3 E CST Return for Gujarat FORM III (B) E CST Return for Gujarat Central Sales TAX (CST) Form III (B) The Commercial Taxes Department of Gujarat has introduced new templates for electronic filing of CST Returns - Form III (B). The new E-CST templates are supported in Tally.ERP 9 through Stat.900 Version 94, which is available NOW to download from This facility allows exporting the data of CST Form III (B), Appendix I (Sales details) and Appendix II (purchase details) to the new excel templates as prescribed by the Department. The excel Template file needs to be downloaded with a valid login id and password as allotted by the department to the registered eligible dealers, from Commercial taxes department website: ( and same is copied to the Tally.ERP 9 folder (Right click on Tally.ERP 9 Icon Properties - Find Target) The Output File Names of the Excel Templates prescribed by the Gujarat Commercial Tax Department are: 1) CST_RET_FORM_3B_NEW.xls. to generate e-cst Return for Form III (B) 2) To generate Sales Details for e-cst Appendix I Sales_details_20000.xls Sales_details_2000.xls Sales_details_40000.xls Sales_details_500.xls 3) To generate Purchases Details for e-cst Appendix II Purchase_details_20000.xls Purchase_details_2000.xls Purchase_details_40000.xls Purchase_details_500.xls The details of Appendix I and Appendix II can be exported to the respective sales/purchase excel template files based on the no. of transactions. The value exported is GROSS value of sales/purchases, the value of adjustments, returns and additions are not considered. To view the E-CST menu in Tally.ERP 9 for exporting the values to the excel template files: Go to Gateway of Tally > Display > Statutory Reports > CST Reports > E-CST Forms

4 Fig. 1 In the absence of the prescribed template file in Tally.ERP 9 folder, and while trying to export CST Data an error message is displayed. i) If the file CST_RET_FORM_3B_NEW.xls is not available in Tally.ERP 9 folder, an error message is displayed as shown: Fig. 2 ii) If the files - Sales_details_500.xls / - purchase_details_500.xls are not available in Tally.ERP 9 folder, an error message is displayed as shown in Fig. 3:

5 Fig. 3 Fig. 4 Note: The path in which the E-Filing template is saved need not always be the folder where Tally.ERP 9 is installed. The exact path where the templates are saved can be given against the Export Location field for automatic display of the File names. After successful export of the date, the Template files can be validated and uploaded to the Commercial Tax department website as per the procedure laid by the Department for online filing of CST Returns.
