2 IBM Power Systems HPC Cluster is an integrated offering containing compute, interconnect, storage, management, cabling, and racking hardware that incorporates the following: From five to sixty-four compute nodes, built upon the foundation of IBM POWER8 processors with NVlink Technology, with optional Graphical Processing Unit (GPU) or Field Programmable Gateway Array (FPGA) Acceleration from OpenPOWER partners Elastic Storage Server (ESS) parallel storage solutions IBM Power HPC Stack V1.1 that includes IBM Spectrum LSF Suite (LSF, MPI, Cluster Foundation, Application Center Process Manager), IBM Spectrum Scale Client, IBM XL C/C++ and Fortran Compilers, ESSL, Parallel ESSL, IBM Parallel Performance Toolkit High performance interconnect/fabric from Mellanox Technologies This preloaded cluster offering is based on IBM Power HPC Stack V1.1. The capabilities of IBM Power HPC Stack include: GPU-enabled workload management for demanding, distributed, and mission-critical science and engineering computing environments Monitoring, alerting, and log analytics for optimal operational management Workflow, license management, and intelligent policy-driven scheduling, all designed to work together to address HPC needs Application-centric workload submission and management to improve end-user productivity IBM POWER8 optimized development and runtime environments using the Message Passing Interface (MPI) for its parallel version. When configured with the optional Elastic Storage Server (ESS) storage solutions, Spectrum Scale clients are preinstalled to the compute, login, and management nodes. These cluster elements are integrated and tested in IBM s manufacturing facilities for completeness, and then shipped to client locations for final racking. This end to end integration, testing, and manufacturing process reduces risk of an incomplete solution and speeds up time to deployment.
