisioned Volume on a Disk Pool To create a thin-provisioned volume on a DDP, perform step 1 through step 10 in Creating a New Volume on a Volume Group on page 76. In the All Storage Array panel, select the storage array. 2. In the Volumes tree, select the volume, volume group, or disk pool. 3. In the Commands pane of the Volumes view, click Delete. You must create deleted volumes again. 4. Click OK. Creating Snapshots You can create snapshots, disable snapshots, and re-create snapshots only when the Snapshot premium feature is enabled on the storage array. For more information about snapshots, go to Snapshots on page 97. You can use the legacy Snapshot command on the Volumes page to create a snapshot of a volume in a volume group. You cannot use the legacy Snapshot command on the Volumes page to create a snapshot of either a thin-provisioned volume or a volume in in a disk pool. To create a snapshot of a thin-provisioned volume or a volume in a disk pool, go to Snapshots on page 97. Creating Volume Snapshots You can create snapshot groups and snapshot images of a volume group, but you cannot create a snapshot of a volume group or of a disk pool. To create a snapshot of a volume, perform the following actions. 1. In the All Storage Array panel, select the storage array. 2. In the Volumes tree, select the volume. 3. In the Commands pane of the Volumes view, click Create Snapshot. Click OK. Redistributing Volumes Redistributing volumes in a storage array is an option when the distribution is not optimal. When the volume distribution is not optimal, the Redistribute Volumes command is active. When the distribution is optimal, the Redistribute Volumes command is inactive. NOTE Make sure that volumes are not in use before you redistribute them. 1. In the All Storage Array panel, select the storage array. 2. In the Volumes tree, select the volume. 3. The volumes in the storage array are optimally redistributed, and the Redistribute Volumes command is now inactive. 93 Volume Copy The Volume Copy Pairs table in the Volume Copy view shows the volume copy pairs for the managed storage arrays. Volume Copy is available in the Array Manager only when the Volume Copy premium feature is enabled in the storage management software. Creating a Snapshot of the Volume Copy When you create a snapshot of the source volume, the source volume is read-write during the copy process. When you create a copy of the source volume without creating a snapshot of the source volume, the source volume is read-only during the copy process. You can either automatically create a snapshot of the volume copy, or you can create a customized snapshot of the volume copy. To create a volume copy without creating a snapshot, go to Selecting the Target Volume and Priority on page 89. Automatically Create a Snapshot of the Volume Copy 1. In the Create Volume Copy Select Source Volume dialog box, select the Create snapshot for volume copy box. 2. Click Next. The Create Volume Copy Select Target Volume and Priority dialog box appears. 3. Go to Selecting the Target Volume and Priority on page 89. Customize the Snapshot of the Volume Copy 1. Removing a volume copy pair does not remove either the target volume or the data residing on the target volume. 1. In the All Storage Arrays panel, select the storage array from which to remove a volume copy pair. 2. In the Volume Copy Pairs tables, select the volume copy pair to be removed. 3. In the Commands pane of the Volume Copy view, click Remove Copy Pair. The Remove Copy Pair dialog box appears. Figure 148 Remove Copy Pair 4. Click OK. Recopying a Volume Copy The Recopy command will recopy all data from the source volume to the target volume of the volume copy pair. After the recopy process completes, the target volume is read-only to hosts. Any snapshots associated with the target volume fail. CAUTION The recopy process overwrites all data on the target volume. Before you start the recopy process, make sure the target volume data is no longer needed or has been backed up. 1. In the All Storage Arrays panel, select the storage array with the volume copy pair on which to perform the recopy operation. 2. In the Volume Copy Pairs tables, select the volume copy pair for which to recopy data from the source volume to the target volume. 3. In the Commands pane of the Volume Copy view, click Recopy. Synchronous Mirroring The Mirrored Pairs table in the Synchronous Mirroring view shows the mirrored pairs for the managed storage arrays. Synchronous Mirroring is available in the Array Manager only when the Synchronous Mirroring premium feature is enabled in the storage management software. In the Secondary Volume drop-down list, select the secondary volume to be the target of the primary volume. 9. Select the write mode for the remote mirror. For the synchronous write mode, you cannot add the remote volume mirror to a write consistency group. For the asynchronous write mode, you can select whether to add the remote volume mirror to a write consistency group. 10. Click Next. The Create Remote Volume Mirror Select Secondary Volume dialog box appears. 11. Choose resynchronization method to use. 12. In the drop-down list, select the synchronization priority for the mirror. 13. Click Next. 14. Review the Confirmation page. 15. Click Finish to establish the mirror relationship. Removing Mirrored Pairs Removing a mirrored pair breaks the synchronous mirroring association between the volume at the primary site and the volume at the secondary site. After the operation completes, the synchronous mirroring status between the volumes is lost. For synchronous mirroring to be re-established between mirrored pairs, a full resynchronization must occur. 1. Select an existing mirrored pair from the Mirrored Pairs table. 2. Click Remove Mirrored Pairs. 3. Click OK to remove the mirrored pair or Cancel to about the process within the Remove Mirrored Pairs dialog box. NOTE The remove action will not remove the secondary volume from the remote array or remove the existing Testing Mirror Communication Testing mirrored communication shows the round-trip times between the volumes in the mirrored pair. The times appear as average round-trip times, shortest round-trip times, and longest round-trip times. 102 To test mirrored communication, click Test Mirrored Communication in the Commands area. Click OK to close the dialog box after reviewing the information display. Suspending Mirroring 1. Select the mirrored pair from the Mirrored Pairs table. 2. Click Suspend Synchronous Mirroring in the Commands area. 3. Click OK to suspend the selected mirror pair or Cancel to abort the operation. The I/O between the mirrored pairs is suspended, but the mirrored association is maintained. Resuming Mirroring This option is available only for mirrored pairs that have been suspended. 1. Select the suspended mirror pair from the Mirrored Pairs table. 2. Click Resume Mirroring. 3. Choose OK to resume mirroring of the selected mirror pair or Cancel to about the operation. The I/O between the mirrored pairs resumes, and out-of-sync data is resynchronized. Changing Mirror Roles Changing mirror roles makes the following role changes in the mirrored pair: Promotes the secondary volume to the primary volume and allows read-write access to the volume from the remote location. Demotes the primary volume to the secondary volume and disables writes to the volume from the primary site. To change mirror roles, perform the following steps: 1. Select the mirrored pair from the Mirrored Pairs table. 2. Click Change Mirrored Roles. 3. Choose OK to change the mirror roles or Cancel to abort the operation. Changing Mirror Parameters To modify the parameters of a mirrored pair, such as the synchronization priority, the resynchronization method, or the write mode, perform the following actions. 1. Refreshing the Synchronous Mirroring Information Refreshing the synchronous mirroring information forces a status update of the mirrored pairs of the storage array. To update and refresh the information in the Asynchronous Mirroring view, click Refresh in the Commands pane of the Asynchronous Mirroring view. Snapshots Snapshot images are point-in-time (PiT) images of the base volume that you can use to either revert to a volume or create a volume to present to a host. The volume can be either read-only or read-write. Snapshots are available in the Array Manager only when the Snapshots premium feature is enabled in the storage management software. In the Volumes tree, select the snapshot group or snapshot volume. 3. In the Snapshot Groups or Snapshot Volumes table, select the snapshot group or snapshot volume to rename. 4. Click Rename. Refreshing the Snapshot Information To update and refresh the information in the Snapshots view, click Refresh in the Commands pane of the Snapshots view. Asynchronous Mirroring Asynchronous mirroring (ARVM) replicates data from source volumes in a primary storage array to a target volume on a remote storage array. You can manage the synchronization process of creating a consistent data set on a remote storage array. ARVM utilizes a PiT replication strategy and supports both iscsi and Fibre Channel connections between the primary storage array and the remote storage array. Asynchronous Mirroring is available in the Array Manager only when the Asynchronous Mirroring premium feature is enabled in the storage management software. Asynchronous Mirror Groups An asynchronous mirror group can contain several mirrored pairs that you can manage as one entity. A mirrored pair consists of a primary local volume and a secondary remote volume that contain identical copies of the same data. A storage array can contain up to four asynchronous mirror groups. An asynchronous mirror group defines and controls the synchronization settings for all mirrored pairs within the group. Each mirrored pair in an asynchronous mirror group shares the same synchronization settings, primary role and secondary role, and write mode. You can synchronize all mirrored pairs in the asynchronous mirror group at the same time. Write operations are performed to the primary volume and then replicated to the secondary volume based on the synchronization settings of the asynchronous mirror group. The local storage array performs the primary role in the asynchronous mirror group. All volumes added to the asynchronous mirror group on the local storage array perform the primary role in the mirror relationship. The remote storage array performs the secondary role in the asynchronous mirror group. All volumes added to the asynchronous mirror group on the remote storage array perform the secondary role in the mirror relationship. To configure asynchronous mirrors within the NetApp SANtricity Plug-in, both the local array and the remote array must be in the Array Manager. If either array is removed from the Array Manager, any asynchronous mirror groups configured between the two arrays do not appear in the Array Manager. Mirrored Pairs A mirrored pair consists of a relationship between a primary volume on a local primary storage array and a secondary volume on a remote secondary storage array. An asynchronous mirror group is associated with the local storage array and remote storage array in the mirrored pair. Both volumes in a mirrored pair contain identical copies of the same data. An asynchronous mirror group groups mirrored pairs as a single entity and controls their replication settings. An asynchronous mirror group can contain several mirrored pairs that you can manage as one entity. Write operations are performed to the primary volume and then replicated to the secondary volume based on the synchronization settings of the asynchronous mirror group. Figure 172 Asynchronous Mirror Groups Table and Mirrored Pairs Table Changing Roles You can promote a secondary mirror group to the role of primary mirror group, and you can demote a primary mirror group to the role of secondary mirror group. NOTE If the asynchronous mirror group is not resynchronized, data written to primary volumes after the last synchronization is lost and cannot be recovered. For more information about resynchronization go to Manually Resynch on page 108. After a role change, hosts mapped to the former primary volumes in the asynchronous mirror group do not have write access to the mirrored volumes. Hosts in the asynchronous mirror group that was promoted to the primary role have write access to the mirrored volumes. To change roles, perform the following steps: 1. In the Asynchronous Mirror Groups table, select the asynchronous mirror group. 2. Click Change Roles. The Confirm Change dialog box appears. The Resynchronize mirror group now check box is selected by default. To prevent the resynchronization, clear the check box. 3. Select Yes, I wish to perform this operation. 4. Click OK. The Asynchronous Mirror Groups table shows the role change for the asynchronous mirror group. In the Mirrored Pairs table, the primary and secondary volumes in the asynchronous mirror group have switched roles. 114 Suspending Mirroring When mirroring is suspended, the volumes in the mirrored pairs cannot synchronize data. The suspend-mirroring operation must be performed by the storage array in the primary role for the asynchronous mirror group. 1. In the Asynchronous Mirror Groups table, select the asynchronous mirror group. 2. Click Suspend Mirroring. The Suspend Mirroring dialog box appears. 3. Select Yes, I wish to perform the operation. 4. Click OK. Resuming Mirroring Mirroring can be resumed only when all members of the asynchronous mirror group are in the Optimal status. The resume operation can be performed only by the storage array that has the primary role for the asynchronous mirror group. 1. In the Asynchronous Mirror Groups table, select the suspended asynchronous mirror group. 2. Click Resume Mirroring. The Resume Mirroring dialog box appears. 3. Select Yes, I wish to perform the operation. 4. Click OK. Manually Resynchronizing Mirrored Pairs A manual resynchronization immediately resynchronizes the data on all mirrored pairs within the asynchronous mirror group. You must perform a manual resynchronization on the storage array that has the primary role for the asynchronous mirror group. NOTE You cannot perform a manual resynchronization until the minimum 10-minutes wait time between synchronizations has elapsed. To manually synchronize an asynchronous mirror group, perform the following steps: 1. In the Asynchronous Mirror Groups table, select an asynchronous mirror group. 2. Click Manual Resync. The Manual Resync dialog box appears. 3. Select Yes, I wish to perform the operation. 4. Click OK. Deleting Mirror Groups Deleting an ASYNCHRONOUS MIRROR GROUP breaks all mirrored pair, breaks all mirrored pair relationships, and deletes the asynchronous mirror group on both the local storage array and the remote storage array. Primary and secondary volumes return to standard volume status. No data is deleted from the volumes. The mirror relationship cannot be resumed after the delete asynchronous mirror groups operation starts. You can delete only empty asynchronous mirror groups. If an asynchronous mirror group contains any volumes, delete the volumes before you try to delete the asynchronous mirror group. 1. In the All Storage Arrays table, select the storage array from which to delete an asynchronous mirror group. 2. In the Asynchronous Mirror Groups table, select an asynchronous mirror group to delete. 3.
