4 About this Document This document provides step-by-step instruction about how to install and configure ScaleArc in the Microsoft Azure environment. Audience This document is for System Administrators and SQL Administrators. If you are an Administrator that works with a Managed Services Provider or in a Cloud environment please use the ScaleArc cloud deployment guide. Naming Conventions The term ScaleArc and ScaleArc Portal will refer to the ScaleArc User Interface within the internet browser. The term VIP refers to virtual IP Address. Typographical Conventions The document uses different typefaces to indicate different kinds of information. The following table explains these typographical conventions. Marketplace Deployment and Configuration In order to be able to setup and configuration your ScaleArc VM on Azure, you will need to contact ScaleArc to receive a trial or production license.

5 Marketplace Deployment and Configuration In order to be able to setup and configuration your ScaleArc VM on Azure, you will need to contact ScaleArc to receive a trial or production license. Deployment using the Windows Azure Portal This method uses the web based Windows Azure portal. In order to access it you need to ensure you have a Windows Azure subscription (unless you already have a subscription of course) account. For images that use one of the Windows Azure-Endorsed Linux Distributions it is possible to deploy virtual machines using the Windows Azure portal. This section of the documentation describes how to do this. When you login to the management portal you will see a page that looks something like this: Click the Marketplace ScaleArc 2901 Tasman Drive, Suite 210 Santa Clara, CA Page 5 of 17

6 In order to create a virtual machine search for the image through the Marketplace. To do this you must select "Compute" from the menu on the Left, then search for "scalearc" in the search field on the computer page. Finally, select the image to use, in this case, we will be using ScaleArc for SQL Server. The screenshot below shows each item: ScaleArc 2901 Tasman Drive, Suite 210 Santa Clara, CA Page 6 of 17

After clicking "ScaleArc for SQL Server" you will be presented with a dialog which gives ScaleArc s description and type of compute stack to choose

8 Fill in and choose your instance information, vm size, and storage account. Under Network Security group, add the SQL port that you will be using to connect to the ScaleArc instance. In this example it will be 1433 for MSSQL. Click OK > OK ScaleArc 2901 Tasman Drive, Suite 210 Santa Clara, CA Page 8 of 17

10 The next page will show the offer details and legal terms from Azure. Click Buy. Finally Click Create to launch the instance. It takes a few minutes to create the instance, your progress is shown on the home page. Once complete your instance will be running you can now browse to the IP or DNS of the instance and setup ScaleArc for use. Add a second disk for log storage. Startup Wizard/Step 1 On the first page of the Startup Wizard select your Time Zone, Time Server by default we auto populate clock.redhat.com, Administrator Username and Management password.

Make sure to take note of what you chose to use for your administrator username and password as they will be needed in order to create clusters and for general management of the ScaleArc system. Note: the HTTPS site will use a self-signed certificate so you will need to add that certificate manually by creating a certificate security exception.

13 Uploading Licenses Select Upload New License. Then browse to the license that has been provided to you by ScaleArc. After you have selected your license select Apply Settings. Your initial configuration of your ScaleArc has been completed. If you need information on how to do this please see Appendix A. If you would like to use your own TSA certificate please contact ScaleArc support to help you reconfigure the active certificate. 14 Setting up Clusters Open your browser. Type your management IP into the address bar. The page should resolve to a login screen. Example Type the login credentials you entered in during the startup wizard. (example: admin/admin) After your first login you will be prompted with the below screen. Select Setup ScaleArc Cluster. 15 Create a Cluster/ Step 1 On this screen you will be required to name your cluster and configure the basic configuration for your cluster. Including the Database TCP Port, the port will be used for the incoming traffic and does not need to be the port that your database server uses, and the Database Username and Password. 16 After you have entered in the Username and Password for your database server you will need to add the database server to the cluster. Enter in the IP Address and Port that your database server communicates on, as well as the Type ( Read+Write implies the server is a master Read Only implies the server is a slave). Repeat adding servers until you have added all of the servers for this cluster. After you have added all of your server select Setup Cluster. Your initial setup is now complete. Appendix A Adding a Certificate Security Exception The first time you visit the HTTPS URL for your ScaleArc AMI instance you will be prompted with a Untrusted Connection Screen.

17 Appendix A Adding a Certificate Security Exception The first time you visit the HTTPS URL for your ScaleArc AMI instance you will be prompted with a Untrusted Connection Screen. Select I Understand the Risks. You will be prompted with the Add Security Exception screen. Select Get Certificate then select confirm Security Exception.
