3 INTRODUCTION Featured products extension is used to display products as "featured" for your store. It is easy to setup and have many options for settings from admin. You can display featured products using block, template, layout and widget. EXTENSION FEATURES 1. Manage heading and sort order. 2. Show/hide the products Price, Ratings, Short Description, Add to cart, Add to Wish list, Add to Compare, Out of Stock Products. 3. Supported responsive theme template. 4. Display featured products in list or grid template. 5. Manage pagination and number of products per page. 6. Supported all types of products. 7. Set Thumbnail width & Thumbnail height. 8. Create widget with its options. 9. Supported multi store view. 10. Supported Security patch SUPEE Supported Magento version 1.5.x-1.9.x. Note: Before installing the extension, please: 1. Disable Compilation by going to Backend -> System -> Tool -> Compilation 2. If your website is live, please backup your store database. 3

4 INSTALLATION Using Magento Connect: Step-1 Go to admin System Magento Connect Magento Connect Manager. You will get Following Screen. Enter your Username and Password here then, click on the login. Step-2 4

Copy featured folder from js/ and put it in to your magento /js/ folder. Copy CapacityWebSolutions_Featured.xml from app/etc/modules/ and put it in to your magento app/etc/modules/ folder. Copy CapacityWebSolutions folder from app/code/community/ and put it in to your magento app/code/community/ folder. Copy featured.xml from app/design/adminhtml/default/default/layout/ and put it in to your magento app/design/adminhtml/default/default/layout/ folder. Copy featured folder from app/design/adminhtml/default/default/template/ and put it in to your magento app/design/adminhtml/default/default/template/ folder. Copy featured.xml from app/design/frontend/base/default/layout/ and put it in to your magento app/design/ frontend/<your Package>/<Your_Theme>/layout/ folder. Copy featured folder from app/design/frontend/base/default/template/ and put it in to your magento app/design/frontend/<your package>/<your theme>/template/ folder. 5

6 Step-9 Copy featured folder from skin/frontend/base/default/css/ and put it in to your magento skin/frontend/<your Package>/<Your_Theme>/css/ folder. Note: After installing Featured Products Extension. Please Logout from admin account and Re-login. After Successfully installation and Re-login in admin panel and clear/refresh all your cache then you can see Featured Products menu under MageBees admin menu bar. 6

7 CONFIGURATION SETTINGS Step-1 Go to admin System Configuration MAGEBEES Featured Products. OR Go to admin MageBees Featured Products Settings. Step-2 Click on General Tab. You will get Following Screen. Enabled: Enable or disable this module from choosing Yes/No. Is Responsive Theme: Select yes if your theme is responsive. Display Heading: Select yes for display page heading. Heading: Set your title for Featured Products. Select Featured Products Type: You can display all products or by selected category. 7

8 Sort By: Set sorting attribute like name, price or position. Sort Order: Set sort order like ascending, descending or random. Show Products Price: On choosing yes product price display on featured products. Show Ratings: On choosing yes ratings display on featured products. Show Short Description: On choosing yes display short description on featured products. Short Description Word Limit: Set maximum short description word limit. Add to Cart: On choosing yes Add to Cart button display on featured products. Add to Wishlist: On choosing yes Add to Wishlist link display on featured products. Add to Compare: On choosing yes Add to compare link display on featured products. Display out of stock items: On choosing yes Out of Stock products display on featured products. Click on Template Settings Tab. Template: Set Grid or List type template. Number of Products to Display: Set total number of featured products to display. Display Page Control: Display number of pages and total number of items. Number of Products per Page: Set number of products per page if page control selected as yes. Thumbnail Width: Set thumbnail width in pixels. Thumbnail Height: Set thumbnail height in pixels. 8

9 LAYOUT SETTINGS Step-1 Go to admin System Configuration MAGEBEES Featured Products. OR Go to admin MageBees Featured Products Settings. Step-2 Click on Code Tab. You will get Following Screen. XML Code: Suppose you want to use XML Tag auto generated code of featured products copy XML Tag and put it in your Theme XML layout Files [app/design/frontend/<your package>/<your theme>/layout/]. For example we are putting XML Tag Block code in cms.xml file, so open your theme cms.xml file and put following code under content area. <cms_index_index translate="label"> <label>cms Home Page</label> <reference name="content"> <block type="featured/featured" name="featured"/> </reference> </cms_index_index> 9

10 Template Tag: If you want to display featured products in any CMS page. Go to admin CMS Pages and open Content tab put following code in editor. {{block type="featured/featured" name="featured"}} Call via Frontend Template File: If you want to display featured products in your template file [.phtml] you need to just paste this at any part of your template files. <?php echo $this->getlayout()->createblock("featured/featured")->tohtml();?> 10

11 MANAGE FEATURED PRODUCTS Step-1 Go to admin MageBees Featured Products Manage Featured Products. You will get the following screen. Step-2 Click on button. You will get following screen. 11

12 Step-3 Choose products from here and click on or button for save data. 12

13 CREATE FEATURED PRODUCTS WIDGET Go to admin CMS Widgets. You will get the following screen. Select MageBees:Featured Products Widget from Type and your Design package theme. Fill all required fields and select layout for display on specific page. Note: If you select Left Column or Right Column in Block Reference than only product name and image will be display and page layout options can be apply. (e.g. Display Page Control). 13

14 From Widget Options choose options for which contents you want to display. You can also add widget from editor using Insert Widget. 14

17 FAQs Q-1 I have installed featured products extension. But when I click on featured products tab in the config page will get a 404. :(. Solution: After install Featured Products Extension, please Logout from admin account and re login and Refresh Cache. Q-2 I have installed featured products extension on magento 1.9 (rwd package) but ratings not display on front-end. Solution: Step-1 Please open below file. <SITE ROOT>/skin/frontend/rwd/default/css/madisonisland.css. Step-2 Please find below code..cms-index-index.products-grid.ratings,.cms-index-index.products-grid.actions,.cms-index-noroute.products-grid.ratings,.cms-index-noroute.products-grid.actions { } display: none; Step-3 Please replace the find code..cms-index-index.products-grid.ratings,.cms-index-index.products-grid.actions,.cms-index-noroute.products-grid.ratings,.cms-index-noroute.products-grid.actions { display:; } 17

18 After replace Code then you will get below screen. Now check on front-end. Q-3: I applied the 6788 patch on my magento setup, a featured block doesn t show up on home page or any cms page. Solution: Go to admin -> System -> Permissions -> Block Click on Add New Block and fill details as follow: Block Name=>featured/featured Is Allowed=>Yes Now featured block has permission to display. Q-4: I choose featured products and save but it is not display on frontend. Solution: Please check your selected product is visible on frontend or not from manage products. 18
