Demonstrate the ability to successfully utilize online tools, such as Google, Facebook, and Skype to communicate with family and friends.

4 Learning Objectives To describe Internet safety measures and apply them to ensure safety and privacy on the Internet; To find and evaluate information online by using the Google search engine; To communicate virtually with family and friends by using Google Mail (Gmail); To connect and share information virtually with family and friends and upload/share photos by using social media, such as Facebook; To video chat with family and friends by using Skype; To access online information by using QR Reader app.

5 Tech Buddies Pair up with a tech buddy - someone at your table to help you out throughout workshop. Please share your electronic device with tech buddy if they didn t bring one to workshop. Plug in your headphones or ear buds into your electronic device so you and others can enjoy watching online material and content.

You need to learn to protect yourself from online predators so you can feel safe to obtain information online. 15 Internet Safety and Privacy - Tips to Stay Safe Online When creating a password, randomly mix numbers with upper and lowercase letters and avoid using personal information such as your phone number, date of birth or part of your Social Security number. Be sure and write down your password in a notebook and keep it in a safe place. Many websites contain online ads that pop up while viewing a website. Do not click on these ads as they may contain online viruses (slide 16) that may damage data and files on your computer.

16 Internet Safety and Privacy - Tips to Stay Safe Online Do not respond to advance fee or money phishing scam s asking for your personal bank account information or money. Delete the s and report them to the FTC at spam@uce.gov. Do not open an attachment (paperclip) if you don't know the person who sent it. If you receive an attachment from someone you know, don't open it. Call or them first to verify they sent it to you.

17 Internet Safety and Privacy - Tips to Stay Safe Online Make sure electronic device (laptop, desktop, smartphone and tablet) has latest anti-virus software and firewall installed to protect from malicious online threats. Online viruses could possibly destroy your information and data on electronic devices. Smartphones and Tablets: Download Lookout app (mentioned later in training) PC Laptops/Desktops (not Macs): Download & purchase Norton Anti-virus - us.norton.com/ antivirus/
