Information about the Software, Product or System: This is a cumulative firmware release, and as such, contains all functionality from Release 3.4. This incremental release build specifically address issues listed in the List of Issues Resolved section of this document. The following instructions should be reviewed before installing, using or upgrading NetAXS. Technical Assistance Contact Information: For more information or technical assistance contact your dealer or Technical Support at II. OVERVIEW OF RELEASE New Features: N/A Retired Features: N/A Compatibility: N/A Documentation Updates: N/A List of Issues Resolved: # Summary 1 Australia Daylight Savings (DST) is not Adjusting and Rolling ahead or back 2 Time zone controlled Input or Output do not consider the link time zones associated with the main time zone. Only main time zone slot is considered. Access Level and Reader time zones consider all link time zones. 3 In PIN reader mode, an invalid card read reports a Card Expired event instead of a Card Not Found event after a card expires at that PIN reader. 4 Interlocks: A circular interlock can be added. 5 A valid card read would energize a relay if the relay was manually de-energized when operating in its time zone. 6 Global Anti-passback did not work with Trace Card in WIN-PAK. 7 Alarm and Events Report would not display the Card Holder Name or Card Number for Trace transactions. 8 Holidays only applied to the year the holidays were downloaded to the panel in Legacy Mode (N-1000 ASCII) 9 Panel initialized with ASCII commands, the relays will not trip in their time zone if the time zone is linked to another time zone and the initialization occurs during the linked time zone. For example: TZ-2 is 7am to 8am M-F. TZ-55 is 12pm to 8pm M-F. TZ-55 is linked to TZ-2. The ASCII command to assign TZ-2 to the Page 4 of 13

relay is sent at 5pm. The relay should trip into the time zone but did not. 10 Global Anti-Passback did not work when Duress was enabled. 11 IE9 Compatibility with NetAXS-4 12 Was not able to Access Panel 31 in the Select Panel Grid if Using Firefox 13 Invalid site code displayed for VIP card 14 Start-up tilde menu did not work in NetAXS-4 R release List of Known Issues and Workarounds: # Summary 1 In the event a downstream panel is missing some card records or there are duplicated card records Workaround: Take backup from gateway to restore on downstream If a card search reports card as not found, add the card back in, and the report now shows duplicate cards 2 Workaround: Export card database, remove duplicate card then import it back 3 NetAXS-4 panels in a loop where a PCI-3 is the gateway will occasionally go offline/online in WIN-PAK Workaround: Use NetAXS-4 or NetAXS-123 panel as the gateway 4 Select Panel IDs disappear from the panel grid when time is changed & error may be generated Workaround: Wait a few seconds for it to refresh 5 Not compatible with Firefox 25.0/ Workaround: Use Internet Explorer Not compatible with Internet Explorer 11 Workaround: Use Internet Explorer 10 Not able to connect using NetAXS Upgrade Utility via Serial Port Workaround: Connect using Ethernet instead NOTE: Application code and earlier are not compatible with kernel version 375. Application code and later are compatible with all kernel versions. Application and earlier Application Kernel 373 and earlier Compatible Compatible Kernel 375 NOT COMPATIBLE Compatible When upgrading a NetAXS-4 panel s firmware, the application file, 1-NetAXSimage bin must be loaded into the panel before loading the OS file, 2-NetAXSOSimage375.bin. Page 5 of 13

Once a NetAXS-4 panel is at kernel OS the panel cannot be downgrade to an earlier application file. To do this, the panel s OS will have to be downgrade first to OS 368. Once this is done, then downgrade the panel s application file. The firmware will prevent the user from loading or toggling to the incompatible version/firmware combination. Downloading the R firmware package takes longer than earlier firmware packages due to increased file sizes. During high volumes of activity (prevalently caused by motion detectors) a panel may appear as if it is offline when it is actually is on-line. This occurs until traffic on the 485 bus is reduced. Silencing the Egress input may help. At times after an upgrade the panel does not automatically reboot and the RUN LED is on solid. The panel may need to be manually rebooted (cycle power) if the panel does not come back online for the normal time frame. If the RUN LED has been on solid for more than 12 minutes you may need to cycle power. After the panel does come back online and the RUN LED is flashing normal verify the upgrade was successful. If using NetAXS Upgrade Utility click on the Get Panel Info button to check the version information. If using NetAXS Web Server; log in and navigate to Configuration > System > File Management tab to check the version information. III. CHANGE HISTORY Application (Firmware) This is a Q3 maintenance build that fixed the issues noted in the List of Issues Resolved section This build addresses an issue that could cause a downstream panel to go off-line. Additionally, this build addresses the Buffer/Unbuffer via WIN-PAK Missing Transactions issue Addresses NX4IN and NX4OUT off-line issue Addresses Silence egress issue; the NetAXS panel was not recognizing the tz slot for the silence command Addresses Anti-passback communications issues using WIN-PAK Added elevator features Release WIN-PAK communication fixes Release 3 Page 6 of 13

Release Initial release 1 Operating System (Kernel) #375 The generic/standard Linux TTY and serial driver could randomly stop working for downstream panels. Therefore, the Linux TTY driver was replaced with a serial driver that specializes in supporting RS485 communications. #373 The 4 UART interrupt vectors (priority and levels) were modified to be unique at level 5 because the Linux OS used by NetAXS-4 automatically sets these values that could result in duplicates to the FPGA interrupt vectors. #368 Multiple memory chip support for Numonix and Spansion brands was added. This version additionally blocks downgrades to earlier OS that do not support both memory chips. #363 Support of flash data compression #354 Release 2 OS #344 Initial OS release IV. UPGRADE PROCEDURES: If you have a beta panel and need to upgrade to the final release, please follow these instructions. NOTE: NETAXS-4 FIRMWARE MUST BE AT R3.4.3 OR HIGHER BEFORE UPGRADING TO THIS PACKAGE. WARNING: THE APPLICATION FILE MUST BE LOADED INTO THE PANEL BEFORE THE OS FILE. Upgrade Planning You should plan for approximately 10 minutes to upgrade 1 panel (switched to gateway mode). Depending upon your configuration, to save time, you may be able to start multiple panel upgrades on your loop at the same time. Given the time needed to upgrade your loop, please plan the upgrade so it has the least impact on the access control of the building. Page 7 of 13

Mixed firmware revision NetAXS-4 loops Upgrade your loop by starting with the gateway panel 1 st. It is expected that you are running the current firmware Release (3.4.3 or higher), before you upgrade to this release. It is not recommended that you have earlier builds on your panels before applying the new OS, since there were access level changes in the database coming from R2 to R3. Please ensure that all NetAXS-4 panels on the loop are running the latest release (3.4.3). Recommended Preliminary Step for Web-Based Panels: Backup your Databases NOTE: The upgrade scripts bring all your panel data forward into the new version without the need for user intervention. That said, it is always recommended to have backup copies of your panel s databases, and upgrade time provides an opportunity to keep your backups current. The procedure below can be used to backup each of your panel s databases. The backup features are per panel, so the user will have to first select the desired panel to backup. Uploading data from the panel 1. Select the panel to backup from the Select Panel section in the Web Server. 2. Navigate to Configuration > System > File Management tab. 3. Under upload, select each one of the following upload options from the drop-down menu: Card Report (Long), Cards and Common Configuration; Panel Configuration; Card, Common, and Panel Configuration. 4. Click Upload to upload the data to the host PC or laptop. 5. Follow the instructions to save a back up file on your PC. Give the backup file a useful name for easy restoring. NOTE: You should repeat the process to get a copy of each of the menu options listed in step 3. The user should start with the Card, Common, and Panel Configuration, and Card Report (Long) at a minimum for a backup of the entire database and cards. Upgrades to Gateway vs. multi-drop (downstream) panels Multi-drop panels can be upgraded just like the gateway panels via the web screen. Multi-drop panel downloads (via 485) at present are very slow, taking an average of about 2 hours to complete. The total time to upgrade an entire loop of multi-drop panels is dependent upon how many panels are on the loop and how much communication traffic it contains. Given this, the preferred method of upgrading your downstream 485 panels is to connect to the panel directly via Ethernet and use the NetAXS Upgrade Utility, per the instructions below. Preferred Method: Upgrading Downstream Panels Using the NetAXS Upgrade Utility via IP Steps to Install the NetAXS Upgrade Utility (current version is ): 1. Locate the NetAXS Upgrade Utility Setup.exe file 2. Double-click on the file to get the NetAXS Upgrade Setup window. 3. Click on the Install button. 4. Will get a screen with a progress bar then the NetAXS Upgrade Setup Wizard will launch. 5. Click on the Next button then follow the prompts. 6. The last screen will display Installation Complete. Click on the Close button. 7. You should now have the NetAXS Upgrade icon on your desktop. Page 8 of 13

Steps to run the NetAXS Upgrade Utility: NOTE: NetAXS upgrade over Ethernet requires the panel to be at firmware version 3.4.x or later. 1. Launch the NetAXS Upgrade Utility. 2. On the menu bar go to Tool > IP Configuration. 3. Enter in the panel s IP address and click on the Confirm button. The default Ethernet IP address is Go to Connection Type on the menu bar and select Ethernet. 5. In the utility click on the Get Panel Info button to ensure it is the correct panel. 6. Click on the Browse for Upgrade Files button and locate the 1-NetAXS-4_Upgrade_apps bin file. 7. Click on the Start Upgrade button. The process takes up to 13 minutes for each file. 8. The new version information will display in the top section of the utility when done. 9. If the new version does not display reboot the panel and recheck when back online 10. Once the panel is back online and at the correct version repeat steps above of the OS. At step #6 select the file 2-NetAXS-4_Upgrade_OS375.bin instead. NOTE: To upgrade using the NetAXS Upgrade Utility via serial port connection is currently not supported. NOTE: If the firmware or the OS versions are already the latest, you may select only the file necessary if there are multiple files. Upgrading Panels Using the Web Server In order to reduce the time required to install this version on your downstream panel, each panel can be removed from the loop and configured as a Gateway panel (see note below) by setting DIP switch 6 ON, and connecting directly to each panel via a Local Area Network or direct-connect Ethernet connection, returning their configuration back to a downstream panel once the upgrade has been successfully completed. Refer to NetAXS: Access Control Unit User s Guide, section 1-2 Connecting to the NetAXS Web Server for each of the downstream panels on a loop. NOTE: YOU CANNOT HAVE MORE THAN ONE GATEWAY ON A LOOP, SO IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU DISCONNECT THE 485 CABLES ON THE PANEL THAT YOU ARE UPGRADING. ONLY AFTER THE PANEL HAS BEEN RETURNED TO DOWNSTREAM STATE WITH DIP SWITCH 6 OFF AND HAVING BEEN POWER CYCLED SHOULD THE 485 CABLES RE-CONNECTED. HAVING MORE THAN ONE GATEWAY ONLINE IN A LOOP, EVEN IF ONLY CONNECTED FOR A SHORT TIME THEN REMOVED, HAS SHOWN IN TESTING TO POTENTIALLY CAUSE LOOP COMMUNICATION ISSUES. IF THIS MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED AND TO REMOVE IT AS A POTENTIAL PROBLEM; REMOVE ALL PANELS FROM THE LOOP (SO THEY ARE UNABLE TO AFFECT EACH OTHER S 485 COMMUNICATION), REBOOT EACH PANEL, AND THEN ADD THEM BACK TO THE LOOP. Step 1: Before starting, if the loop is connected to WIN-PAK make sure the panels are in an un-buffered state. The un-buffered state means the panel or loop is online and reporting all events immediately, in real time, and not storing them for later. If WIN-PAK has not been connected recently, you should login and make sure all panels are un-buffered, thereby allowing them to report all events that may have occurred but have not been reported. In the Page 9 of 13

end it leaves you in a state where current events are coming in. A sign that the panels have not been unbuffered would be if you try to login to the Web Server and get excessive time-outs ; in this case your panels are likely busy trying to un-buffer buffered events and you should wait for them to complete their un-buffering before starting the upgrade. NOTE: For WIN-PAK systems, it is recommended that you stop the communications server service while upgrading and restart it once your panels are upgraded. Step 2: Set the panel to Web mode (if it is not already set) NOTE: WIN-PAK XE / SE / PE 3.0 and higher and WIN-PAK CS 4.2 and higher where the NetAXS panel is programmed as a NetAXS, you will need to first Enable NetAXS Web Mode from the WIN-PAK Control Map. Administrator level is required to make this change. NOTE: You cannot have more than one gateway on a loop, so it is critical that you disconnect the 485 cables on the panel you are upgrading. A. Connect to your Gateway panel using the instructions from: NetAXS: Access Control Unit User s Guide, section 1-2 Connecting to the NetAXS Web Server. B. Once logged into your Gateway panel, then go to the System Host/Loop Communications tab, and select None next to Web Mode. Click Submit Changes and wait 1 to 1.5 minutes. You can click refresh on your browser after 1 minute and navigate to the General tab to see if the buttons are present. WARNING: THE APPLICATION FILE MUST BE DOWNLOADED BEFORE THE OS FILE. Step 3: Install the App file: 1-NetAXS-4_Upgrade_apps bin NOTE: may not be needed, panels may already be at the latest firmware. A. Navigate to the web server screen, Configuration > System > File Management tab. B. Under Download click on the Browse button to locate the file, 1-NetAXS- 4_Upgrade_apps bin C. Select the file and click on the Download button. Click OK to Continue. Once the download complete message pops up, click OK again. D. You will see the download image message indicating to wait 4 minutes for a reboot. This time a reboot will be triggered. Step 4: Install the OS file: 2-NetAXS-4_Upgrade_OS375.bin NOTE: may not be needed, panels may already be at the latest OS. A. Navigate to the web server screen, Configuration > System > File Management tab. B. Under Download click on the Browse button to locate the file, 2-NetAXS-4_Upgrade_OS375.bin C. Select the file and click on the Download button. Click OK to Continue. Once the download complete message pops up, click OK again. D. You will see the download image message indicating to wait 4 minutes for a reboot. This time a reboot will be triggered. E. Clear Cache: This time, before logging back in, use the browser dependent steps below to clear your browser cache. You can navigate away from the current web screen, clear the files, and then navigate back. F. Once the temp files are cleared, and you have waited 4-5 minutes, or have heard the relays, click refresh and log back in. Page 10 of 13

Step 5: Check that the installed versions are correct A. Navigate back to the web server screen, Configuration > System > File Management tab. B. In the Version Information section, you should see the new application versions listed. The Access Control App for your selected set should show version The OS should show the version #375. C. For WIN-PAK based loops, it is recommended that you run a full download to all the panels once the new version is installed. D. If you notice any communication issues, and the upgrades are complete, you likely had more than one panel set up as a gateway, and you should reset all the panels in the loop to clear the issue. If you receive a Certificate Error When Using IE8 on Windows XP, follow these steps to add the certificate: 1. Enter the IP Address of the panel into the URL box. 2. Click on the Continue to the website (not recommended) to get the login screen. 3. Click on the Certificate Error button at the top, right of the IP Address. 4.
