DVB-T DIGITAL TV RECEPTION NOTES (AUSTRALIA) Utilising the latest in DVB-T tuning technology, this 7 portable digital TV will give you crystal clear images and has been tuned to receive all available free to air digital television signals broadcast in Australia (and other countries) subscribing to the DVB-T channel spectrum. However being a portable device (with relatively less power than a set top box or home digital television), reception for this device is best when in metropolitan areas or places of known good reception. For indoor use, we recommend using the MCX to IEC adaptor or placing the device near a window. Trying to use the device to watch TV whilst travelling (in a car, train, bus, etc) is not recommended however watching content from a USB stick or SD memory card will have no problem. We recommend Freemake is easy to use and the file conversions have been tested to work with this device.. If you are unsure how to tackle file conversation or you have never done it before, we recommend that you have a few trial runs of the software so you can become familiar with the terminology and processes. Following are some notes that may help you on your way: 1. Once you have installed Freemake and it is operating correctly, open the program and select the file you wish to convert using the icons at the top of the screen. 2. Once selected, the confirmation screen will allow you to check that you have selected the correct file. 3. Then select the AVI icon from the list at the bottom of the screen. Locate it by using the left and right arrows if needed. 4. Select DVD quality in the preset field, the save-to location for the file, and then press the convert button 5. After a short period (a progress bar will appear) a confirmation screen will appear to advise if your conversation was successful. The file is now ready to use. 11

12 TROUBLE SHOOTING Q & A Most of the troubleshooting issues can be easily solved. The most common cases and solutions are listed below. If the problem persists, please contact the LASER support team for further assistance. Problem Possible Reason Solution No picture, no audio. In DVB-T mode, the number of DVB-T channels is not as much as we expected. In DVB-T mode, all of the channels show no signal or random mosaic tiles appear on the display. The battery is totally discharged. The power cord is not properly inserted into the unit. The unit is not switched on. The SD/MMC Card or USB device is not properly inserted. The number of available channels is limited due to your local reception. The available channels can vary depending on the area. The signal quality of some TV channels is too low. Some TV channels are not available. Some TV channel signals are very weak. Wrong antenna setting Connect the unit to an external power source to charge the battery. Check the power lead connection. When using the in-car power connector, check if the power is available at the socket. Slide the power switch to the ON position. Check the SD/MMC Card or USB device to ensure it is properly inserted into unit. Perform an Auto Search to rescan all channels when you are in a better reception area. Otherwise connect the device to a wall antenna socket via the MCX-IEC cable Use the external antenna to increase the reception sensitivity. For indoor use, place the antenna close to a window and place it clear of obstructions. Only locally broadcasted channels can be viewed. They can differ depending on the area you are in Use the external antenna to increase the reception sensitivity. For indoor use, place the antenna close to a window and place it clear of obstructions. Otherwise connect the device to a wall antenna socket via the MCX- IEC cable Make sure the antenna setting is set to the 12

13 correct selection. The video is fine but there is no sound. No DVB-T service is provided in the area. The audio volume is too low. The audio is muted. The ear buds are not connected properly. The device is located close to strong magnetic field. Check your countries DVB-T coverage map. It is not possible to watch digital TV in areas with no DVB-T signal coverage. Use the volume keys to raise the volume. Use the mute button to disable the mute function. Check if the headphone plug is clean and inserted correctly.
