Chapter 1 Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide This installation guide provides an administrator with all instructions needed for successfully installing and setting up Lotus Sametime version 2.5. About the Installation Guide This guide provides: Instructions for upgrading to Sametime 2.5 Basic descriptions of the ways Sametime can be installed Detailed instructions for installing and setting up Sametime for each possible scenario This Installation Guide is intended to be used with the Sametime 2.5 Installation CD. To begin, read Installing Sametime to determine the environment into which you want to install Sametime and the type of installation you want to perform. Detailed installation procedures for each possible installation are provided in Chapter 2 of this Installation Guide. Installing Sametime Sametime consists of server and client applications that enable a community of users to collaborate through instant messaging and real-time, online meetings. Members of the Sametime community use collaborative activities such as presence, instant messaging, text chat, screen sharing, and a shared whiteboard, to sending Web pages, and work together in instant or scheduled online meetings. Sametime 2.5 also includes an optional Multimedia Services package that adds real-time IP audio/video capabilities to the core Sametime server. Before installing the Sametime server, you should decide what environment you want to install the Sametime server in and whether you want to install the core Sametime server, or both the core Sametime server and the Multimedia Services. 1

Sametime 2.5 also includes a Sametime Client Packager application. This application enables a Sametime administrator to pre-configure the options and Connectivity settings that are available with the Sametime Connect client. The Client Packager ensures that each Sametime Connect client that is downloaded and installed from the Sametime server is pre-configured with the appropriate Connectivity settings and features for your network environment. Choosing the Domino or Web-only environment You can install the Sametime server in either a Domino or a Web-only environment. Domino environment If your organization uses Domino servers, and you want the Sametime server to interoperate with Domino servers as a member of an existing Domino domain (or community), follow the instructions in this manual for installing Sametime in a Domino environment. You can install the Sametime server on a dedicated Windows NT or Windows 2000 server in a Domino environment, or you can install the Sametime server on the same machine as an existing Domino server (R5.0.7a or higher). In the Domino environment, users access the Sametime server with a Web browser or the Sametime Connect client. Web-only environment If your organization does not use Domino servers, follow the instructions in this manual for installing Sametime in a Web-only environment. The Web-only installation is the simplest, quickest way to install a Sametime server for tests, pilots, or new communities that are established using self-registration. In the Web-only environment, the Sametime server does not interact with Domino servers. Users access a Web-only Sametime server with a Web browser or the Sametime Connect client. Note All Sametime collaborative capabilities are supported in either the Domino or Web-only environment. Installing the core Sametime server and Multimedia Services During the installation, you can install only the core Sametime server or you can install both the core Sametime server and the Multimedia Services. The Sametime installation provides the following options regarding the installation of the core Sametime server and the Multimedia Services: Install only the core Sametime server Presence, instant messaging, chat, screen-sharing, whiteboard, sending Web pages, polling, recorded meetings, and broadcast functionality are supported by the core Sametime server. 2 Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide

Install both the core Sametime server and the Multimedia Services The Multimedia Services package adds interactive audio/video capabilities to the functionality supported by the core Sametime server. You can perform a Complete installation that simultaneously installs both the core Sametime server and the Multimedia Services. Install only the Multimedia Services This option enables you to install only the Multimedia Services. The core Sametime server must already be installed on the computer before you can install the Multimedia Services. This option enables you to install the core Sametime server first, and then install the Multimedia Services at a later time. Installing the Sametime clients Users interact with the Sametime server using specially-designed Sametime clients. The installation of the primary Sametime clients is discussed briefly below. The primary Sametime clients include: Sametime Connect Sametime 2.5 includes two versions of the Sametime Connect client: a standalone Windows application and a signed Java applet that runs in a user s Web browser. The administrator controls the availability of these clients through settings in the Sametime Administration Tool or from the Sametime Client Packager application. The Windows version (Sametime Connect for the desktop) and Java version (Sametime Connect for browsers) of Sametime Connect are accessed from separate links available from the Sametime server home page. To use the Windows-based version of Sametime Connect, users download the Sametime Connect client from the Sametime server and run the installation on their local machines. To use the Java-based version of Sametime Connect, users select a link on the server home page and the client loads in the user s Web browser; a separate installation procedure is not required. Both versions of the client connect to the Community Services and provide presence, instant messaging, and chat functionality to members of the Community. Users can also start instant meetings that include all collaborative activities from the Sametime Connect client. Sametime 2.5 includes a Client Packager application that enables you to pre-configure the connectivity and user preference settings of all Sametime Connect clients downloaded from the Sametime server. If you do not pre-configure these settings, each end user might need to configure the Sametime Connect client settings after downloading the client. Chapter 1: Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide 3

Sametime Meeting Room Users participate in instant and scheduled interactive meetings using the Sametime Meeting Room client. The Sametime Meeting Room client contains components that support all Sametime collaborative activities, including presence, text chat, screen sharing, whiteboard, sending Web pages, polling, and interactive audio and video. The Sametime Meeting Room client is a signed Java applet that runs in the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) of a user s Web browser. The Sametime Meeting Room client is automatically downloaded and cached on a user s machine the first time the user attends an interactive meeting in the Sametime Meeting Center application on the Sametime server. Users should click Yes when prompted to trust the signer of the Sametime Meeting Room client when the client is downloaded from the server. No other actions are required by the end user to install this Java client. Sametime Broadcast client Similar to the Meeting Room client, the Sametime Broadcast client is a Java applet that runs in the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) of a user s Web browser. The Sametime Broadcast client is automatically downloaded and cached on a user s machine the first time a user attends a broadcast meeting in the Sametime Meeting Center application on the Sametime server. Users should click Yes when prompted to trust the signer of the Sametime Broadcast client when the client is downloaded from the server. No other actions are required by the end user to install this Java client. Note You might want to schedule some sample interactive and broadcast meetings in the Sametime Meeting Center to ensure that the Meeting Room and Broadcast clients are downloaded and cached on each user s computer. Once these clients are cached, the process of attending subsequent meetings operates more efficiently. About the Sametime server The services provided by the Sametime server are summarized below. For more information about these services and the server administration features associated with them, see the Sametime 2.5 Administrator s Guide. Note The Sametime 2.5 Administrator s Guide is available as a PDF file (STHELPAD.PDF) on the Sametime server CD. The administrator s guide can also be accessed from the Help menu of the Sametime Administration Tool. 4 Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide

About the Domino/Web Application Services Sametime uses the Domino R5.0.7a infrastructure and services. The following are the primary Domino services used by a Sametime server: Web server Directory Security Replication Database storage About the Community Services The Sametime Community Services support all presence (or awareness), instant messaging, and text chat activity in a Sametime community. Any Sametime client that contains a presence list must connect to the Community Services. The Community Services clients include the Sametime Connect client, the Sametime Meeting Room client (Participant List and Chat components), and presence lists in Sametime Discussion or TeamRoom databases. Basic functionality supported by the Community Services includes: Handling client login requests. Listening for connections from clients that access the Sametime server through a direct TCP/IP connection, or through HTTP, HTTPS, or SOCKS proxy servers. Up to 20,000 TCP/IP connections to Community Services are supported. Clients connect to Community Services on port 1533 by default. Accessing a directory for user name search and display purposes. Accessing a directory to compile lists of all Sametime servers and users in the community. Dissemination of presence and chat data to all users connected to Community Services. Maintenance of privacy information for online users. Interacting with the Sametime Meeting Services to create meetings in which collaborative activities supported by the Community Services, Meeting Services, and Audio/Video Services (if the Multimedia Services is installed) are simultaneously available. Chapter 1: Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide 5

Connecting and communicating with the Community Services on other Sametime servers when multiple Sametime servers are installed. Server-to-server connections for Community Services occur on default TCP/IP port Logging of Community Services events to the Sametime log (STLOG.NSF). About the Meeting Services The Meeting Services include the T.120 multipoint communications software that supports screen sharing and the shared whiteboard and the starting, stopping, and deletion of meetings. If you have installed the Multimedia Services, the Meeting Services also support connections for the interactive audio/video components of the Sametime Meeting Room client. Basic functionality supported by the Meeting Services includes: Creating and destroying meeting objects. Listening for connections from clients that access the Sametime server through a direct TCP/IP connection, or through HTTP or SOCKS proxy servers. Clients connect to the Meeting Services on port 8081 by default. Dissemination of T.120 screen-sharing, whiteboard, sending Web pages, and polling data among multiple users in a meeting. Maintaining lists of active, scheduled, and completed meetings. Starting and stopping instant and scheduled meetings at the appropriate times. Interacting with the Community Services to create meetings in which collaborative activities supported by the Community Services, Meeting Services, and Audio/Video Services (if installed) are simultaneously available. Connecting and communicating with the Meeting Services of other Sametime servers when a community includes multiple Sametime servers. These connections enable a single meeting to be active on multiple Sametime servers. Server-to-server connections occur on default TCP/IP port 1503 by default. Logging Meeting Services events to the Sametime log (STLOG.NSF). About the Broadcast Services The Broadcast Services support the conversion of screen-sharing/whiteboard, audio, and video data into individual RTP streams for transmission on the network. The Sametime Broadcast client is the only client of the Broadcast Services. The Broadcast Services enable a large audience of users to watch meeting activity but not interact in the meeting. 6 Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide

Note Audio and video data streams are available only if you have installed the Multimedia Services. Basic functionality supported by the Broadcast Services includes: Listening for Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) connections from the Sametime Broadcast clients that access the Sametime server through a direct TCP/IP connection, or through HTTP or SOCKS proxy servers Negotiations with the Broadcast clients to ensure the clients can receive the broadcast meeting streams Identifying and attaching to broadcast meetings on the Sametime server Transcoding screen-sharing/whiteboard data, audio data, and video data into an RTP stream Transmission of RTP streams using UDP, TCP, or HTTP to ensure clients operating in different network environments can receive the streams Multicasting of data streams when transmitting on multicast-enabled networks About the Audio/Video Services The Audio/Video Services are available only if you have installed the Multimedia Services on top of the Sametime core server. The Audio/Video Services of Sametime support all interactive IP audio/video capabilities of Sametime. The Audio/Video Services clients include the IP audio and video components of the Sametime Meeting Room client and H.323-compliant programs (such as Microsoft NetMeeting). Basic functionality supported by the Audio/Video Services includes: Handling connections from the audio/video clients Negotiation of audio/video capabilities with clients Detecting the person currently speaking (or detecting the source of an audio stream) Performing audio and video switching operations as different people speak in meetings Sequencing and transmission of audio and video data streams to multiple clients Transmission of audio and video data streams using the UDP transport Tunneling of UDP streams through TCP when UDP is unavailable on a network Interoperability with H.323 gateways and gatekeepers Chapter 1: Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide 7

Full-duplex operation (includes two-way mixing of audio that allows two participants to speak simultaneously and be heard by all meeting participants) About Installation options The copying of files and initial setup is performed by the Sametime 2.5 Installation CD. Decide which installation path you need to take before you begin. Refer to the appropriate topics below to provide descriptions of the various installation options. Each topic has a corresponding detailed procedure in Chapter 2 to walk you through that particular installation. The detailed procedures in Chapter 2 include the pre-install tasks you need to perform (if necessary) before actually installing the server. The available topics are: About upgrading to Sametime 2.5 About using the CD Auto Run About installing Sametime into a Web-only environment About installing Sametime in a Domino domain (dedicated server) About installing Sametime on a Domino server About installing the Multimedia Services About using multiple Sametime servers About installing the Sametime Connect client About upgrading to Sametime 2.5 For information and instructions that describe how to upgrade from a previous version of Sametime to Sametime 2.5 refer to the Upgrading to Sametime 2.5 section in Chapter 2 of this Install Guide. 8 Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide

About using the CD Auto Run Use the CD Auto Run at the appropriate place within the appropriate installation procedure. Pre-install tasks might need to be accomplished before loading the CD. After the CD has been loaded, several topics appear on the initial screen: Release Notes: Click to view important information for the specific release. This information will likely not be included in either the Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide or the Sametime 2.5 Administrator s Guide. Installation Guide: Another link to access this Installation Guide help. Install the Sametime Server: Begin the server installation process. Always use Install the Sametime Server in conjunction with the installation procedures in this guide. There might be additional procedures that must be followed before or after running the installation from the CD. Install the Sametime Client: Install the Sametime Connect client on your local machine. (This client can also be downloaded from the Sametime server home page.) Run the Sametime Client Packager: The Sametime Client Packager enables you to pre-configure the Connectivity and other settings of the Sametime Connect client. This application enables the administrator to ensure that all Sametime Connect clients downloaded from the Sametime server are pre-configured with the settings that are appropriate for your network environment. Running the Sametime Client Packager is optional. Sametime Toolkit: The toolkit contains programming tools that developers can use to add Sametime functionality to Notes applications and databases. All documentation is contained online within the toolkit itself. About installing Sametime into a Web-only environment Choose a Web-only installation if you do not plan to integrate Sametime into a Domino environment. When installed in a Web-only environment, the Sametime server does not interoperate with Domino servers. The Web-only installation is the simplest, quickest way to install a Sametime server for tests, pilots, or new communities that are established using self-registration. Chapter 1: Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide 9

To install Sametime in a Web-only environment, you must select the Set up as a server in a Sametime community (Web only) option during the Sametime setup procedure. If you are installing Sametime in a Web-only environment, you can install the Sametime server to operate with either an LDAP directory on an LDAP server or the Domino Directory on the Sametime server. The Sametime Web-only server installation prompts you to choose either a Domino or LDAP directory. To integrate Sametime into an LDAP environment, you must choose the LDAP directory during the server installation. When the server installation and setup concludes, use the Sametime Administration Tool to configure the LDAP directory administration settings. These settings enable the Sametime server to access user and group entries in the LDAP directory on behalf of Sametime clients. For more information about configuring Sametime to operate in an LDAP environment, see the Using LDAP Directories with Sametime chapter in the Sametime 2.5 Administrator s Guide. If you select the Domino Directory during the Web-only installation, you populate the Sametime community by adding users to the Domino Directory on the Sametime server at the conclusion of the setup process. Use the Sametime self-registration feature to add users to the Domino Directory. The Sametime self-registration feature provides the quickest and easiest interface for adding multiple users to the Domino Directory of a Sametime Web-only server. In the Web-only environment, members of the Sametime community can also create Sametime Discussion and TeamRoom databases quickly and easily by accessing the Sametime server home page with a Web browser. When installed as a Web-only server, the Sametime server is configured as a set of Windows NT or Windows 2000 services that start automatically when the Windows server is booted. You can also start and stop the Sametime server by starting and stopping the Sametime server services from Services settings available from the Windows NT Control Panel or the Component Services settings available from the Windows 2000 Administrative Tools. For more information, see Installing Sametime in a Web-only environment in Chapter Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide

About installing Sametime in a Domino domain (dedicated server) You can install Sametime in a Domino domain on a dedicated server. Install Sametime in a Domino domain on a dedicated server if you want Sametime to operate with Domino servers as part of a Domino domain (or Domino community), but you do not want to install Sametime on the same machine as a Domino server. This installation path enables the Sametime server to reside on its own Windows NT or Windows 2000 server machine and interoperate with other Domino servers. To install Sametime in a Domino domain (on a dedicated server), you must select the Set up as a Sametime server in an existing Domino community (domain) option during the Sametime setup procedure. When Sametime is installed on a dedicated server in a Domino environment, you must replicate the Domino Directory from a Domino server to the Sametime server. The Sametime server requires a Domino Directory that uses the Directory design available with Domino Server release 5.0.7a (or higher). Do not use Directory designs from earlier Domino releases on the Sametime server. Note When Sametime is installed in a Domino domain on a dedicated server, you can also configure the Domino server to access an LDAP directory on a third-party LDAP server for user search and authentication purposes. For more information, see the Using LDAP Directories with Sametime chapter in the Sametime 2.5 Administrator s Guide. Users access the Sametime server with a Web browser or the Sametime Connect client when Sametime is operating in a Domino domain. Authentication for Web browser clients functions the same on a Sametime server as it does for the Domino servers in the domain. To be a member of the Sametime community, the Basics section of each user s Person document in the Domino Directory must include an entry in the Last name, User name, and Internet password fields. The Sametime server includes templates for Domino Discussion and TeamRoom databases. These templates are enabled with Sametime technology and allow users to create Discussion and TeamRoom databases that include presence lists. From these presence lists users can initiate Sametime communications. The Discussion or TeamRoom databases can be deployed on a Sametime or Domino server. These databases can be accessed with either a Web browser or a Lotus Notes client. For more information on working with these databases, see the Managing Discussion and TeamRoom Databases chapter in the Sametime 2.5 Administrator s Guide. Chapter 1: Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide 11

If you install Sametime in a Domino environment, the Sametime server should not be used as a Domino mail or application server. Server performance is affected if the real-time, interactive communication services of Sametime must compete for resources with other high-demand Domino services. You can install multiple Sametime servers in the Domino environment to support large or geographically distributed user populations. For information about working with multiple Sametime servers, see the Deploying Multiple Sametime Servers chapter in the Sametime 2.5 Administrator s Guide. For more information, see Installing Sametime in a Domino domain on a dedicated server in Chapter 2. About installing Sametime on a Domino server You can install Sametime on a Windows NT or Windows 2000 server computer that currently has a Domino server (R5.0.7a or higher) installed. You can perform this installation if you have already set up a Domino domain and you have an existing Domino server available for the Sametime installation. The installation will automatically detect Domino on the server and install the appropriate files. Note Sametime is based on Domino 5.0.7a and requires the Domino Directory design that is used with Domino server release 5.0.7a and higher. When Sametime is installed on a Domino server, you can also configure the Domino server to access an LDAP directory on a third-party LDAP server for user search and authentication purposes. For more information, see the Using LDAP Directories with Sametime chapter in the Sametime 2.5 Administrator s Guide. Users access the Sametime server with a Web browser or the Sametime Connect client when Sametime is installed on a Domino server. Users accessing the server with a Web browser are authenticated by the Domino authentication process for Web clients. (The Basics section of each Web browser user s Person document in the Domino Directory must include an entry in the Last name, User name, and Internet password fields to allow the user to authenticate with the Sametime server.) The Sametime server includes templates for Domino Discussion and TeamRoom databases. These templates are enabled with Sametime technology and allow users to create Discussion and TeamRoom databases that include presence lists. From these presence lists users can exchange instant messages and participate in group chat sessions. The Discussion or TeamRoom databases can be deployed on a Sametime or Domino server. 12 Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide

These databases can be accessed with either a Web browser or a Lotus Notes client. For more information on working with these databases, see the Managing Discussion and TeamRoom Databases chapter in the Sametime 2.5 Administrator s Guide. If you install Sametime on a Domino server, the Domino server should not be used as a Domino mail or application server. Server performance is affected if the real-time, interactive communication services of Sametime must compete for resources with other high-demand Domino services. For more information, see Installing Sametime on a Domino server in Chapter 2. About installing the Multimedia Services Sametime 2.5 includes a Multimedia Services package that provides support for interactive IP audio/video meetings. If you install the Multimedia Services, the core Sametime 2.5 server is updated to include Audio/Video Services. The Audio/Video Services enable the Sametime server and its clients to exchange audio and video data over an IP network. Users with microphones, sound cards, and cameras installed on their local machines can participate in interactive audio/video meetings on the Sametime server. (Users without cameras can participate in these meetings but cannot transmit video images.) Audio/video tools can be combined with chat, screen-sharing, whiteboard, sending Web pages, and polling tools in a Sametime meeting. The Sametime Meeting Room client and H.323-compliant clients (such as Microsoft NetMeeting) can be used to participate in audio/video meetings on the Sametime server. To install the Multimedia Services, you can choose a Complete installation that simultaneously installs both the core Sametime server and the Multimedia Services, or you can install the core Sametime server first and then run a separate installation at a later time to install the Multimedia Services on the core Sametime server. Chapter 1: Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide 13

About using multiple Sametime servers A Sametime community can include more than one Sametime server. You might need to install multiple Sametime servers to support a large user community in a single geographic location or a user community that is distributed across different geographic locations. Installing multiple Sametime servers provides the following advantages. In a multiple server environment, you can: Spread the load of a large user population among multiple servers. Reduce network usage and improve server performance when you have significant user populations in remote or distributed locations. Securely extend meetings conducted on a Sametime server inside your firewall to a Sametime server outside the firewall in the network DMZ. (This arrangement allows Internet clients to participate in meetings conducted inside your firewall without compromising network security.) The installation and setup programs for an additional Sametime server are basically the same as the installation and setup programs for the first Sametime server. The only difference is that when installing the additional Sametime server, you can specify a Sametime configuration server and determine whether the Configuration database (STCONFIG.NSF) is replicated from one Sametime server (or Sametime configuration server ) to the new Sametime server. Note The Configuration database stores the administration settings of a Sametime server. In multiple Sametime server environments, it is necessary for some of these administration settings to be consistent on all Sametime servers in the environment. You might want to replicate the Configuration database to ensure that the new Sametime server has configuration settings that are consistent with the other Sametime servers. Although the installation and setup programs for new (or additional) Sametime servers are similar to those of the first Sametime servers, there are some post-setup configurations that are required to integrate the newlyinstalled Sametime server with the existing Sametime server(s). These procedures are discussed in the Deploying Multiple Sametime Servers chapter of the Sametime 2.5 Administrator s Guide. You should review this chapter before installing a new Sametime server into an environment in which another Sametime server is already operating. 14 Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide

Multiple servers and Domino environments Multiple Sametime servers must operate in a Domino environment. If you intend to install multiple Sametime servers, Lotus recommends installing Sametime in a Domino environment (either on a dedicated server or a server that already includes Domino). Generally, some experience with Domino server administration is helpful when installing Sametime in a Domino environment. Note If you have installed your first Sametime server as a Web-only server, you must use the Domino R5 Administrator client to register the new Sametime server into the Domino Directory before installing the new Sametime server. The new Sametime server must be installed as a dedicated server in a Domino environment. The administrator must be knowledgeable about the functioning of Domino domains and the procedures required to install additional Domino servers in a Domino environment before attempting to install additional Sametime servers into an environment in which the first Sametime server is installed as a Web-only server. About installing the Sametime Connect client Sametime 2.5 includes two versions of the Sametime Connect client: a standalone Windows application and a signed Java applet that runs in a user s Web browser. The administrator controls the availability of these clients through settings in the Sametime Administration Tool or from the Sametime Client Packager application. Both versions of the Sametime Connect client are available to end users following a default installation of the Sametime server. In the Sametime user interfaces, the Windows version of Sametime Connect is called Sametime Connect for the desktop. The Java version of Sametime Connect is called Sametime Connect for browsers. To use the Windows-based version of Sametime Connect, users select a link on the Sametime Download page. Users can run the installation procedure directly from the server, or download the client to the local machine and then run the installation procedure to install the client. To use the Javabased version of Sametime Connect, users select a link on the server home page and the client loads in the user s Web browser; a separate installation procedure is not required. The Windows-version of Sametime Connect can also be installed from the Sametime server CD. Note Each user must have an Internet password entered on the Person document in the Domino Directory before using Sametime Connect. The Internet password is required to log on to Sametime Connect. Chapter 1: Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide 15

Using the Sametime Client Packager application Sametime 2.5 includes a Client Packager application that enables the administrator to pre-configure the Connectivity settings of all Sametime Connect clients downloaded from the Sametime server. The Sametime Client Packager application is the SametimeClientPackager.exe file available from the Sametime server CD. The Sametime Client Packager application is also available from the CD Autorun screen. Generally, you can run this application after you have installed and set up the Sametime server. For more information, see Using the Sametime Client Packager application in Chapter 2. About System Requirements This topic describes the system requirements for the Sametime server and client computers. Server requirements Sametime requires one server computer for Sametime installation that meets these requirements: CPU: Pentium II 350MHz (or higher) Operating system: Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 1 or 2 or Windows 2000 Advanced Server with Service Pack 1 or 2 or Windows NT with Service Pack 6a Memory: Windows NT: 512MB RAM recommended; 256MB minimum Windows 2000: 512MB RAM recommended; 256MB minimum Disk space: 500MB of free disk space. 1GB is recommended to allow space for meetings Disk swap space: 64MB Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4.0 (with Service Pack 2), 5.0, or 5.5 Netscape Navigator 4.5 or Communicator 4.7 Network Software: TCP/IP network software installed IMPORTANT NOTE: Ensure that the Administrator who is logging on to Windows NT or Windows 2000 to perform the installation has full administration rights. If not, Sametime will not be installed properly. 16 Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide

Client requirements The client system requirements for operation with the Sametime server (and Multimedia Services ) include: CPU: Pentium II 233MHz (or higher) Operating system: Windows 95 OSR2 Windows 98 Windows 98SE Windows NT Workstation 4.0 SP5 Windows 2000 Professional Windows Millenium Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4.0 (with Service Pack 2), 5.0, or 5.5 Netscape Navigator 4.5 or Communicator 4.7 Memory: Windows NT with Service Pack 5 or 6a or Windows 2000 Professional: 96MB Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows ME, or Windows 95: 64MB (96MB recommended for audio/video) Additional client requirements for audio/video: Sound card: A full-duplex sound card is required to participate in interactive audio/video meetings. A half-duplex sound card is required to enable a user to listen to an audio meeting that is broadcast by the Sametime Broadcast Services. Microphone and speakers: High-quality microphones are recommended. Avoid microphones with on and off switches unless they are of high quality. A headset that contains a boom microphone performs best. If a desktop microphone is used, a unidirectional dynamic microphone that uses batteries is preferred. Camera: A high-quality USB or PCMCIA PC camera is recommended (do not use parallel port cameras). A camera is optional. Users who do not have a camera can participate in an audio/video meeting. These users can see video images displayed in the Sametime Meeting Room client. When a user without a camera speaks, no video image is displayed in the video component of the Meeting Room client. Video capturing software: Video for Windows. Chapter 1: Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide 17

Chapter 2 Upgrading and Installing Sametime 2.5 This chapter includes step-by-step instructions for upgrading a previous version of Sametime to Sametime 2.5. It also provides the procedures necessary for installing Sametime 2.5 into the different environments. Upgrading to Sametime 2.5 This section of the Sametime Installation Guide provides detailed instructions for the upgrade to Sametime 2.5. This section includes the following topics: If you are upgrading from Sametime 2.0 to Sametime 2.5, perform the procedure described in the Upgrading from Sametime 2.0 to Sametime 2.5 section of this chapter. If you are upgrading from Sametime 1.5 to Sametime 2.5, perform the procedures described in the Upgrading from Sametime 1.5 to Sametime 2.5 section of this chapter. Upgrading from Sametime 2.0 to Sametime 2.5 Use these instructions to upgrade a Sametime 2.0 server to Sametime 2.5. Note If you have installed Sametime 2.0 on a Domino server, and you want to upgrade to Sametime 2.5, you should first upgrade the Domino server from R5.0.3 to R5.0.7a. After you have completed the Domino upgrade, you can install Sametime 2.5 on the Domino server. Pre-install Tasks 1. In NT Services, switch Sametime Server and Sametime Meeting Server from Automatic to Manual. Note If you are on a Domino Server, you do not have to switch Sametime Server and Sametime Meeting Server from Automatic to Manual. Instead, you need to stop the Domino server. 2. Stop the Sametime 2.0 server. If you cannot stop the Sametime 2.0 services, reboot the server. 19

Run the Install CD 1. Insert the Sametime 2.5 Installation CD into the CD-ROM drive of the server. The CD will begin loading; then the main dialog will display. 2. Click Install the Sametime Server. 3. Read, follow directions and click Next through the Welcome and Software License Agreement screens. 4. The following dialog displays: An existing version of Sametime is found at C:\Sametime. Would you like to upgrade? If yes, make sure you stop the Sametime server. Click Yes. Note You must have stopped or rebooted the Sametime 2.0 server as described in the Pre-install Tasks above before completing step The Start Copying Files dialog displays. You may also receive a message indicating a read-only file (MSVCRT.DLL) is detected. Click Yes to replace this file. 6. The Installation Complete dialog box displays. Choose Restart my computer now. The server will reboot and the setup will continue. 7. The Upgrade the Sametime Server dialog displays. Type in the filename of the Sametime server ID or browse to and select the Sametime server ID file. If you are upgrading Sametime in a Web-only environment, the Sametime server ID is located in the directory where you installed Sametime. For example: C:\SAMETIME\DATA\SERVER.ID (where SERVER.ID is the server ID file). If you are upgrading Sametime in a Domino environment, the Sametime server ID is the one you previously created when you registered the server. 8. Click Next. The Sametime Server Setup Progress bar displays; when done the Setup Finished dialog displays. 9. At this point the Sametime 2.0 server has been upgraded to Sametime Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide

Upgrading from Sametime 1.5 to Sametime 2.5 This is the first of several procedures required to upgrade a Sametime 1.5 server to a Sametime 2.5 server. In this procedure, you run the Sametime 2.5 installation from the CD. If you have installed Sametime 1.5 on a Domino server and you want to upgrade to Sametime 2.5, you should first uninstall Sametime 1.5 and then upgrade the Domino server from to R5.0.7a. After you have completed the Domino upgrade, you can install Sametime 2.5 on the Domino server. There are additional steps you need to perform if you are upgrading on a Domino server. These steps are as follows: 1. Before you uninstall Sametime 1.5, you should make a backup copy of STCONF.NSF. 2. After the Sametime 2.5 install has completed, replace the STCONF.NSF with the backup copy. 3. Replace the design of STCONF.NSF with the one on the machine. 4. Run the ConvertMeetingDocuments agent in STCONF.NSF. Pre-install Tasks 1. In NT Services, switch Sametime Server and Sametime Meeting Server from Automatic to Manual. Note If you are on Domino Server, you do not have to switch Sametime Server and Sametime Meeting Server from Automatic to Manual. Instead, you need to sop the Domino server. 2. Stop the Sametime 1.5 server. If you cannot stop the Sametime 1.5 services, reboot the server. Click Yes. Note You must have stopped or rebooted the Sametime 1.5 server as described in the Pre-install Tasks above before completing step 4. Chapter 2: Upgrading and Installing Sametime

5. The Start Copying Files dialog displays. Upgrade instructions 22 Sametime 2.5 Installation Guide To upgrade from Sametime 1.5 to Sametime 2.5, you must perform the procedures below. Detailed instructions for each procedure are also included in this Install Guide. 1. Stop the Sametime 1.5 server. The Sametime 1.5 services (and all Domino services) must be stopped before you begin the upgrade process. 2. Run the Sametime 2.5 installation on the Sametime 1.5 server. The Sametime 2.5 installation automatically detects the presence of Sametime 1.5 on the server. 3. Upgrade the format and rebuild the views of the Directory. This procedure is required only when upgrading a Web-only Sametime 1.5 server. This procedure ensures that the Domino Directory on the Sametime server has the appropriate format for Sametime Run the ConvertMeetingDocuments agent in STCONF.NSF. This agent enables meetings created on the Sametime 1.5 server to appear in the Sametime 2.5 Online Meeting Center (STCONF.NSF). This step may not be necessary if done during the install. 5. Each user that created a password-protected meeting must open the Meeting Details document for the password-protected meeting. The password hashing algorithm used with Sametime 1.5 is incompatible with the Sametime 2.5 hashing algorithm. The meeting passwords must be re-entered so that the proper hashing algorithm is used. To convert

the passwords, the user must open the Meeting Details document of each password-protected meeting and re-enter the meeting password. 6. New self-registration database on the Sametime 2.5 server. These procedures involve the STREG.NSF database and enabling self-registration from the Sametime Administration Tool. Step 1 Stopping the Sametime 1.5 server Stop the Sametime 1.5 server before you run the Sametime 2.5 installation. To stop the Sametime 1.5 server from the Windows desktop: 1. Select Start - Settings - Control Panel - Services. 2. In the Services dialog box, click on the Sametime Server and click Stop. Caution Performing the procedure above will stop all Sametime and Domino services running on the Windows NT machine. You may want to wait several minutes before proceeding with Step 2 below. The upgrade will not complete successfully if you start the upgrade before all of the Sametime and Domino services have stopped. You can also use the Windows NT Task Manager feature to verify that all Sametime and Domino services are stopped before beginning the upgrade. To open the NT Task Manager, right-click on the Windows NT toolbar and then select Task Manager. If you begin the upgrade before the Sametime and Domino services have stopped, you will see a series of errors indicating that files cannot be removed. You can click OK to get past these error messages but the upgrade will eventually fail with an Error encountered in the local server error message. Step 2 Run the Sametime 2.5 installation on the Sametime 1.5 server When you are sure that all of the Sametime services are stopped, run the Sametime 2.5 installation on the Sametime 1.5 server. Follow the instructions below: 1. Insert the Sametime Installation CD into the CD-ROM drive of the server. The CD will begin loading; then the main autorun dialog will display. 2. Click Install the Sametime Server. 3. Read, follow directions, and click Next through the following screens: Welcome Software License Agreement Chapter 2: Upgrading and Installing Sametime
