1 PRESS INFORMATION Give your effectiveness a genuine boost Olympus WS range of voice recorders with enhanced features and improved usability Hamburg, 10 January 2012 Specifically designed with the needs of business users and students in mind, the latest incarnations of the Olympus WS range incorporate newly-developed, high sensitivity, low noise directional microphones ensuring the human voice is captured in optimal stereo quality. Thanks to their high signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio, recordings made by the Olympus WS-811, WS-812 and WS-813 are splendidly pure. Moreover, the WS-813 and WS-812 incorporate 44.1k/16bit PCM (WAV) recording, which is equal-to-cd quality. Many pro features also join the list in these very reasonably priced units: Sound recording levels can be set manually (except WS-811) and playback speed can be adjusted to allow for quick and easy perusal of file contents to boost efficiency. Voice Playback technology enables only the portions of recordings containing voice to be played back and the Voice Balancer function means the sound levels of voices are automatically balanced out (both features WS-812 and WS-813 only). Finding recordings is also made easy with the clever Calendar Search function and files can also be simply moved between folders (WS-812 and WS-813) for better organisation. These slender, lightweight audio recorders only require one AAA-type battery and deliver up to 27 hours of recording time (in LP mode). Each model comes with ample memory on board plus the flexibility of a microsd Card slot and a direct USB connection means no cable is needed. The freshly redesigned WS-811, WS-812 and WS-813 are true multi-function devices that combine a stereo recorder with USB stick and mp3 player functionality. They will become available from March 2012 at the respective retail prices of 79.99, and

An improved stereo microphone captures sound in highest quality and with an excellent S/N ratio with the WS-813 also featuring a special range adjustable Zoom Microphone function. Their low noise and high sensitivity attributes together with a new highperformance audio codec mean these models are ideal for recording the human voice. In addition, the Noise Cancel feature ensures unwanted background sounds are minimised. A further benefit for users is the integrated Voice Playback technology (WS-812 and WS-813), which distinguishes the human voice from other sounds so that non-voice portions are skipped and only those with voice are played back. Fluctuating sound levels because of soft or loud voices, or due to people speaking from various distances from the microphone, are balanced out by the Voice Balancer function in the WS-812 & WS-813. The top two models of this trio also allow recording levels to be set manually to ensure complete user control. Files can be saved in mp3 or WMA format with the WS-812 and WS-813 also boasting the pureness of PCM file format for equal-to-cd sound quality recording. Boosting efficiency The new WS models are all about helping to simplify users day-to-day life and raise their effectiveness. That s why Olympus has revamped the physical design along with the user interface to make operation easier and more enjoyable than ever. But that s not all: Files can now be located more easily due to the Calendar Search function. This allows recordings to be found via the date they were created. Scanning through and listening to the files is also made more comfortable and fast due to playback speeds up to 3.5x quicker than normal (2x speed on the WS-811). Recordings may also be played back using the Voice Changer feature (WS-812 and WS-813) that lets the frequency and playback speed of voice to be adjusted to suit individual needs and preferences. And to support effective organisation, 2

3 files can be easily moved across folders following recording (WS-812 and WS-813). When the work is done and it s time to relax, users can listen to audio files saved in memory thanks to the music playback function. Furthermore, the WS-813 also incorporates an FM radio. Flexibility to suit your needs The Olympus WS-811, WS-812 and WS-813 incorporate ample internal memory of 2, 4 and 8GB, respectively. For those wishing to extend memory and recording times further, each model also boasts a handy microsd Card slot enabling up to 32GB of additional storage capacity. An integrated USB port is also on board to provide USB stick functionality and facilitate the fast and easy transfer of files directly to and from a computer. Battery life has been extended so that recording can go on and on. Thanks to the new sub- CPU and audio codec, power consumption is reduced by around 8% allowing 27 hours or more of recording with a single AAA-type alkaline battery. Slim in size, low in weight but packed with easy-to-use features to boost productivity, the Olympus WS-811, WS-812 and WS-813 are the perfect companions for all students and businesspeople.
