SelenioFlex Live SelenioFlex Live Requirements and License System Configuration The system ships as a fully configured 1RU encoding system. Your system configuration will differ depending on which model you purchased. The system is configured using a web portal. To connect to the system use a computer that is on the same network as the encoding system. The network settings for a new, un-configured system are: IP address: Subnet mask: Gateway: You can modify these settings using a USB drive. Please see the Quick Start Guide or the User's Guide for complete details. Once you have a computer on the same network as the encoding system open a browser and enter the IP address of the encoder to connect. Note: Use a different network or subnet for each NIC (Management, Data 1, Data 2) you configure. Registration YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR PRODUCT TO OBTAIN A PERMANENT LICENSE. A new SelenioFlex Live system is delivered with a temporary license which will expire. In order to receive your permanent license you must register your system using the system's License ID. When you connect to a SelenioFlex Live system you will be able to see the License ID on the System > Model/License Info page. This ID is also displayed on a tag attached to the rear of the unit. To register go to Register your product using all 16 digits of the License ID (including the leading zeros). Your license will be ed to the address you specified when you created your customer login. The name of the permanent license file will use the License ID of your system. Once you have obtained the license file, copy it to the computer where you will launch the web user interface to connect to the encoder. Connect to the system by opening a browser and entering the IP address of the encoder, then go to the System > Upgrade page. Browse to the license file. Imagine Communications SelenioFlex Live 1.4 October 7, of 7
MAKE SURE THE LICENSE FILE MATCHES THE LICENSE ID OF THE SYSTEM. If you use a license file that does not match the license ID of the system your current license will be unloaded. The next time you connect to the system you will be able to go to the System > Upgrade page, so that you can upload and apply the correct license file, however the License ID will not be shown on the web interface. You can still refer to the tag on the back of the system for the License ID. Once you are sure that the license file matches the license ID of the system, click the Send button to upload it to the system. Once the upload completes click the Apply button to load the new license on to the system. The system will then reboot to apply the updated license. Upgrade Notes There are two types of upgrade files: License updates Firmware updates License updates are for a specific system, and must be used on the system with the matching license ID. That is, each system will have its own unique license update file. The same firmware update file can be used on any SelenioFlex Live system. If your upgrade includes new licensed features then you must apply both a firmware update and a license update in order to use the new features. In this situation the license update should be applied first. For firmware upgrades, the file transfer will take several seconds. After clicking on Apply, the encoder will then need approximately 5 minutes before it reboots on its own. Do not manually reboot or power cycle the encoder during any upgrade process. If no new message tells you to refresh the web browser after 5 minutes, then manually refresh it, then go to System > Model/License Info to verify the new firmware version. Before upgrading to version 1.4: If you previously joined a Domain As of version 1.4 a new file archiving implementation is being used, and it is no longer necessary to join a domain in order to access drives which are shared for that user on that domain. In future releases, the ability to join/unjoin a domain will no longer be available. Therefore, before upgrading to 1.4.0, unjoin any domain the encoder had joined in the past. When upgrading from version 1.0 or 1.1: After a system Upgrade the web portal may display an error: Failed to connect to server. If this occurs the browser cache will need to be cleared, and then the browser will need to be refreshed. (This error will not occur when upgrading from version to subsequent versions, only when upgrading from 1.0 or 1.1.) Imagine Communications SelenioFlex Live 1.4 October 7, of 7
SelenioFlex Live Change History Version to Output Destinations may now be a Live with Failover group. More than one backup destination may be defined, and each one will be tried in succession if the previous destination fails. Added a Selected Destinations Control option. Each destination now has an option to be marked as a selected destination. These marked destinations can then be controlled as a group, independent of the global channel controls. Added DRM support for HLS Outputs (AES encryption). File Archiving to a remote UNC path location is now supported by allowing the user to provide Network Share paths, user name and password. (Using storage that is part of the same Domain is also still supported.) Added colors to Apply/Start/Stop channel buttons to help with visibility. Saved projects now use a.sfx file extension. The previous file extension (.szl) is also still supported. When using HLS with protocol 04 non-integer numbers can now be used for the key frame interval (in addition to integer value support). Flash live outputs now have an option to Unpublish On Connect. Recent Akamai changes require this to be disabled. When publishing to a local AMS this option can also be left disabled. Only enable this option if your CDN requires this setting. Added a new System > Preferences option: Channel/Group Stop Timeout value (in seconds). This can be used to set the time the encoder will wait after the encode has finished while it is completing post encoding processes. This value should be increased specifically when the encode will output large Flash VOD files which use the progressive download option. The timeout needs to be long enough to allow the file to be rewritten with the index at the beginning of the file (a requirement for progressive download files). Fixed a Slate insertion issue that caused intermittent stopping issues. Fixed certain problematic combinations of input cropping and aspect ratio values. Added a new Preference option to Disable confirmation dialogs for actions. Note that only notifications are suppressed, validation dialogs will not be suppressed. (The Preferences settings are found in the System settings.) Added new Preference options to allow users to change the text shown on each channel tab, and to add text to the top middle of the web portal page (Encoder Name). The Output channel indicators (Total Outputs, Running Outputs, Failed Outputs) have been moved from the Preview display to the Output section. They will now be visible whether or not the channel is running. The Channel Settings window has been reorganized to a dialog with separate tabs for different types of settings. Slate Insertion is now available on the Channel Settings dialog. Audio levels are now available on the Channel Settings dialog and can be adjusted manually. Audio Mute and Input Preview settings have been moved to the Channel Settings dialog. The Channel Control (Management Access) setting has been moved to the Channel Settings dialog. When using the USB Drive method to read or write the network settings on the encoder using SFXReadIp.txt or LicenseID_SFXWriteIp.txt (where the LicenseID is the 16-digit hex number used for the Imagine Communications SelenioFlex Live 1.4 October 7, of 7
license ID, e.g., ab19865_SFXWriteIp.txt) note the file name now uses SFX, but the previous names (using SZL instead of SFX) is still supported. When encoding an MPEG TS Output to TS File with the Segmented Output option, when the Segmenting Criteria is by Duration the segments will now have the exact same frame count. Known Limitations HLS Outputs which use AES encryption: - Separate secure media URL s are required for HLS Live and HLS VOD. Therefore the HLS Live & VOD destination option should not be used when AES encryption is also used, use a separate HLS Live destination and a HLS VOD destination. - When license server generated mode is used and when using a UNC path to define the license server file location, if the license server is not available when the channel starts running: (a) the encoder will not fail (even though it should) and (b) if the license server becomes available shortly after the encode has started up the output crashes instead of starting the encryption process. Version to The product has been renamed SelenioFlex Live. A new Slate option is available. A slate can be used automatically if signal loss is detected and/or it can be triggered manually. Output warnings are now displayed on the web portal. For AAC encoding Dolby Metadata settings have been removed (and Dolby metadata is no longer added to the bitstream). Version to Smooth Streaming Live and VOD outputs can now include Timed Text tracks which acquire the data from the 608/708 closed caption data from the input's SDI ancillary data. Flash VOD outputs can now include Timed Text tracks which acquire the data from the 608/708 closed caption data from the input's SDI ancillary data. Flash RTMP Live outputs can now include captioning as oncaptioninfo which acquires the data from the 608/708 closed caption data from the input's SDI ancillary data. HLS Live and VOD outputs now have captions enabled using the Streaming Group configuration (previously it was enabled in each video layer). MPEG Transport Stream Live and VOD outputs now have captions enabled using the Streaming Group configuration (previously it was enabled in the video elementary stream). Flash RTMP Live outputs now support NIC binding. Fixed the following issue: After a reboot (e.g., following an Upgrade) occasionally you were unable to connect to the system using the web portal, and the following error was shown: Could not load page. When using the USB Drive method to read or write the network settings on the encoder, the file names used are no longer case sensitive (e.g., SZLReadIp.txt and LicenseID_SZLWriteIp.txt will now work). Imagine Communications SelenioFlex Live 1.4 October 7, of 7
Version to VOD/Archive file support was added (as an Output Destination) for Flash, HLS and Smooth Streaming. Transport Stream output was added. It can be used for VOD/Archive file output or for live UDP or RTP/RTSP streaming. Additional audio encoding support for Transport Stream output only: Dolby Digital (AC-3) audio encoding and MPEG-1 Layer II audio encoding PlayReady DRM support was added for Live Smooth Streaming outputs. Support was added for Irdeto PlayReady, a generic Web Service method for contacting a PlayReady server and a "manual" PlayReady configuration (used primarily for testing). The audio can now include a Language code. This can be used by the Smooth Streaming outputs so that the user can use the language to select the audio during playback. An input preview has been added to the web console for each channel. Note that switching to a tab with the input preview enabled will cause the interface to stop responding for several seconds. To prevent this delay, and to prevent other browser instabilities caused by the plugin used to playback the video, the input preview should be toggled off when it is not currently being used to verify the input. The audio may be muted on a channel-by-channel basis. This feature must first be enabled using the System > Input Audio Mute option. Once it is enabled a "Mute Audio Input" button will be visible for each channel. Added support for setting an HTTP Proxy. To use a proxy configuration all channels need to have their settings re-applied after the proxy settings have been saved. The Graphic Overlay settings now include an Anchor Point setting, to make it easier to position the graphic. A "maintain aspect ratio" option has been added. The Graphic Overlay performance has been optimized. A full sized 1920x1080 graphic can now be used on all 4 channels with approximately a 2% increase in system load. The Management port (INT_MGMT) on the encoder should not use DHCP, it should use a static address. If it has been set to DHCP then the web interface will now let you switch to "Manual" so that a static address can be set. It will no longer allow you to select DHCP. Version to Cropping: Pre-processing capability for streaming groups Graphic Overlay: Pre-processing capability for streaming groups Network settings can be automatically read from the encoding system and written to a file on an attached USB key. This allows the IP address to be obtained without using a browser to connect to the system. Network settings can be changed on the encoding system by attaching a USB key with the new settings in a file on the root of the USB. The License ID is now displayed on the System > Model/License Info page. The Input Signal Aspect Ratio can now be specified in the Group Pre-processing for streaming groups. This allows the output video aspect ratio to be different from the input video, such as with anamorphic NTSC/PAL (4:3) input and 16:9 output. Imagine Communications SelenioFlex Live 1.4 October 7, of 7
Flash/RTMP: Improved the handling of timeouts for outputs that are streaming to Akamai. Fixed: Issue which caused the encoder to stop when the SDI input had an invalid ancillary data checksum. Fixed the AAC encode settings default values for 5.1 surround. Fixed the AVC encoder's "Aspect Ratio Converter". Previously if the Aspect Ratio Converter setting did not match the input video's setting an error would be generated ("Input pixel aspect ratio not detected"). Known Limitations When setting the Graphic Overlay, the green "preview" area will show the graphic image area, not the actual graphic image size within that area (taking into account the aspect ratio of the actual image file), but it will be rendered correctly when it is encoded. Graphic overlay: The following 32-bit file formats are supported with restrictions: When using Photoshop to save 32-bit PNG files, use "Save for Web & Devices", choose PNG-24, and enable "Transparency". 32-bit TIFF files may be used. In Photoshop if the image has transparency then the default "save as" values in Photoshop produces a TIFF file that can be used as a graphic overlay. 32-bit TGA files must use an alpha channel, they will not work if they are simply saved with transparency. In Photoshop, this will mean converting the transparency to an alpha channel before the file is saved as a TGA file. (Tip: TGA files can only use RGB color mode.) For PNG graphics, only images with an even number of pixels in width are currently supported. When creating a Smooth Streaming output which uses PlayReady encryption, the *first* time an encode is run on the system which includes PlayReady, the encoder must have access to the internet, in order to "individualize" the encoder for use with PlayReady. After that step has occurred subsequent encodes can take place even if the encoder is not connected to the internet. Smooth Streaming limitation: Currently a Smooth Streaming output will stop if the data cannot be sent to the media server. That is, the "On Error" selection is not being used. After an encoding group has started streaming, only outputs of the same output type (Flash, HLS or Smooth Streaming) may be added on-the-fly, while the group continues streaming. If you will require additional output types, then add those Outputs and the Configuration/Layers that you will use before you start streaming. (These additional "place holder" outputs do not need to include a Destination before you start streaming. You can add a Destination after the group has started streaming). When using the USB Drive method to write the network settings on the encoder using LicenseID_SFXWriteIp.txt (where the LicenseID is the 16-digit hex number used for the license ID, e.g., ab19865_SFXWriteIp.txt), if the SFXReadIp.txt file is present delete it from the root of the drive, as a read takes precedence over a write, and the write will be ignored. For a Transport Stream live output, for the Destination IP, you can only use an IPv4 IP address (4 octets, no number greater than 255). You cannot use a host name or an IPv6 IP address. When closed captioning is enabled for the Streaming Group, captions are not embedded in the AVC user data for frame rates lower than fps. (This affects closed captioning for HLS and MPEG Transport Stream.) When upgrading from version 1.0 or 1.1, after a system Upgrade the web portal may display an error: Failed to connect to server.
