Best Practice Award received The 2009 Global Swipe Sensor Product Differentiation Innovation of the Year Award, is presented to IDEX ASA for its SmartFinger swipe sensor The award is in recognition of IDEX successful initiative in improving the innovative SmartFinger swipe sensor, launched in December 2007, by further enhancing its technology that combines fingerprint identification and navigation capabilities in the same module. 5

6 2. Agreement with major semiconductor manufacturer signed. IDEX ASA ( IDEX") is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with a major semiconductor company. The overall goal is to enter high volume markets, such as mobile phones. Both companies have allocated dedicated resources into the program. Work in progress according to plan 6

7 3. Embedded solution completed The kit includes a hardware and software implementation for a stand-alone fingerprint authentication module. Can be used within a number of applications: Door locks Portable storage Hand-held ID terminals, biometric tokens ID cards, Smartcards The solution has been developed in close collaboration with IKENDI Software AG. A Cooperation Agreement between the two companies was signed in January

8 4. End-to-end software for PC The USB based PC development module running with the end-to-end software resold with major fingerprint laptop brands. The implementation has been carried out in close collaboration the global leader in Fingerprint Identity software solutions: Digital Persona. 8

9 5. The route to volume manufacturing IDEX continues with design and process optimization of the current IX 10-4 for production. Cost optimized designs completed and fabrication started as part of the Agreement with major semiconductor manufacturer. The first chips expected third quarter of Negotiations with an Asian Electronics Manufacturing Service company have been initiated. 9

10 6. Next generation sensor Chip and process design of the next generation fingerprint sensor completed. The next generation sensor is based on patented multi-chip substrate solution which offers customization and a large degree of freedom in the choice of materials, geometry and device packaging solutions. 10

11 7. LOI signed IDEX has recently signed a Letter Of Intent (LOI) to become assigned as the preferred supplier of sensors to large biometry projects for the public sector in Asian countries. 11

16 Growing demand in new markets The financial downturn has influenced IDEX traditional customers within consumer electronics, especially in USA. However: A growing demand for biometric solutions in the financial as well as the public sector. A highly secure solution is to integrate the fingerprint sensor chip directly onto Smartcard or ID card. IDEX new embedded solution in combination with the next generation fingerprint sensor suits excellent to these applications. IDEX got growing attention from customers in these segments. 16
