ONENOTE 2016 INTERFACE
THREE VERSIONS OF ONENOTE OneNote 2016 Desktop App Free download for home computer from Website here This is the version we will be using in this presentation OneNote App for Windows 10 Free download from Windows App Store here OneNote Online Free Browser Version no download required, but you do have to login to one of the following: Outlook.com, OneDrive.com, OneNote.com or Office 365.
The OneNote 2016 Desktop App is the most cluttered ribbon with the most tabs and the most buttons. WITH DIFFERENT INTERFACES OneNote 2016 Desktop App: The OneNote 2016 Desktop App is the most cluttered ribbon with the most tabs and the most buttons. OneNote App for Windows 10: The OneNote App for Windows 10 is the cleanest Ribbon with the least amount of tabs and least amount of buttons. OneNote Online: OneNote Online is the most obvious version of OneNote because it has its name visible above the Ribbon, to the right of the waffle Task switcher icon. This version has a moderate amount of tabs and moderate amount of buttons.
HOW TO DO THE MOST COMMON, ESSENTIAL TASKS IN ONENOTE OneNote is a digital notebook that automatically saves and syncs your notes as you work. Type information in your notebook or insert it from other apps and web pages. Take handwritten notes or draw your ideas. Use highlighting and tags for easy follow-up. Share notebooks to collaborate with others. Access your notebooks from any device.
CREATE A NOTEBOOK Start with a single notebook. You can create additional notebooks for different subjects or projects whenever you want. Open OneNote Click the File/New and select the OneDrive-gccisd.net button Click Browse Browse to OneDrive-GCCISD.net. Type a name for the notebook in the Notebook Name box. Click Create.
CREATE A NOTEBOOK Click Invite People to add members now or Not now to do this later Your new notebook will open with the name on the left at the bottom.
OPEN A NOTEBOOK Aside from creating your own notebooks, you can open notebooks that someone else has created and shared. Notebooks will be listed on the left of the page. If you don't see the Notebooks list, click the < to open and the push pin to pin to margin. Click on the name of any notebook to open. If you don't see the name of the notebook you are looking for, click File/Open and select the notebook you are looking for.
ORGANIZE YOUR NOTEBOOKS AND SECTIONS
CREATE A HIERARCHY OF NOTES Right click on Page title Select Make Subpage to indent or Promote or Promote Subpage to move to the left
CREATE SECTION GROUPS If you have a ton of sections in a notebook, consider grouping some of the related sections. Right-click on a tab Choose New Section Group Move individual tabs to the new group
TAGS Unlike other notes apps where you add tags for the entire note, OneNote lets you tag individual parts of the note You can mark a paragraph with a question mark tag for further researching Create a list of checkbox tags for things you have to do Tag other parts of your notes with custom tags, such as people s names or project names. Tags become even more useful when you use the Find Tags button in the Home tab to search across your notebook or notebooks for a specific tag. Click the Create Summary Page in the Tags Summary pane that opens when you re searching for a tag, and OneNote will create a (refreshable) list of everything you ve tagged in one page.
AUTOMATICALLY CREATE NEW LINKED PAGES Automatically create new pages, linked together in a master list: If you re working on a project that you know will require several pages of notes, here s a killer shortcut: Type two square left brackets followed by the title of the first note you want to make and then type two right square brackets at the end. OneNote will instantly create a new note with that title and a link to it in your current note. Repeat the brackets shortcut to add more new linked notes. [[How to Master Outlook]] [[how to Master OneNote]]
PASSWORD-PROTECT A SECTION Right-click a tab and choose Password Protect This Section to protect sections with sensitive information in them Type passcode into both fields
SHARING A NOTEBOOK WITH LINK In the OneNote 2016 desktop app on your computer, click on File. Under the notebook name, click Invite people to this notebook. Click Get a Sharing Link. Click Create view link to enable viewing permissions or Create edit link to enable editing permissions. Then copy/paste that link and send it back.
SHARING A NOTEBOOK WITH PEOPLE In the OneNote 2016 desktop app on your computer, click on File. Under the notebook name, click Invite people to this notebook. Click Share with People Type a name in field and Exchange will provide a list to choose from. Click on the correct person. Use semicolons between addresses to enter multiple people. Type a personal message if appropriate. Select Can Edit or Can View to set permissions. If you want to require invitee to sign in to Microsoft to access the notebook, check Require user to sign in before accessing document box. Click the Share button. The person you invited will receive an with the link to the notebook.
