2 VEA WEB The initial version of Vea Web, included in this release, offers the ability to view dashboards and run data extracts directly from a web browser. Accessing Vea Web Existing Vea users can log into Vea Web using the same credentials they use to login to the Vea client application. Figure 1.1 *Adding or modifying users must still be done through the Vea client application Using Vea Web Once logged in you will be presented with a navigation menu on the left and a welcome screen on the main panel of the application. Dashboards Presents a list of dashboards that you are the owner of. Simply click the dashboard name to launch the corresponding dashboard view. Shared Dashboards Presents a list of dashboards that another user has shared with you. Dashboard Options Used to set the date range parameters for the active dashboard view. You must click refresh to generate a dashboard view with the newly selected date parameters.

3 Download Spreadsheet Clicking this option will present a new view that will allow you to run extracts that have been defined within the Vea client application. See Figure 2.1 Edit Theme Used to edit the overall them of the website as well as the dashboard view itself. These selections apply at a per user level and will persist even after closing the browser window. Logout Used to end the current session of Vea Web and return to the login screen. Figure 2.1 Download Spreadsheet 1) Select an Extract by Name 2) Select Start and End Date Parameters 3a) Click download to download the file in the selected format. 3b) Click Open in Spreadsheet editor to open the file within an online spreadsheet editor.

4 USER ACCESS CHANGES Key Changes 1) Data Extracts will execute under a specific user context a. When executing as a result of a user action the following rules will apply. i. When initiated by a user with Admin privileges the extract will include results for any entities selected in the Server Tree during extract setup. ii. When initiated by a non admin user, the extract will only return results for entities in the defined Server Tree where the user has been granted access via Sensor Groups. 5 Scenario 3b *Non admin users will only see content for levels where they have been granted Sensor Group access at or above the same level 2) Dashboards a. All dashboards that use an extract for their datasource will be subject to the same user access changes. See figure 3.1 i. This includes dashboards being viewed through Vea Web s dashboard viewer. b. Dashboards that use a query for their datasource will not be impacted by user access changes. Figure 3.1 The dashboard on the left shows a dashboard map view for an admin user. This view displays all selected facilities. The dashboard on the right is the same dashboard only it has been requested by a regional manager who only has Sensor Group access to Great Lakes Region. 6 3) Jobs In order to extend the same user access changes to jobs, a new feature was added to Recipient Group definitions that links a recipient group with a known Vea User so that jobs can execute as the linked user. Upon initial deployment, this linked user field will be set to a default admin user to ensure no impact to existing schedule jobs. See Figure 4.1 As demonstrated with extracts and dashboards, when this field is set to a non admin user, the job will execute and only return content for entities in the Server Tree where the linked user has access via Sensor Groups. Consider a scenario where a job exists with 3 defined recipient groups (A, B and C). Groups A and B are linked with the Default User Admin account while Group C is linked to a known Vea user who has privileges provided by Sensor Groups. The summary below demonstrates how the job will run: 1) Run the job using default admin privileges 2) Deliver to all recipients in Groups A and B 3) Run the job using Group C s linked user s privileges 4) Deliver to all recipients in Group C

7 DASHBOARD SHARING With the ability to view dashboards in Vea Web and the ability to restrict content based on the described user access changes, a new function has also been provided to allow users to share Dashboards they have developed with other users. 1) Right click on an Existing Dashboard in Vea 2) Click Share to Open the Dashboard Sharing Dialog 3) Move Users from the Left Pane to the Right Pane to share the selected dashboard with that user. 4) Click Save to commit your selections. 5) The selected dashboard will visible the next the user opens Vea or Vea Web.

8 COMPONENT UPGRADE In order to take advantage of new features the primary component library (DevExpress) was updated in this version of the software. The link below provides a more complete list of new features; however, several of the most important upgrades will be detailed below. 1) Calculated Fields In prior versions of the DevExpress Dashboard Component, calculations often had to be performed at the time of generating the datasource. This release contains a new feature called Calculated Field that allows you to calculate a field at the time of report creation. In some cases this feature may simplify extract or query design by returning fields required for a calculation within the extract but not performing the calculation until the point of report creation. 2) Geospatial Components a. Cloropleth Map Link a parameter such as Facility State to map any metric. b. GeoPoint Map Provide Latitude and Longitude fields and map any metric for individual locations.

9 SYSTEM MANAGER GEOCODE FUNCTION In order to enable map views and support future integration with weather and other location specific data, a Geocode function has been added to System Manager. This function allows a user to fetch the latitude and longitude of a facility after inputting a valid address on the Facility Screen. *The Geocode button will only appear once this feature has been activate by providing a valid Geocode Api License key (details of obtaining this key are still in progress as of the date on this document) 1) The Geocode Address button will only be enabled once at least a Zip Code has been input. For better results, input as much of the address as is available. 2) Click Geocode Address. If communication with the Geocode Server fails an error message will be shown. 3) Select the most accurate result from the list. 4) Click accept to return the Latitude and Longitude to the Facility Screen 5) You must click Save on the Facility Screen to save the Latitude and Longitude to the database. *The Latitude and Longitude can be manually input as well if they were previously provided or obtained from another service.
