Version 10.4 The Desktop - Local 10.4 extension is compatible with ArcGIS Desktop Version This extension includes a new installer, which allows you to select a location (other than Program Files ) in which to install the Local extension. The user guide has been updated with a new installation procedure. The extension didn t allow users to specify an installation location. Version The Desktop - Local extension is compatible with ArcGIS Desktop This extension includes a new installer, which installs Visual C++ Run Time Library 2010 (if not already present on your computer), the Pictometry extension, the Pictometry Image Driver, and a configuration utility that activates the Image Driver. (The Image Driver is needed in order to use the Add Image to Map feature.) This version includes an updated user guide. Whenever an image cannot be displayed, regardless of the reason, the extension displays the same message "Unable to get NIW Image. Unable to determine the type of indirect image." Version The extension is compatible with ArcGIS Desktop Copyright Pictometry International Corp. 1

Lat and Long values are now displayed with 6 places after the decimal point. The on-image Navigation Camera buttons now have descriptive tool tips (such as view from east and view from west ). The location coordinates and the file name displayed in the Status bar overlap due to constraints with ActiveX control. To avoid this problem, the Lat Long values are now rounded to 6 decimal places and the filename is no longer shown. An issue with the misalignment of image tiles was identified as an old NIW issue. If you are seeing misaligned images, be sure to upgrade your NIW software to the most recent version. GIS layers that contain features that extend well beyond the boundaries of the image may not render correctly on images. A.net error occurs when a user tries to update their settings and an older version of the ActiveX control is found on their system. The error prevents the user from updating their settings. With this version, the user can successfully update their settings, except for Pan Options Between Images, which needs the latest ActiveX control. Now when a user updates settings, a warning message appears in the Status bar. The message notifies the user that they should update their system with the most current ActiveX control. Version The Pictometry Update ArcMap site now contains the latest release of the Pictometry for ArcGIS extension. The Query tool is now called the Identify tool. The Pictometry Settings button has been renamed to Pictometry Local Settings. Some image layer types prevented overlays and image polygons from appearing on the map. Users could not successfully add an image to an ArcMap project with the Add image to map feature. Navigating to a different image orientation by using the navigation camera icons did not update the file name displayed on the Status bar. Ortho Sector tile images and area-wide images cannot be added to your ArcMap project with the Add image to Map button. If a user attempts to add a sector tile, a message appears in the status bar indicating that Sector tiles cannot be added to the map. Copyright Pictometry International Corp. 2

Images added to the map may be discolored. This is a bug in ESRI s stretching algorithm. The workaround, until we can find a fix or update from ESRI, is to set the stretch method to None as follows: To set the default stretch method for a particular layer: 1. Select the layer, and then select Properties. 2. Click the Symbology tab. 3. Set the stretch method to None. To set the default stretch method for all images: 1. Select ArcMAP Options from the Customize menu. 2. Select the Raster tab and the Raster layer sub-tab. 3. Set the default stretch method to None. Version The extension can detect the presence of an existing extension (if there is one) and uninstall it before installing the new one. Pictometry for ArcGIS extension is now compatible with ESRI ArcGIS for Desktop Version Users were unable to install the Pictometry for ArcGIS Desktop Extension. A message stated that ArcGIS was not installed, even though it was. Version The Pictometry for ArcGIS extension is compatible with ESRI ArcMap Version The name Pictometry for ArcGIS Desktop - Local replaces the former product name (Pictometry for ArcGIS Desktop). The new name identifies the local desktop nature of this extension and differentiates it from Pictometry web-based extensions. Panning between images. The Extension now automatically transitions to an adjacent image when a user pans to the edge of an image. A new option Pan Options Between Images (on the Settings dialog, Display tab) provides three options for panning between images: Auto transition to best image automatically pans to the adjacent image. (This option is the default.) Click to transition to best image user clicks near the edge of the image to display the adjacent image. Copyright Pictometry International Corp. 3

Stay on Current Image turns off navigation to the adjacent image. Synchronization. Users now have various options for automatically synchronizing the Pictometry image with the map. For example, they can automatically synchronize the map to the image when they pan the image, or they can synchronize the image when they pan the map. (Synchronization options are set on the Display tab of the Settings dialog.) Navigation Camera buttons. The View From toolbar buttons are now located in the Image Window and are referred to as Navigation Camera buttons. For clarity, the description that appears when a user moves the mouse over the Ortho camera now shows View Ortho instead of Ortho View. Submitting feedback. The Extension now includes a mechanism for submitting feedback to Pictometry. A new toolbar button opens a form for submitting feedback. Add images from NIW. The Add image to map tool can now add images from an NIW source.it also has a new look a new icon. When users click a navigation camera button, the Extension now places the center of the current image in the center of the Image Viewer window before switching to a different view of the current image. Previously, the location marked with the crosshair was re-centered and the new view reflected the location of the crosshair. This was disorienting when a user panned away from the crosshair before switching views. Previously, Windows 7 users had to be logged in as an administrator to use the Extension. Now Windows 7 users can use the Extension whether logged in as users or administrators. The Extension could not be installed on a computer running Windows 7, 64 bit. The Extension s installer was erroneously prompting users to install MS Visual C++2010, which isn t needed to install or run the Extension. The Add image to map tool now correctly finds the Image library after the library s location has been changed. The number of images users can add with the Add image to map feature during a single session has changed to 7 images. Previously the limit was 25 images per session. (Adding more than a few images can impact ArcMap performance.) This version includes an updated user guide. Version The Display tab of the Settings dialog now contains options that let you enable or disable messages relating to adding images. You can enable or disable: 1) a warning message that appears when you attempt to add an image and are close to your limit, and 2) an error message that appears you attempt to add an image and the limit has been met. You now have the option of automatically synchronizing the map with the current image as you pan it. This option is found on the Display tab of the Settings dialog. Copyright Pictometry International Corp. 4

An issue with the Pictometry for ArcGIS Desktop Extension Installer was corrected; and consequently, the OCX Installer is no longer needed. This version includes an updated user guide. Previously, if the Pictometry for ArcGIS Desktop Extension and Pictometry for ArcGIS Desktop-NAV Extension were on a single machine, uninstalling one of the two would cause issues in the remaining extension. This issue has been corrected. To avoid this issue please update to the latest Pictometry for ArcGIS Desktop Extension Some complex polygons do not draw correctly when overlaid on Pictometry images. Some settings are not applied until the next image is loaded. Layers that are grouped are not overlaid on Pictometry images. Tools do not work in Layout view. Switch to Data view to use the Pictometry tools. Some Windows 7 and Windows Vista users with restricted user privileges might not be able to use this Extension. Version The performance when rendering layers on Pictometry images has been improved, and in many cases greatly improved. Users should notice a distinct difference from previous versions. Most of the improvements were achieved by streamlining the bounding of the layers being displayed. Additional improvements were achieved by no longer attempting to display SDC (Smart Data Compression) data over the Pictometry image. See the next note for details. SDC (Smart Data Compression) layers are now being bypassed in the Pictometry image window. These layers have not been displayed over Pictometry images in previous versions, but the Extension would still attempt to process them. This processing has been eliminated, which improves performance when large SDC datasets are involved. Version The new name Pictometry for ArcGIS Desktop replaces the former product name (Pictometry PowrSuite ArcMap Extension). Copyright Pictometry International Corp. 5

The new Updater automatically checks for and notifies users when a new version of the Extension is available. Users can check for updates or disable the automatic check for updates on the new Updater tab of the Pictometry for ArcGIS Desktop Settings dialog. The Pictometry for ArcGIS Desktop Settings dialog (formerly called Pictometry PowrSuite Viewer Settings ) has been re-organized into multiple tabs for ease of use. This version includes updated user documentation the Pictometry for ArcGIS Desktop Guide. If users have multiple shapefile layers turned on and are using the Extension that includes the Transform, layers do not display correctly in the Image Viewer window. All layers are shown in the same color (the color of the shapefile listed first in the ArcMap Table of Contents). The Add Image to Map button is not always available. Users cannot currently add a tile to their ArcMap projects by using the Add image to map button. Although the image is listed in the ArcMap Table of Contents, it is not added to the project and does not open in the Image Viewer window. (Applies only to images from an NIW server) Images added to ArcMap with the Add image to map feature are deleted from the ArcMap Table of Contents, even though a user attempted to delete them but did not save the deletion when exiting ArcMap. Version The following note pertains to version only: Note: Due to the recently released ESRI ArcMap 10 Service Pack 1, the Pictometry PowrSuite Extension for ArcMap 10 is being offered as a Pre-Release. This software will expire on Thursday March 31, 2011 in anticipation of the formal release of the Pictometry Extension for ArcMap 10. Installation notes Note: US Customers can sign up for Pictometry Tech Updates at to be notified of new releases of this and other Pictometry products. All other Customers, please contact your Pictometry Representative. You must install the components in the following order: 1) Microsoft.NET 3.5 2) ESRI ArcMap 10.0 or higher. Be sure the.net components are installed. 3) Pictometry ArcMap Extension. Copyright Pictometry International Corp. 6

The Microsoft.NET components must be installed prior to ArcMap. Otherwise ArcMap will not install its.net ArcObjects. The Pictometry Extension relies on these.net ArcObjects. The installer will inform you if MS.NET or ArcObject.NET components are missing. This product is now one of a suite of extensions offered by Pictometry International for ESRI ArcMap, and as such, has a new product name Pictometry PowrSuite ArcMap Extension. This version now corresponds to the ArcMap release. This version uses ActiveX SDK 3.4. There are now two installers: one installs the Pictometry PowrSuite Transform (necessary in order to use the Add Image to Map feature) and one does not install the Transform (for customers who do not need this feature). If the Pictometry PowrSuite Transform was installed, the Pictometry Toolbar includes the Add Image to Map button. This feature enables users to open Pictometry Oblique (PSI) images within the native ESRI ArcMap data frame, up to the limits specified by their license. Note: To request this feature if it was not installed, please see your Pictometry Representative. This version includes updated user documentation the Pictometry PowrSuite ArcMap Extension Guide for ArcMap Version 10. Layers with a different coordinate system from the base map would sometimes fail to draw on the Pictometry image. Multiple image polygons are visible. (You see more than one set of annotations for the image polygon, view-region polygon, and current location marker.) This probably occurred because you saved your map by using File Save and the temporary annotations designating the image footprint, view region, and current location were saved with it. To fix this, click the ArcMap tool Select Elements, select the annotations to be removed, and press the DELETE key. Version A new ActiveX control was built with VS This should clear up extraction issues. Mouse zoom updates the reported zoom level. Settings dialog startup delay due to broken NIW reference. Copyright Pictometry International Corp. 7

Settings lost if installed by one user and run under another account. Uses ActiveX SDK 3.4. Version Moved settings file to support roaming profiles (C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Application Data\Pictometry) The mouse wheel now zooms in and out for all tools. Uses ActiveX SDK 3.3. Fixed Orthos with separate trailers through NIW. Version Added better support for NIW and multiple warehouses on the Settings dialog. Built for ArcMap 9.3 or higher. Version Added better support for NIW and multiple warehouses on the Settings dialog. Version Added Next and Previous buttons to cycle through the list of matching images for the current orientation. Added additional logging via a registry key. Uses ActiveX SDK 3.2. Copyright Pictometry International Corp. 8

Version Fixed image extraction issues with Vista. Version Moved settings file to the User's Documents and Settings folder Application is now more non-administrator user friendly. Added extended error messages through the Status bar s tooltip. Fixed image extraction issues. Fixed the installer for 64-bit operating systems. Version Added overlay support for multiple rings within a polygon. Polygon line color now matches the outline color instead of the fill color for polygons. Added a new setting to specify the maximum number of points in a polygon before it is ignored. Very large polygons can take a long time to process and overlay on the images. The default is 1,000 points. Polygons larger than this setting are ignored. Fixed crash on exit problem. Fixed settings when Extension is installed by one user and run by another. Version Added the ability to printing an image. Copyright Pictometry International Corp. 9

Added the ability to extract portions of an image. Added the Pan Tool. Updated the ActiveX control. New documentation. Version Modified the installation to work with ArcMap 9.2 (.NET 2.0) Elements being edited are no longer overlaid when overlays are off. Version Added support for multiple warehouses separated by a semi-colon. Added support for external coordinate conversion through a separate DLL. Overlays that are not visible will not be drawn on the control. Fixed the error "Map does not contain a valid coordinate system" that occurred with custom coordinate systems. Version Symbolized layer overlays fixed. New domain licensing policy. Copyright Pictometry International Corp. 10

Version Some complex polygons do not draw correctly when overlaid on the Pictometry images. The setting option "Preserve Window on Map Close" is a workaround for ArcMap 9.0 and 9.1. If you plan to open and close more than one map in the same ArcMap session, then you should check this option. This will leave the Pictometry control active for the new maps. If you typically use only one map, then leave this option unchecked. This will properly clean up the Pictometry objects when exiting ArcMap. Otherwise, you may see an error when closing ArcMap. Note: This problem has been fixed in ArcMap 9.2 so you can leave this option checked. Some settings are not applied until the next image is loaded. Layers that are grouped are not overlaid. Curves are generalized when overlays are turned on. Tools do not work in Layout view. Switch to Data view to use the Pictometry tools. Copyright Pictometry International Corp. 11
