This safely discharges any static electricity that may have build up on your body. Handle the card by the PCB edge only. Avoid touching the gold-plated bus or any electronic components. 1. Turn off your computer and disconnect the power cord before installing the host card. 2. Remove your computer s cover. (Please refer to your computer owners manual for instructions on removing the cover) 3. Locate an available PCI expansion slot and remove the bracket cover. 4. Insert the card carefully into a free PCI slot and make sure the goldplated bus is seated evenly in the PCI slot. 5. Fasten the PCI card s mounting bracket securely to the rear computer case by screw, it can avoid the card falling out accidentally when plug in the external SATA cable. 6. Before replacing your computer s cover, you must make sure no tools or screws is left inside your computer case 7. Reconnect AC power cord and turn the power on, to complete the driver software installation.

4 Manual_Page 4 About Cables SATA & e-sata Cables With Serial ATA interface, each Serial ATA devices has its own cable to connect directly to a Serial ATA host adapter internal or external port, if you do not have any SATA cable, you will need to purchase this alone from your local dealer, but must sure you have obtain the right cable for using SATA type A or esata connectors. This chapter will describe how to connect a correct Serial ATA cable to the SATA PCI adapter. There are two types of SATA connectors mounted on the PCI host adapter, One is SATA type A connector for internal port which usually connects to internal SATA hard drive by a standard SATA cable (e.g. equip item #111800/1/2). All internal connections are Type A and has a L key to ensure correct orientation. The other esata connector has not L shaped key, it usually use in external connection. You need to use an esata cable (e.g. equip item #111821/2) for connecting an external esata device. The esata cable supports high-speed 3Gb/sec SATA II specification as well as SATA I. The following picture can help you recognize both standard SATA and esata cables. Power adapter cable converter You also need a power adapter cable (e.g. equip item #112050) that converts a 4- pin power plug into 15-pin SATA plug for internal Serial ATA device power supply. Please see below for a picture of the power cable.
