For safety reasons, only operate or change parameters of the system when the car is in parking position. Do not use any functions which could distract you from driving safely! Adjust the volume in a way you can still hear tone signals like alarms from outside the car! Do not look at the screen while driving the car. Enter any guidance BEFORE you start your journey! If any problems with the system arise, stop usage immediately! You must not disassemble or modify any parts of the system! Also read and follow the operating manual of the navigation module Alpine NVE- M300P carefully! The NVE unit is directly coupled with the ignition switch, so it will go off if the key is removed. Please give the unit some time to start up its operating system.

System activation Navigationsrechner Startbild The PCM unit can be started as in the original state by pressing the volume button or turning the key in the ignition lock to the first or second position. During the first operation, there is no visible difference between the original PCM and the upgraded version. The buttons CC, CD, FM, AM, 1-6, MAIN, AUDIO, TEL, BC, AC, dark, TEL and repeat keep their original functionality. The buttons map and NAVI however will switch the screen to the new Alpine NVE- M300P navigation unit. To use the navigation, set the key to the first step of the ignition (Position Radio). The NVE unit is directly coupled with the ignition switch, so it will go off if the key is removed. Please give the unit some time to start up its operating system. If you get the message Navigation is offline on the screen, you might want to check if ignition is realy in position 1 or ON. 2. Entering destination / Guidance After a while you can see the screen of the navigation unit. For entering destinations, watch out for the symbol on the left side of this text. Find this symbol on the navigation screen and press on it. Then choose Destination. Entering targets is a more or less selfexplanatory issue. For further instructions on how to use the NVE- M300P navigation unit, check the manual of the navigation unit. 3. Internal settings The upgraded PCM has some new features which need further configuration. This internal settings menu can be activated follow these steps. - Go to a PCM Menu by pressing BC,AUDIO,TEL,AC - Touch the screen in the middle gently You should get a menu like shown on the left side of this text. You can always leave the menu by pressing the arrow in the right upper corner. Also, you can quit the settings menu by pressing the TAPE EJECT button. With the %-setting, you can adjust the volume of the voice announcements. There are two possibilities to adjust the audio level.

3 Navigation Volume Within this menu, you can adjust the volume of the audio guidance announcements from the navigation unit. With the setting Voice is On Off you can switch on or off any voice announcement, completely. Is this set to Off,you will not hear any voice announcements at all. With the %-setting, you can adjust the volume of the voice announcements. There are two possibilities to adjust the audio level. The first one is Fixed which allows you to keep the announcements on a level, completly independent from radio/cd music level. You cannot change this volume setting with the volume control knob of the PCM. This fixed level can only be controlled through the settings menu. The second method called Dynamic can be used to adjust the sound level compared to the current music level. By setting the level to 50% means, announcements are about as loud as radio FM/AM. The sound of CD might appear louder. To compensate this, you can also choose the level a bit higher here, like for example many customers use about 60-65%. By setting the sound mode to Dynamic you can also change the sound volume at any time by turning the volume knob of the PCM. Use Show Map ON if you like to get a view on the current map position when a guidance announcement is started. By setting to OFF you will only hear announcements in the background. And the PCM screen stays in its original selection. If you have missed any guidance announcement, you can always force the system to repeat the last sentence by pressing the arrow symbol shown on the left side of this text. 4 Screen Settings Within this menu, you can change settings of the new touch screen. With Contrast you can change the picture contrast (bright vs. Dark parts) and with Brightness you can set the intensity of the picture. The back light of the screen can be adjusted under the back light Backlight menu. HINT: Contrast and Brightness of PCM menus and Navigation screen can be adjusted separately. First go to MAIN or NAVI, then start the settings menu and change Contrast/Brightness to be sure you change the input you like to adjust. Settings are stored after the car has been switched off for about a minute. Configuration Some basic configuration can be found under this menu point. These configurations usually need only to be set once and are only changed very seldom. RCAM CONFIG allows configuration of an optional rear / backup camera. With Touch Calib you can readjust the touch screen input position. Your PCM is usually shipped with correct calibration values, so there is no need for any readjustment. This might be needed, if the screen becomes too dark, or the system does no longer react properly on touch screen commands. 1. Turn off ignition, remove key. 2. Wait for about one minute to be sure PCM is in sleep mode 3. Press the AC button below the screen and keep it while you continue to step Put key into lock and turn it to first position. The screen remains dark but may show some weak back light. 6. Press once on the touch screen. Now the three red X symbols should appear on the screen like shown at point touch screen calibration in this manual. Do the calibration as described. 7. 4. Update The PNU system as well as the Alpine navigation system NVE- M300P can be updated. To perform an update of the navigation system, please visit the homepage of the manufacturer: http://www.

But before doing an update, you must set the PNU into boot loader state 1. connect the OBD cable to your PC/Laptop that runs operating system Windows(TM).

5 4. Update The PNU system as well as the Alpine navigation system NVE- M300P can be updated. To perform an update of the navigation system, please visit the homepage of the manufacturer: The PNU system can be updated over the car's On Board Diagnosis port (OBD III plug). But before doing an update, you must set the PNU into boot loader state 1. connect the OBD cable to your PC/Laptop that runs operating system Windows(TM). Depending on the operating system, it will install the driver automatically or it will ask for a driver. The driver for this cable can be downloaded here: 2. Switch of the ignition, remove the key from lock and wait for a minute so that the PCM can switch off completely. Just a second before it goes into sleep, the screen flashes up for a very short time. This indicates, that the system is now in sleep mode. Do not try to switch on the radio during this period. Else the PCM will not go into sleep mode. 3. Now press the audio cassette Eject-Button and keep it pressed while inserting again the key into the ignition. Set ignition to the first position. Now you should see a test screen with colour bars. If you get the usual radio view, try again with step 2 and wait for a longer time. 4. Now start the PNU updater program which is available from our homepage. First you choose the COM port of the OBD cable. The COM port is that one, that appears additionally in the selecting list, after the cable ist connected to the PC. If you do not know the COM Port number of the cable, unplug the OBD cable, restart PNU updater and write down all available COM ports. The plug in the OBD cable, restart PNU updater and select the COM port that now newly appeared on the selection list. If there cannot be found a new COM port, there maybe a problem with the driver installation. In this case, please check in Windows System Control, System Device Manager. You will get a list of devices installed within your computer. Below Connections (COM & LPT) you should be able to find the OBD cable as USB Serial Port (COMx) when it is plugged in. Also make sure that the COM number is 8 or less. You can change the COM port settings, by going into Properties of the device. Please choose a COM port between 1 and Choose an Update file. These file can be recognised by the ending.pnu 6. Click on Start Update and wait until the progress bar reached 100% and the tool indicates Update Successful. 7. Switch off the PNU system by turning off the ignition. Wait again for one minute until the test screen disappears (the screen goes black). Now switch on the ignition again. This is usually only possible though OBD diagnosis systems. This function can be started by choosing point OBD Live Data in the main menu of the PNU settings menu. If you need to visit a service station, remove this plug before doing so. It must be removed to allow onboard diagnosis. Also stop and do not use the OBD Live Data function while another diagnosis system is connected to the car! 6. Recycling/Disposal: Please do NEVER dispose the PCM / PNU unit into ordinary household waste. The system must be recycled professionally. Please contact your local recycling stations for help or contact the manufacturer. You can also always return the unit to the manufacturer free of charge. 7.
