4 1 Introduction 1 Introduction Siemens Industry Online Support s HMI Toolbox offers a variety of useful tools which may significantly simplify everyday work. A global library provides different tools which are very easy to integrate into your visualisation. Thus you save precious time you would otherwise spend on developing your own tools. The tool included in HMI Toolbox cover six different topics: Time functions Transfer data Mathematical functions Simplified operation Increase clarity Simplified engineering Any of these topics has its own documentation and global library. Furthermore, two project examples are made available to the user to show him how to use the tools. The Application Example Example Project for SIMATIC Panels / WinCC Runtime Advanced V14 was created with STEP 7 Professional / WinCC Advanced V14. A SIMATIC PC station with RT Advanced has been used as the HMI operator panel and an S PN/DP as the control system. The Application Example Example Project for WinCC Runtime Professional V14 was created with STEP 7 Professional / WinCC Professional V14. A PC station with WinCC RT Professional has been used as the HMI operator panel and an S7-1516F-3 PN/DP as the control system. The present document describes the operation mode and implementation of the tools for the topic Simplified engineering. The topic Simplified engineering covers two tools: Rotation Tool Siemens icon font The HMI Toolbox is available for different HMI Control Panels. Basic HMI (Key Panels, Basic Panels) Advanced HMI Panel-based (Comfort Panels, Mobile Panels) Advanced HMI PC-based (SIMATIC Panel PCs and Embedded Bundles with WinCC RT Advanced / Professional) Given the diversity of hard- and software requirements, all the tools are not available on all of the HMI Control Panels or can only be used on the HMI Control Panel, respectively. Some of the cases require a combined arrangement with a control system. For this reason, always pay attention to the hard- and software requirements on the beginning of every chapter. 5 2 Rotation Tool 2 Rotation Tool 2.1 Solution Description In addition to color, motion is a good medium to simply and clearly illustrate the status, e.g. of a machine. It can, for example, be used to illustrate pumps, fans, motors, mixers, or gears. The Rotation Tool is a Microsoft PowerPoint Add-In that you can use to automatically rotate and save screens in different status conditions as a png file. Optionally, you can directly create an xml file which you can import as a graphics list directly into the HMI project using TIA Portal Openness. Figure 2-1 The pointer-type instruments for Basic Panels which are also downloadable from the download page of this entry were also created using the Rotation Tool. Entry ID: , V1.3, 09/2017 5

10 2 Rotation Tool 2.4 Tips and Tricks Determining the start position The Rotation Tool changes the rotation property of a screen object. Prior to create the first screen, the rotation value of any rotating elements is set to 0. Should a rotating element start at an angle other than 0, right-click the related element in the desired start position and then click Save as graphic.... Save the element in the PNG format. Finally, insert the element as a graphic into the PowerPoint screen Setting the rotation axis The elements selected in the tool rotate through their centre point. To choose another rotation axis, it is useful to group the desired element with a hidden element and then select the whole group for rotation. Figure Continuous rotation The tool creates in a first step a screen at a 0 rotation (initial state). A rotation through 360 corresponds to 0. For a graphic intended to continuously rotate through its own axis you should consider that the last intermediate step is to be dropped, to avoid that two identical screens follow one another. Skipping the graphics list element 0 or 100 when triggering via the control tag (e.g. "startvalue" =1) is one possibility to achieve this. Alternatively, subtract the angle size of an intermediate step from the overall rotation angle in order to be able to select a step number reduced by 1 in the Rotation Tool. Entry ID: , V1.3, 09/

11 2 Rotation Tool Figure Creating the control tag If you intend not to display a real rotation of one of the objects contained in your process with the rotating object but simulate the rotation, you must create the control tag manually. To do so you can use, for example, the SimulateTag system function at the Loaded event of the screen. In this case the object will always rotate when the screen is displayed. For more information, please refer to \5\. If you want, in addition, start and stop the rotation, you may use the STEP7 function "LGF_SawTooth which is available from the Application Example \6\. 12 3.1 Solution Description Siemens provides you with a font containing a huge choice of icons that you can use as text, for example, for buttons. Besides the icons the font also contains a normal character set. This one corresponds to the character set of the Siemens Sans font. The documentation gives you a clear overview about available icons and shows you how to integrate such icons into your own project. The download file " _SiemensIconFont.zip joint to this documentation includes the "SiemensTIAPortalIcons.ttf font. In the example project " _ExampleProject_Panels_Advanced, the icons are used as text on the buttons, and a color switching is used as example to show you how you can make use of the diverse dynamic sampling options. Figure Advantages through the use of icons Easy multilingual engineering You can use the icons in any language as they are understood without translation. For other languages, just copy the text list of the language you have already parametrised. Free scaling Characters are freely scalable. In contrast to the graphics, you must not pay attention to the size or the resolution of the source material. Free scaling avoids possible built-up of artefacts / blurring effects when zooming-in / zooming-out the screens. Automatic transparency Icon characters of the font have a transparent background. You must not pay attention to set the background transparent or color it according to the project color. Entry ID: , V1.3, 09/
