Interface Converter 1 1 Interface Converter The RS485-Bluetooth converter can be used in combination with VacTest Digital transmitters for data transmission via Bluetooth signal.

3 Interface Converter 1 1 Interface Converter The RS485-Bluetooth converter can be used in combination with VacTest Digital transmitters for data transmission via Bluetooth signal. The transmitters' pressure readings can be sent to a PC or smartphone via VacTest viewer or VacTest explorer. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. 1.1 DIP-Switch Configuration Switch Function Default Description 1 Master Master disabled (switch is OFF) 2 Baud Rate Default baud rate is 9600 Bd (switch is ON) 3 Discovery Discovery disabled (switch is OFF) 1.2 Reset Function ON: The module acts as Bluetooth master and auto-connects to another paired Bluebridge module. If switch 3 is also set, a new pairing can be made. OFF: master disabled. ON: baud rate 9600 Bd. OFF: baud rate Bd. To operate the Bluetooth module in a cable replacement pairing set DIP switch 3 to ON for both, master and slave module. This will enable both modules to pair automatically. Once paired DIP switch 3 has to be switched OFF for both modules. Hold the reset button pushed and power-up the Bluetooth module. Then toggle the reset push-button three times to return the module to its factory settings. 5 Bluetooth Connection with Master Two Bluetooth Modules as Cable Replacement NOTE The Bluetooth Module is not compatible with CTR002/CTR Bluetooth Connection with Master As a default, the Bluetooth module acts as slave and the PC or PLC is the master. 3.1 Pairing The Bluetooth module uses a pairing code to authenticate the master. The default pairing code is The firmware automatically stores up to 8 pairings from remote hosts using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method. NOTE When the Bluetooth device manager completes pairing, it issues a message that the Bluetooth device is installed on one specific COM port, unique to the used host computer. In some cases, the Bluetooth device manager creates two COM ports; in this case, only use the COM port labeled as outgoing. 3.2 PC Connection To establish a Bluetooth connection from a PC to the Bluetooth module: Open the module s outgoing COM port from host application (e.g. VacTest explorer) or a terminal emulator. When the user establishes a connection by opening the COM port, the module green LED remains on (not flashing) to indicate that the device is connected. 6 4 Connecting Two Modules 4 Connecting Two Modules In order to connect two Bluetooth modules as cable replacement proceed as follows: Set one module into Master mode by turning DIP switch 1 and 3 to the ON position. Power on the Master module by connecting the power cord. Set the second module into Slave mode by turning DIP switch 3 to the ON position. Power on the Slave module by connecting the power cord. The green LED flash for a few seconds and then turns solid green, indicating that the two devices are paired. After pairing, power off the two modules. Set switch 3 on both devices to OFF so Master will only attempt to connect with the pre-paired Slave. NOTE 5 Busch Software The master device stores the slaves Bluetooth address and will auto connect each time both devices are powered on. Once paired, every time the devices get in range of one another, they will connect and the master will not attempt to connect to any other Bluetooth device. The following Busch applications will support operation of Bluetooth module: VacTest explorer: This software is operated on PCs with Windows OS, the PC acting as Bluetooth Master. It is possible to sample pressure readings from several VacTest Digital transmitters or set gauge parameters such as setpoints or gas correction factors. VacTest viewer: The application is operated on devices with Android OS, e.g. smartphones or tablets. This App displays pressure readings which are transmitted on an existing Digital transmitter RS485 bus. 6 Maintenance And Service The unit requires no maintenance. External dirt and soiling can be removed by a damp cloth. Should a defect or damage occur to the device, please return the instrument to us for repair.
