2 EagleEye4 Series Smart Camera Smart Camera is a highly integrated imaging system. It contains image acquisition module, image processing module, system communication module and other modules inside, so as to provide easy-implement solutions for complex, modular, reliable and real-time vision technology. EagleEye4 Series smart camera integrates a high performance TI DSP processor as system CPU, with high efficiency real-time operating system (SYS/BIOS), Sony and TSI's progressive scan CCD, and abundant peripheral interfaces (UART, PIO, Gigabit Ethernet, etc.). EagleEye4 series camera supports secondary embedded development. With mature SDK and technical documents, user is able to easily implement all kinds of intelligent algorithms and applications on our camera platform. This feature is very useful for field maintenance. The DSP JTAG signals are connected to rear panel interface, so the camera case needn't be opened when an emulator is connected to the DSP to debug in TI CCS IDE software. DSP and FPGA program can be downloaded via Ethernet. Also the camera can be restarted via Ethernet commands. This feature is very useful for field maintenance.

3 DSP-Based Intelligent Platform System Structure H.264 Encoding ASIC H.264 Video Streaming DSP (SYS/BIOS) Sensor FPGA H.264 Data Acquisition Network ISP Raw Image Data After ISP Image Data Acquisition User-defined Algorithm JPEG Encoding Peripheral Devices The main components of EagleEye4 series smart camera includes: Sensor, FPGA, H.264 Encoding ASIC and DSP. Sensor As the image data source of the smart camera, the sensor collects all the image data and transfers to FPGA. EagleEye4 series smart camera uses high-end progressive scan color CCD. The possible speed for captured vehicle is up to 180km/h. FPGA Working as the execution unit, FPGA receives the system control commands from DSP and carries out the driver control for other system units (CCD, UART, IO, FLASH, etc.). The Image Signal Preprocessing (ISP) engine developed by ROSEEK is also embedded in the FPGA for image interpolating, enhancement, denoising, white-balancing, saturation adjustment, etc. H.264 Encoding ASIC is a separate chip from DSP, working as the video streaming compression unit for EalgeEye4 series smart camera. After the ISP module, FPGA transfers the image data to the H.264 Encoding ASIC and DSP at the same time. The ASIC compresses the image data to HD H.264 video streaming in real time, meantime the DSP can deploy all the resources for the embedded image processing algorithms. DSP EagleEye4 series smart camera utilizes TMS320C6655 fixed and floating point DSP from TI as the system CPU. The DSP has powerful data computational capability (core 1M-Byte L2 Cache, 1M-byte L3 Cache, 1G-Byte DDR3 RAM@1333M). The efficient real time operating system (RTOS) SYS/BIOS carried on the DSP provides high system scheduling ability and execution efficiency. The EagleEye4 camera is appropriate for LPR, motion detection, vehicle counting, behavior analysis, face recognition, etc. Further, DM6655 integrates Gigabit Ethernet interface to support multiple standard network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP and HTTP) as well as extended network protocols (RTSP, ONVIF, etc.) to meet the network communication demands in all kinds of applications. C6655, as the CPU of the smart camera, is completely open to the users. Users can implement complex image processing algorithms and controlling for smart cameras as well as peripherals by C language.

4 Software Development for Smart Camera Development of applications and algorithms in CCS (similar to Eclipse) Easy Development Method With the abundant API functions (user can control all camera hardware modules by API functions) and highly open Demo program (modular and readable), EagleEye Series smart camera is very easy to develop. Detailed technical documents are included in the user SDK. User can use Standard C language to program without knowing much of DSP development. Besides, ROSEEK provides steady IDE and convenient remote update tool. For development of application, user just needs to modify Demo program by adding algorithm module and system control logic. In addition, remote update tool allows updating program for smart camera through Ethernet.
