1 How to: Import & Export Material-Parameters with Job Control X

2 General Suitable devices: Trotec Laser Software: Speedy 100, Speedy 300, Speedy 400, Speedy 500, SP1500 JobControl X (version: Expert) The Trotec Laser Software Job Control X is the operating and control tool of your Trotec laser device and manages the jobs generated by the printer driver. Bi-directional communication between the laser device and the software provides important status messages, allows reading the processing progress directly from the screen of your computer and enable to update material settings easily to your specific needs to achieve the best engraving and cutting results. JobControl X comes with a lot of pre-defined standard materials. In addition, new materials can be added, managed, imported and exported. To guarantee the best overview of the stored data base it is possible to structure into specific material groups and materials itself, such as rubber, wood, glass, laminates, etc. Image: material database JobControl X

3 Import of material parameters into JobControl X On you will find a variety of sample applications that can be downloaded as a CorelDRAW file for your own use. In order to support you in your realization, we also provide pre-defined settings for the laser materials and devices, used in our sample applications. Please note, these settings apply as a point of reference for the specified model and power. To achieve best possible engraving and cutting quality, it may be necessary to adjust the material parameters to your device and materials used individually. Download of pre-defined material settings from troteclaser.com visit Samples select one material and application of your choice click on the download button JobControl Parameters simply save your file (.xml-file) on your desktop

4 Import the downloaded.xml-file into JobControl X Material parameters can be saved in the material database of JobControl X as group or as individual material. In the following example we import material data for a stamp and save it as material Stamp in the group Rubber. open JobControl X on your computer and select Settings Material Template Setup Ctrl + M you have opened the material data base of JobControl X you can create a new material group for your imported files, eg. Import Trotec, by clicking the button Create new material group (alternative 1) or you can select one of the existing material groups and open a dialog window by clicking on the right mouse button (alternative 2)

5 you have to click on the arrow next to the icon Settings by using the left mouse button a new dialog window opens - select Import from file select your file from the desktop and click Open

6 a further window pops up which shows the name of the file you like to import now you can choose whether a) you import the desired file and create a copy on equal material names or b) you import your file and overwrite already existing material names tip: choose alternative a) not to lose existing settings, you can manage the JobControl X material database manually at any time the selected material settings will be imported and displayed in the material database of JobControl X to save you changes in the material database always click OK (tip: with multiple files we suggest to upload file by file into the desired material group and only click OK right after finalizing the upload process)

7 you can now delete the.xml.-file, parked on your desktop (data will be saved in JobControl X) Export of pre-defined material parameters from JobControl X Furthermore, you can export the entire material database, individual material groups or materials only in order to secure the items on an external travelling gear or to use them for another workplace. Export of the entire material database or individual material groups open JobControl X on your computer and select Settings Material Template Setup Ctrl + M

8 select a material group you want to export click with your left mouse button on the arrow next to the icon settings you have opened a new dialog window now choose if you want to a) export the entire material database Export All or b) export the selected material group only Export Selected Group after that, a new dialog box opens and you can save the exported material data as.xml-file on your desktop or in a desired directory click Save (tip: when exporting multiple files, we recommend to rename them accordingly in order to avoid confusion, eg. rubber_stamp_trotecmaerials_ _ xml)

9 Export of a single material open JobControl X on your computer and select Settings Material Template Setup Ctrl + M select one material of your choice click with your left mouse button on the arrow next to the icon settings you have opened a new dialog window now choose Export selected group

10 after that, a new dialog box opens and you can save the exported material data as.xml-file on your desktop or in a desired directory click Save (tip: when exporting multiple files, we recommend to rename them accordingly in order to avoid confusion, eg. rubber_stamp_trotecmaerials_ _ xml)

11 Tip: password setting in JobControl X material database Tip: Protect your personal parameter settings in the material database against loss or alteration by setting a password. click with your left mouse button on the arrow next to the icon settings you have now opend a new dialog box select Locking Set master password this function allows you to lock or unlock material groups or individual materials as administrator, locked data are marked with a lock-icon to save your changes always click OK
