1 CLS420 Forklift Scale Bluetooth Option Installation Instructions Option PN Electric Shock Hazard Warning Before opening the unit, ensure the power cord is disconnected from the power outlet. Bluetooth Option kit is intended to replace the Lantronix Matchport WLAN module on carrier board This combination provides for a simple RS-232 to Bluetooth converter, giving the user the ability to send and receive data from the scale indicator via a Bluetooth connection. The Bluetooth Option Kit contains the following: Bluetooth Module (130929) Antenna (98357) 6 Antenna Cable (112228) 8 Zip Tie (58579) Installing the Module to the Board Assembly (PN ) 1. Remove power from the indicator and remove the enclosure cover to gain access to the board assembly. 2. Loosen the cord grip securing the antenna in the enclosure. If the antenna cable is connected to the enclosure, remove the nut securing it and disconnect the antenna cable from the enclosure. 3. Remove the existing WLAN module by cutting the zip tie securing the module to the board assembly. Carefully remove the module and antenna cable assembly, and the used zip tie. See Figure 1. Figure 1. To install the Bluetooth option board, line up the two rows of pins with the sockets on the board assembly - J1 designator on the option board with Pin 1 designator on the board assembly - and carefully push the option board fully into the sockets on the board assembly. See Figure Run the 8 zip tie through the two holes in the board (PN ) and over the Bluetooth option board, secure it snugly against the option board and trim the excess. See Figure 3. Figure 2. 3 6. Attach the antenna. If the antenna cable is to be secured through the enclosure (antenna screwed on from the outside), run the RPSMA jack on the antenna cable through the enclosure and secure with the provided lock washer and nut. Screw the antenna on the outside of the enclosure. See Figure 4. If the antenna assembly is installed through a cord grip, first connect the RPSMA jack on the antenna cable to the antenna. Then stick the antenna through the cord grip, allowing it to protrude about 1.5 to 2 inches, and tighten the cord grip. Ensure the antenna s metal parts will not contact anything inside the enclosure when the enclosure is Note reassembled. Antenna Installed in Cord Grip 7. Adhere one of the included MAC Address stickers to the indicator enclosure in a position convenient for the operator to see. 4 Using the Bluetooth Option The Bluetooth option operates as a simple serial to Bluetooth converter, using the Bluetooth SPP, or Serial Port Protocol. The device is set up to be discoverable at all times. 1. From a PC or other Bluetooth device, perform a search for available Bluetooth devices. The Bluetooth Option should show in the search results with its MAC address, and/or the name RLWS-xxxxxx, where xxxxxx is the last 6 digits of the MAC address. 2. To pair to the Bluetooth Option, select it from your search results (or enter its name / MAC address). If your device supports SSP, or Simple Secure Pairing, the devices should pair on their own. If you have trouble pairing in this way, or your device/program asks for a pairing key, enter the default key Once paired, the Bluetooth Option should show as a serial communications port on your device. At this point, you can use your software to connect to the Bluetooth Option s serial port and communicate with the scale indicator. Note The serial port in your indicator that is connected to the board J1 (Port 1) must be set for baud, 8 bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit. J2 on the board is not used with the Bluetooth Option.
