Chapter 3 System Setting Introduction The scanner can be configured by scanning programming barcodes. Manual introduction Manual scanning mode, please follow the scanning steps: 1. Press and hold the trigger button, then the light is activated, and appear the red aiming light and the white led light. 2. Aim the center of the codes by red aiming light, to move the scanner between the codes to find the best scanning distance. 3. Decode successfully when you hear the buzzer sound and the red light will be off,the codes will be transmitted to the host. 16 / 66
Note:During scanning the same series codes, you will find there will be a highly success rate between the scanner and the codes in some distance, this refers to the best reading distance. Factory Defaults Scanning the following barcode can restore the scanner to the factory defaults. You may need to reset your scanner when: 1. Scanner is not properly configured so that it fails to decode barcodes; 2. You forget previous configuration and want to avoid its impact; 3. Functions that are rarely used have been enabled for the time being. Restore Factory Defaults Check the version Scanning the code to check the scanner version. 17 / 66

To Enable or Disable Programming Code Enable Programming Code* Disable Programming Code Transmit Programming Barcode Data Programming barcode data can be transmitted to the Host. Scan the appropriate barcode below to enable or disable the transmission of programming barcode data (i.e. the characters under programming barcode) to the Host. Restarting the engine will automatically disable the transmission of programming barcode data to the Host. Transmit Programming Barcode Data Don t Transmit Programming Barcode Data * 19 / 66
Scanning Mode Setting Manual Mode If the Manual Mode is enabled, you could activate the scanner by providing an external hardware trigger. When in manual mode, the scanner scans until a barcode is read, or until the hardware trigger is released. Manual Mode* Stand By Mode When you enable Stand By mode, the scanner will enter Stand By mode automatically when the scanner stops scanning for 30 seconds, you can scan the programming code below to set. Enable Stand By* Disable Stand By Note: The default time for the scanner is 30 seconds, you can press the trigger to awake scanner, and the scanner will be back to work. 20 / 66
Auto-scanning Mode If the Auto-scanning Mode is enabled, the engine activates a decode session every time it detects a change in ambient illumination. The decode session continues until the barcode is decoded or the decode session timeout expires. Driving the TRIG pin on the host interface connector low can also activate a decode session. The decode session continues until the active trigger signal is no longer present or the barcode is decoded or the decode session timeout expires. The trigger signal needs to be negated before the engine is able to monitor ambient illumination again. Auto-scanning Mode Decode Session Timeout This parameter sets the maximum time decode session continues during a scan attempt. If the timeout expires or the barcode is decoded, the engine goes back to monitoring ambient illumination. It is programmable in 0.1ms increments from 0.1s to 25.5s. When it is set to 0, the timeout is infinite. The default setting is 5s. 1000ms 3000ms 21 / 66
*5000ms Infinite Timeout between Decodes (Same Barcode) Timeout between Decodes (Same Barcode) can avoid undesired rereading of same barcode in a given period of time. The following parameter sets the timeout between decodes for same barcode. It is programmable in 0.1s increments from 0s to 25.5s. The default setting is 1.0s. Disable Timeout between Decodes 500ms *1000ms 1500ms 2000ms 22 / 66
Sensitivity Sensitivity specifies the degree of acuteness of the engine s response to changes in ambient illumination. The higher the sensitivity, the lower requirement in illumination change to trigger the engine. You can select an appropriate degree of sensitivity that fits the ambient environment. 23 / 66
Medium Sensitivity* Low Sensitivity High Sensitivity Enhanced Sensitivity 24 / 66
Continuous Mode This mode enables the engine to scan/capture, decode and transmit over and over again. When the engine is operating in Continuous Mode, barcode reading can be suspended/resumed through control over the trigger signal. When barcode reading is in progress, negating the trigger signal after having maintained it for 30ms or longer will suspend barcode reading; when barcode reading is suspended, performing the same control over the trigger signal will resume barcode reading. Continuous Mode Decode Session Timeout This parameter sets the maximum time decode session continues during a scan attempt. If the timeout expires or the barcode is decoded, the engine goes back to monitoring ambient illumination. It is programmable in 0.1ms increments from 0.1s to 25.5s. When it is set to 0, the timeout is infinite. The default setting is 5s. 1000ms 3000ms 25 / 66
*5000ms Infinite 26 / 66
Timeout between Decodes (Same Barcode) Timeout between Decodes (Same Barcode) can avoid undesired rereading of same barcode in a given period of time. The following parameter sets the timeout between decodes for same barcode. It is programmable in 0.1s increments from 0s to 25.5s. The default setting is 1.0s. 0ms 500ms *1000ms 1500ms 2000ms Enable/Disable Timeout between Decodes (Same Barcode) 27 / 66
Enable Timeout between Decodes Disable Timeout between Decodes* Timeout between Decodes (Same Barcode) To scan the programming code below to set timeout between decodes. Infinite 500ms 1000ms 3000ms 5000ms 28 / 66
Beep Setting On and off There will be a prompting sound after scanning successfully, and the buzzer can be turned off for user requirements. On* Off Scan the programming code below to set the time of beep. The default time is 60ms. 30ms 60ms* 90ms 120ms 29 / 66
Illumination A couple of illumination options are provided to improve the lighting conditions during every image capture: Normal: Illumination LEDs are turned on during image capture. Normal* Always ON: Illumination LEDs keep ON after the engine is powered on. Always On OFF: Illumination LEDs are OFF all the time. OFF 30 / 66
Aiming When scanning/capturing image, the engine projects an aiming pattern which allows positioning the target barcode within its field of view and thus makes decoding easier. Normal: The engine projects an aiming pattern only during barcode scanning/capture. Normal* Always ON: Aiming pattern is constantly ON after the engine is powered on. Always On OFF: Aiming pattern is OFF all the time. OFF 31 / 66
Chapter 4 Communication Setting Introduction The scanner provides a USB interface, USB-COM interface to communicate with the host device. The host device can receive scanned data and send commands to control the scanner or to access/alter the configuration information of the scanner via the USB interface. USB-KBW Mode To connect the scanner with the host by USB interface, you can scan USB HID-KBW programming code to set scanner to USB output mode, and you don t need to install any drivers, just plug and play. USB-KBW* 32 / 66
USB Country Keyboard Types Keyboard layouts vary from country to country. The default setting is U.S. keyboard. U.S.* Chech France Germany Hungary Italy Japan Spain 33 / 66
USB COM Port Emulation This feature allows the host to receive data in the way as a serial port does. However, you need to set communication parameters on the scanner to match the Host requirements. A driver is required for this feature. USB-COM RS232 serial communication interface Serial communication interface is usually used to connect the scanner to a host device (like PC, POS). When the scanner is connected to a host device through its RS-232 interface, you need to set communication parameters to match the host device. TTL/RS232 Please modify the parameter below when the parameter is different from Host device. Parameter RS232 Type Default Standard TTL/RS232 Baud Rate / 66
Parity Type None Data Bits 8 Stop Bits 1 Baud Rate Baud rate is the number of bits of data transmitted per second. Set the scanner s baud rate to match the host requirements. All supported baud rate are listed below * / 66

Introduction Chapter 5 Data Edition After a successful barcode read, a string containing numbers, letters or symbols will be returned. In real applications, barcode data may be found insufficient for your needs. You may wish to include additional information such as barcode type, data acquisition time or delimiter in data being scanned.adding extra information to printed barcodes does not seem like a sensible solution since that will increase the barcode size and make them inflexible. Instead, we come up with the idea of appending prefix and suffix to the data without making any change to barcodes. We will show you how to conduct the configuration in the following sections. Note: Customized data: <Prefix><Data><Suffix><Terminating Character> 37 / 66
Code ID Users usually need to know barcode type in the process of scanning, you can use Code ID prefix to recognize the barcode type. Please read Appendix A for the reference of the Code ID corresponding barcode type. Transmit Code ID Don t transmit Code ID* Factory Default Code ID 38 / 66
Custom Prefix Users can custom the prefix of the output code for your requirements. For example, when you add prefix AB to barcode 123, the host will receive AB123. Note: Prefix and suffix can add 15 characters at most. Transmit Custom Prefix Don t Transmit Custom Prefix* Steps to add prefix To set a custom prefix, scan the custom prefix barcode first, and then check the numeric barcodes corresponding to the hexadecimal value of a desired prefix. Custom Prefix For example:when you add VC as prefix, the corresponding Hex value is 0x56/0x43) A Scan Transmit Custom Prefix programming code to start setting B Scan Custom Prefix C Scan the numeric barcodes 5, 6, 4, 3 (See the Digit Barcodes section in Appendix) D You finished adding prefix 39 / 66

Custom Suffix Users can custom the suffix of the output code for your requirements. For example, when you add suffix AB to barcode 123, the host will receive AB123. Note: Prefix and suffix can add 15 characters at most. Transmit Custom Suffix Don t Transmit Custom Suffix* Steps to add suffix To set a custom suffix, scan the custom suffix barcode first, and then check the numeric barcodes corresponding to the hexadecimal value of a desired suffix. Custom Suffix For example:when you add VC as prefix, the corresponding Hex value is 0x56/0x43) A Scan Transmit Custom Suffix programming code to start setting B Scan Custom Suffix C Scan the numeric barcodes 5, 6, 4, 3 (See the Digit Barcodes section in Appendix) 41 / 66

Introduction Chapter 5 Symbologies Every symbology (barcode type) has its own unique attributes. This chapter provides programming barcodes for configuring the scanner so that it can identify various barcode symbologies. It is recommended to disable those that are rarely used to increase the efficiency of the scanner. Enable/Disable All Symbologies If the Disable All Symbologies feature is enabled, the engine will not be able to read any non-programming barcodes except the programming barcodes.
