4 Chapter 1 Firmware Release Note Introduction to Micrologic X Control Unit Masterpact MTZ circuit breakers with Micrologic X control units provide protection functions, metering, diagnostics, communication, and remote operations. The control unit is customizable with optional Digital Modules. Micrologic X control units allow operation and monitoring of Masterpact MTZ circuit breakers locally or remotely. 5 Baseline A baseline in product life cycle is a reference point marked by the completion and formal approval of a set of device versions. The standard protection functions of the Micrologic X control unit are operational during the firmware upgrade. When upgrading the firmware version of the Micrologic X control unit, Schneider Electric recommends that you upgrade the firmware of the associated Enerlin X devices (IFE, EIFE, IFM interfaces and IO module) to avoid discrepancies between devices (see page 8). For more information, refer to Ecoreach Online Help. The latest version of Ecoreach software is available at DOCA0144EN-01 5

8 Chapter 2 Firmware Upgrade with Ecoreach Software Upgrading Firmware of Micrologic X Control Unit Prerequisites The prerequisites for upgrading Micrologic X firmware version xx are the following: The latest version of Ecoreach software (V2.8) must be downloaded and installed on the PC. The PC must be connected to a power supply. Standby mode must be deactivated to avoid the possibility of interruption during the upgrade. The PC must be connected to the mini USB port on the Micrologic X control unit by using the USB cable with part number LV850067SP. The Micrologic X control unit must be continuously powered during the firmware upgrade. o When the control unit is not connected to other ULP modules, it is powered by the PC through the mini USB port. o When the control unit is connected to other ULP modules, it must be powered by an external 24 Vdc power supply. The Micrologic X level 4 password is required to launch the firmware upgrade. For more information, refer to Ecoreach Online Help. Procedure for Upgrading Micrologic X Firmware NOTICE HAZARD OF MICROLOGIC X CONTROL UNIT DETERIORATION The Micrologic X control unit must be continuously powered during the firmware upgrade. Do not disconnect the USB cable before clicking the CLOSE button. Failure to follow these instructions will result in deterioration of the Micrologic X control unit. Follow this procedure to upgrade the firmware version of the Micrologic X control unit: 1 Disable all wireless access (Bluetooth and NFC) between the Micrologic X control unit and a smartphone. 2 Use the USB cable with part number LV850067SP, to connect a PC to the mini USB port on the front face of the Micrologic X control unit. 8 DOCA0144EN-01

9 3 Click Connect Device Directly. 4 Fill in the required information about the Ecoreach project and click APPLY. DOCA0144EN-01 9

10 5 The Masterpact MTZ device is displayed. If a new Micrologic X firmware version is available, a blue pop-up message is displayed to invite the user to upgrade the firmware. Click CONNECT TO DEVICE. 6 Go to the Configure section and click Write to Project to save the Micrologic X settings. 7 Click Firmware. NOTE: The following firmware versions can be upgraded: Click UPGRADE to launch the firmware upgrade. The upgrade takes approximately 15 minutes. NOTE: Do not connect a smartphone to the Micrologic X control unit during the firmware upgrade. NOTE: During the firmware upgrade, the protection functions of the Micrologic X control unit are operational. No data or measurements are available or refreshed on the different communication interfaces. The Micrologic X control unit screen displays the following message during an upgrade: 10 DOCA0144EN-01

11 9 When the upgrade is finished, Ecoreach software displays the following screen. Click CLOSE to acknowledge. 10 Refresh the Ecoreach page. Result: Ecoreach indicates other Enerlin'X devices which need to be upgraded, if any. 11 Upgrade the firmware version of associated Enerlin X devices, if any (see page 12). DOCA0144EN-01 11

12 Upgrading Firmware of Enerlin X Devices Introduction If Enerlin X devices are connected to the Micrologic X control unit, Schneider Electric recommends that you upgrade the firmware of the associated Enerlin X devices (IFE, EIFE, IFM interfaces, and IO module) after upgrading the firmware version of the Micrologic X control unit, to avoid discrepancies between devices. The firmware upgrade of the Enerlin X devices with Ecoreach software can be done: With the PC connected to the communication network With the PC connected to the mini USB port of the Micrologic X control unit for Micrologic X control units with firmware version greater than or equal to V xxx. NOTE: If Enerlin X devices are associated with the Micrologic X control unit, from the start of the Micrologic X firmware upgrade and until the Enerlin X devices are upgraded, the event Critical Firmware Discrepancy is detected. An event message is displayed on the screen of the control unit. When there is a firmware discrepancy between the Micrologic X control unit and the communication interfaces (IFE, EIFE or IFM interface), Micrologic X data is not available remotely. 12 DOCA0144EN-01

13 Procedure for Upgrading Enerlin X Device Firmware NOTICE HAZARD OF DEVICE DETERIORATION The Enerlin X device must be continuously powered during the firmware upgrade. Failure to follow these instructions will result in Enerlin X device deterioration. Follow this procedure to upgrade the firmware version of an Enerlin X device, for example, EIFE interface, with the PC running Ecoreach software and connected to the mini USB port on the Micrologic X control unit, by using the USB cable with part number LV850067SP.: 1 After upgrading the firmware of the Micrologic X control unit, refresh the Ecoreach page. Result: Ecoreach software indicates the next Enerlin X device to be upgraded. 2 Click UPGRADE. The upgrade takes approximately 40 minutes. The Micrologic X level 4 password is required to launch the firmware upgrade. NOTE: During the firmware upgrade, no data is available on the Ethernet communication interface. 3 Refresh the Ecoreach page. Result: Ecoreach software indicates other Enerlin'X devices which need to be upgraded, if any. 4 Upgrade the firmware version of other associated Enerlin X devices, if any. DOCA0144EN-01 13

14 Chapter 3 Purchasing and Installing a Digital Module Purchasing a Digital Module Prerequisites The prerequisites are: The Micrologic X firmware version must be greater than or equal to V The latest version of Ecoreach software (V2.8) must be downloaded and installed on the PC The PC must be connected to a power supply The PC must be connected to the Internet You must have a GoDigital user account Selecting and Purchasing a Digital Module in GoDigital Follow this procedure to select and purchase a Digital Module: 1 Open Ecoreach software on a PC connected to the Internet. 2 Connect to your Masterpact MTZ device by clicking Connect to Device. 3 Click Digital Modules. 14 DOCA0144EN-01

15 4 Click the BUY button of the Digital Module that you want to purchase. 5 Click Login and enter your account credentials. 6 Check that the Digital Module you want to purchase is selected and click Add to Cart. Result: The reference for the purchase is displayed. DOCA0144EN-01 15

16 7 Click Done. Your cart is displayed. 8 Check your order, your address and your subscription location. NOTE: The cart can be saved for future validation and purchase by clicking Save Cart. To purchase more than one Digital Module, or Digital Modules for more than one Micrologic X control unit, save the cart, and click Continue Shopping. If necessary, get the serial number of another control unit, and repeat step 4. When you are ready to purchase, click Checkout. The payment method screen opens. 9 Select Wire Transfer. Click the checkbox next to I agree and click Proceed to next step. An order confirmation screen opens. 10 Click Confirm Order. A screen confirming your purchase opens, and you receive an confirming the purchase. 16 DOCA0144EN-01

17 Downloading and Installing a Digital Module Downloading a Digital Module Follow this procedure to download a Digital Module: 1 In your mailbox, select the from no-reply@schneider-electric.com in your mailbox to download your Digital Module. The subject is Your Digital Modules are ready for download. A list of the Digital Modules ready to be downloaded opens. 2 Click the checkbox next to the Digital Module that you want to download and click Download to download the delivery package. NOTE: This delivery package is used to install the Digital Module on the Micrologic X control unit using Ecoreach software. Make sure that the delivery package is present on the PC used to install Digital Modules. NOTE: If the Digital Module was purchased previously, you can access the file download by clicking the following link: Installing a Digital Module on the Micrologic X Control Unit The Micrologic X level 4 password is required to install a Digital Module on the Micrologic X control unit. Follow this procedure to install a purchased Digital Module on a Micrologic X control unit: 1 Use the USB cable with part number LV850067SP to connect a PC running Ecoreach software to the mini USB port on the front face of the Micrologic X control unit. 2 Click Connect Device Directly to establish a connection between the Ecoreach software and the Micrologic X control unit. Ecoreach software displays the Micrologic X control unit identification number on the screen. 3 Open the Digital Module page by clicking Digital Modules. 4 Check that the delivery package for the Digital Module to be installed is present on the PC being used. 5 Select the Digital Module to be installed by clicking Install. The standard protection functions of the Micrologic X control unit remain active during installation of the Digital Module. NOTE: Only modules previously purchased can be installed directly by clicking Install. 6 When installation is complete and before unplugging the PC, disconnect Ecoreach software from the Micrologic X control unit by clicking the Disconnect button. 7 Use the Masterpact MTZ Mobile App to check that the Digital Module is installed.
