Amplify. Innovate. Empower. At SAP Innovation Camp. SAP Solution Manager 7.2: Accelerate the Digital Transformation Hands-on Exercises SAP Solution Manager 7.2 is the most complete lifecycle management solution for SAP and non-sap software. It allows you to continuously protect your investments, leverage innovation, and achieve value from your SAP solutions. In the following exercises, you will actively participate and get hands-on experience with SAP Solution Manager 7.2, running in an SAP Cloud Appliance Library (SAP CAL) environment. SAP Solution Manager 7.2 features a Web-based solution documentation; SAP Fiori Launchpad, ready-made deployment best practices; integrated Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) graphical modeling; and project and release management capabilities. The goal is to provide a comprehensive design and build environment that allows you to even more efficiently manage your existing ERP solutions and implement the next-generation business suite from SAP: SAP S/4HANA.
Best of all, after this hands-on session, you can start your own, personal SAP Solution Manager 7.2 system in the SAP Cloud Appliance Library (SAP CAL), and expand on these exercises with a 30-day trial system at an affordable cost. Your system was created from the SAP CAL solution Solution Manager 7.2 SPS05 for Content Activation Evaluation of a Customer s Own Documentation, Including SAP Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA. The Welcome document on the Windows desktop of your system describes the system landscape and available demo scenarios. More information on this solution can also be found at 2
Exercises 1. Connect to your windows frontend system in SAP CAL Working with Solution Administration Working with Solution Documentation Using Search Maintaining the Process Structure Assign a Development Object Working with Documents Using List View Modeling Business Processes Managing the Solution Documentation Lifecycle Focused Insights Dashboards CONNECT TO YOUR WINDOWS FRONTEND SYSTEM IN SAP CAL Objective Access the SAP CAL system you will use for today s exercises. Note: You must be on the open Internet, without using a VPN connection. 1.1 Double-click the.rdp file you have been provided and enter the password $oman2017. You should now see the Windows Desktop of your SAP CAL instance. 1.2 Select Connect if the following pop-up appears. 1.3 Close the Welcome document if it opens automatically. 3
This is the Windows desktop of the SAP CAL instance. Note: You could also connect to this system from your local SAPGUI, but to access browser-based applications you would need to adjust your local hosts file with the hostname and IP address of the system. For these exercises, you will connect via the Windows Remote Desktop, which automatically resolves the IP address to the system s host name and displays all web applications properly. Select the SAP Logon icon on the Windows desktop of the SAP CAL system. Select the A4H system, which is the SID of the SAP Solution Manager 7.2 system. 4
Logon to client 001 with user solman and password $oman2017. If you lock this user by mistake, you can unlock it in SU01 after logging on with DDIC / $oman2017. Select the link for SAP Solution Manager 7.2 Launchpad in your user menu. This can also be accessed via transaction code solman_workcenter. In the Project and Process Management area, click the tile Solution Administration which can also be accessed via transaction code soladm. 5
1.1 WORKING WITH SOLUTION ADMINISTRATION You are now in Solution Administration. Note: You are in the Corporate Solution (the only solution present on the system) and you can view other branches of the solution documentation. You can also view the tabs for System Landscape and what SAP Best Practices Packages have been installed on the system as Imports. Select the Imports tab if it s not already selected. When you are on the Imports tab strip as shown in the diagram above, you see a link Import. If you have maintained your backend connections from this system to SAP, you will be able to view available packages and download them into the system. Select the System Landscape tab to view the documented systems in the landscape. 6
Select the Branches tab to view the different branches (version levels) of the solution documentation. 1.2 WORKING WITH SOLUTION DOCUMENTATION Now, let s look at the solution documentation UI. Select the Open link of the Development branch: Now you are in the solution documentation UI of the Development branch. For reference in the following exercise, here are the main areas of the solution documentation screen. 7
Note: If you copy the URL of the Solution Documentation into the Firefox browser available on the Windows Desktop of the SAP Solution Manager 7.2 in SAP CAL system, you will experience faster performance compared to using MS Internet Explorer. Note: The Solution Documentation UI has a 5-minute timeout. If no activity is detected after 5 minutes, the application will display an error message. If this happens, simply restart the application from the Launchpad or transaction SOLDOC. For the exercise, make sure you are in the Development branch via the pull-down in the Global Functions area. Select the Favorites button, located in the Global Functions area. Select the favorite: BKZ Sales Order Processing with Collective Billing (Process) and make sure you in the Development branch. Your screen should look like the one below. This view of the solution documentation is called the Column Browser. It allows to navigate through the levels of documentation, from left to right. 8
Note the navigation path to this area at the top of the screen: This path is called the bread crumb. From the bread crumb, you can always determine your location in the levels of solution documentation. You can also slide the panes that separate the Attributes Pane on the right, and the Assignment List area on the bottom, by selecting and dragging the icon below for each pane, or clicking it icon to maximize/minimize. Here you can see the Assignment List and Attributes Pane. 9
Note: In the Assignment List outlined above, you can see some of the content that was delivered from a Best Practice Package for SAP S/4HANA, such as diagrams, process links, documents, and configuration objects. You are currently on the (highlighted) BKZ Sales Order Processing with Collective Billing process level, in the column to the right, you can see the business process steps that make up the business process. Select the process step Sales Order Entry. Once you select the process step, note that the content in the Attributes Pane and Assignments List will change. For example, you can see a Fiori executable assigned to this process step. If a managed SAP S/4HANA system was attached, you could run this executable on that system directly from the link. 10
Now, you can view the process step Sales Order Entry in the Process Step Library. In the Attributes Pane of the process step, select the Go To Original button as shown below: Go To Original button. If you check the bread crumb path, you will see that you are now in the Process Step Library: Let s examine the Fiori application for this process step. Select the Fiori executable by clicking on the box at the beginning of the line, as shown below: In the Attributes Pane, select the Go To Original button. 11
Now you see the executable in the Executable Library -> Executable Library (UI) folder. Note that the bread crumb has changed again. 12
1.3 USING SEARCH Now, let s try out the powerful Search capabilities of SAP Solution Manager 7.2. In the bread crumb path, select the very top level of Solution, so that you only see the Business Processes and Libraries folders as shown below. At the top right of the screen, enter the word order in the Search box. Press Enter or use the binocular icon and select Basic Search. Your search results will be displayed as shown. 13
Open the icon on the top left of the search results to view the Filter Pane. Choose pull-down arrow for Filter by, and select Type. You now see the number of objects by type. 14
Note: Since you selected the highest level of the Solution, you are seeing every object available in all structures. If you had selected a lower level, you would only see that level and below in your results. Notice that you see the number of objects by each category, and can filter the results. You can also navigate to the exact location of an object by clicking on the Path. Select the checkbox for Process Step <Orig.> Now you only see Process Steps that are originals, and not references to original steps. 15
Select the process step Change Sales Order and right-click. In the menu, select Where-Used List. You can now see relationships. 16
For the process step Change Order Quantity (Optional), click the path in the Path column. Now you have navigated to the browser location of this process step. 1.4 MAINTAINING THE PROCESS STRUCTURE Select the favorite BKZ Sales Order Processing with Collective Billing. In the Process Step area of the column browser (where the arrow appears in the above illustration), right-click to bring up the Context Menu. Then select New -> Process Step. 17
Enter the search term sales order and press Enter. You now see all Sales Orders process steps found in the Process Step Library. Select the first line Create Sales Orders and hit the OK button. In the Attributes Pane of your newly added Create Sales Orders, change the name to Create Sales Orders YOURNAME where YOURNAME is your own last name. For Responsible, use the pull-down and enter the last name DOE in the search area. Select business partner 161. This is a business partner that is already defined in the system to the SOLMAN user and assigned to a project manager role. Note: For the illustrations, the name DOE is used for YOURNAME. 18
Select Save in the Attributes pane. Note: This process step refers to a step in the Process Step Library, which is why it is marked Process Step <Ref.> Optionally, you can use the Go To Original button in the Attributes pane to view this step in the Process Step Library, where the step will be marked as <Orig.> 1.5 ASSIGN A DEVELOPMENT OBJECT Now, let s browse for and add a development object to the Assignment List of our newly created process step. Right-click in the Assignment List at the bottom of the screen, and use the path: New -> Developments -> Development Object as shown below. 19
Leave the Search box empty, and press Enter to display all found Development objects. Select a Development Object and press the OK button. The object is now added. In the Attributes Pane, press the Go To Original button. 20
You now see the development object original in the Development Library. 1.6 WORKING WITH DOCUMENTS Let s add a document (Test Case) to a process step. Use the Favorite to return to BLZ Sales Order Processing with Collective Billing. Select the process step Create Sales Order YOURNAME. Right-click in the Assignment List to bring up the Context Menu. Select New -> Test Cases -> Test Document (From Template) 21
Note: Ignore any Office Control messages. Microsoft Office is not installed on this SAP CAL system. If you create your own SAP CAL system in the future, you will install your own copy of MS Office. Give the test document a new name, and choose Document Type as ZFW. Set the Status to In Process if not already selected, then select OK. Now you see the document you created. Next, you will change to document status to Released so it can be released for productive use. With the document selected in the Assignment List, go to the Attributes Pane and change the document status to Released as shown. 22
Select Save to save the changes. 1.7 USING LIST VIEW List View is a handy way of viewing the solution documentation in an easy-to-filter list. Use the Favorite to return to BKZ Sales Order Processing with Collective Billing. Next, select List from the options at the top left of the screen: Now you see the same information you saw in the Column Browser, but in a list. 23
Note: As you did with the Search results earlier, you can see how many objects are in this area of the documentation, and filter accordingly. You can also jump to the location of an object by clicking on the Path. If you change your position in the bread crumb path, the List will adjust accordingly. Let s perform a mass change by assigning our business partner 161 to several process steps. Open the Filter panel on the left as before, and Check the box Process Step <Ref.>. The list now displays only process steps. 24
Select All by selecting the button at the top left corner of the table: In the Attributes Pane, you can now keep or overwrite the existing Responsible information. You will be overwriting with a new Responsible assignment, so select Overwrite from the pulldown. You can now assign all selected steps to our John Doe user. Mass changes for other attributes happen in the same manner. Select Save in the Attributes Pane to save the mass change. 25
End of Exercise 1 26
2 MODELING BUSINESS PROCESSES Now, you will review and model some business process diagrams. Use the favorite to return to BKZ Sales Order Processing with Collective Billing and change the view to the Browser view. Scroll down in the Assignment List to see an example of a process diagram. Close the Attributes Pane and the Assignment List to give yourself the largest workspace by clicking on the pane arrows. Select Fit to Space if necessary to expand the existing diagram to the largest size. You can also select F11 on your keyboard to expand the browser window, or magnify the browser window with <Ctrl> +. Now you can view the new Process Graphic UI, showing the process steps, gateways, and start and end events. Choose Close to return to the Column Browser. Expand the Assignment List, and right-click within the Assignment List to bring up the Context Menu. Choose New -> Collaboration Diagram. 27
Open the Attributes Pane, give the new diagram a name, and choose Diagram Type By Role, and Orientation - Horizontal. Press Enter or select the Save button. Open the new diagram by clicking the new name in the Assignment List. When the Initial Selection box appears, make sure the BKZ business process is selected, and select Add. 28
You now have an empty pool for the BKZ process. Click the Lane button in the Tool Palette: Lane button. The tool palette will expand as shown below. 29
You will now add some new roles. Enter Sales Agent and Click the + button this new Role. Create additional lanes for the roles Warehouse Clerk and Accountant the same way. To insert each role into the BKZ process pool, click on the role name, move the mouse over to the pool, and click again to release the role as a lane. Once the lane is in the diagram, you can select them and move them to the correct order. Note that drag and drop also works as well for Tool Palette objects. 30
To add a Start Event, select the button on the Tool Palette as shown. Once the Start Event button is selected, move the mouse over to the Sales Agent lane and click again to release the Start Event. After the Start Event is placed, click on it. You will see a menu of icons appear as shown. 31
Let s add a follow-on process step for the Sales Agent. Click the very top button to add a process step: You can now see a list of process steps to assign. Select the process step you created. Next for this simple exercise, let s assign Picking (optional) to the Warehouse Clerk. Select the Create Sales Order <YOURNAME> and select the top button of the menu to add a follow-on process step. Select the Picking (optional) step. After it appears in the Sales Agent lane, drag it to the Warehouse Clerk lane: 32
Next, let s add a Gateway. Select the Picking (optional) process step and select the Gateway icon in the menu:. You have now created a Gateway. Double-click the label Gateway, and enter the text Transfer Order? Press Enter to save. 33
Now, let s add a follow-on process step to the Gateway. Click the Transfer Order? Gateway icon and use the menu to create a follow-on process step Post Goods Issue. In the same way, add a follow-on process step Billing to Post Goods Issue, in the Accountant lane. 34
Let s add a process step for the transfer order. Select the Process Step button in the tool palette. Enter Transfer Order in the New field, and press the + button. Select OK to accept the new process step. Now you see the new process step Transfer Order in the list. 35
Click the Transfer Order name once, move the mouse to the Warehouse Clerk lane, and click again to release it as shown. You can reposition the other objects in the diagram to make room, and you can increase the width of the land by selecting it and dragging the sides. Select the gateway Transfer Order? and use the menu to create a line to the Transfer Order activity. 36
In the menu, select the Line button and hold it down while hovering over the Transfer Order process step. You will see connection points appear. Place the cursor over a connection point and release to create the line. In the same way, connect the Transfer Order step with Post Goods Issue step. Select the Transfer Order step, select the Line button, and while holding down the left mouse button, navigate to a connection point in the Post Goods Issue step and release. 37
To add an End Event, select the Billing process step and choose the End Event icon. Now you see that the End Event has been added. 38
Congratulations! You have now successfully created a diagram in the new SAP Solution Manager 7.2 graphical modeling environment. 2.1 MANAGING THE SOLUTION DOCUMENTATION LIFECYCLE Now that you have created some new objects in the solution documentation, let s release them to the Production branch. On the upper right, you see that you are in the Development branch of the documentation. Use the pull-down to navigate to the Production branch. Use the Favorite to navigate to BKZ Sales Order Processing with Collective Billing; Note that the step you created does not appear in the Production branch yet. From the lock icon, you can see that no changes are permitted directly in the Production branch. They must originate in a child branch and be released to Production. Next, navigate to the Maintenance branch of the solution documentation. 39
Use the Favorite for BKZ Sales Order Processing with Collective Billing if necessary. Note that your new process step is not present in the Maintenance branch either. Let s release our new process step from Development to Production, and the other branches at the same time. Return to the Development branch, and use the Favorite to navigate to BKZ Sales Order Processing with Collective Billing. This step should be highlighted in the column browser. Right-click to bring up the Context menu. Select Subtree Changes -> Release Changes. You should see a message that the changes were released. 40
Navigate to the Production and Maintenance branches to verify that the changes are now visible there. Any changes released to the Production Branch will also be released to the other branches of the solution documentation. End of Exercise 2 41
