10 4 Serial Port Connections The supplied USB to TTL UART cable connects to the NetLeap as follows: Figure 7 - Connecting supplied cable While this cable works well within the provided LINUX VM, the cable may not work properly under Windows 10 without obtaining a third party driver. You may search the web for drivers based on the USB ID. For Windows 10 NovTech recommends a FTDI TTL-232R-3V3 cable (not provided). It should be connected per the following: Figure 8 - TTL-232L-3V3 Connection Property of NovTech, Inc All Rights Reserved Page 9 of 13
11 5 Booting NetLeap 5.1 Hardware Setup To setup the NetLeap board for booting, follow these steps: 1. Plug in the supplied USB to TTL UART cable to the HPS UART port on the board (see figure 7) and connect to PC. 2. Run the supplied LINUX VM (see the NetLeap development manual for instructions) 3. Insert the SD card into the HPS SD slot. 5.2 Serial Console Setup Open a Serial Terminal like Hyper-Terminal, PuTTY or UConn, with settings of , 8, N, 1. For convenience, PuTTY and a preconfigured settings file are provided in the supplied Virtual Machine. The VM provides a preinstalled environment with tools to speed development. A link to PuTTY can be found on the desktop Figure 9 - PuTTY icon Property of NovTech, Inc All Rights Reserved Page 10 of 13
12 For convenience, a preconfigured setting called USB to TTL UART is also provided in the Virtual Machine. Figure 10 - Configuring Putty Property of NovTech, Inc All Rights Reserved Page 11 of 13
