4 Introduction For more than 15 years, Workshare s been helping people work securely. Our ios and Android mobile apps enable users to compare, review and share files in a secure way from their tablet or smartphone. There are some differences between the Workshare ios app and the Workshare Android app. In particular, Android users do not have a Briefcase, but this feature will be coming soon. This document will be updated as new features are released. Note: This document only covers the mobile apps. The mobile view of my.workshare.com can be accessed from any device. Can users save files from Workshare to their device? When an ios user adds a file to their Workshare Briefcase, the information needed to view the file is cached so they can view the file offline. The only way a user can access this cached information is through the Briefcase. Currently, the Android app does not provide a way for users to store or sync files to their device. Can users use other apps on their device to save and share files from Workshare? ios users can use the export icon available on the file preview to open, save or share files through other applications, such as and other cloud storage apps. Note: The user can only use the export icon on files they have permission to download. Download permissions are determined per folder/group, and are decided by the folder/group owner. Android users do not currently have a way to open, save or share files through applications other than Workshare. What can I do to protect my data if the device is lost or stolen? If a device is lost or stolen, account administrators can log in to the Admin Console and unlink the user s device. After a device has been unlinked, the user will be logged out of the app on that device when the app is first opened. On ios devices, all data is also wiped from the Briefcase at this time. Note: For a user to be logged out of the device, an internet connection must also be present. 4

5 Is it possible to remote-wipe the device? Yes. Account administrators can wipe all data from the Briefcase on an ios device by unlinking it. See the previous answer for more information. Is it possible to create a passcode for the app? ios users can set a 4-digit passcode for the app to help protect their data. Each time the user opens the app, they ll need to unlock it with their passcode to access their Workshare files. This is a faster way for the user to protect their data than logging out of the app when not in use and logging back in again when needed. For additional data protection, the user can set an option to wipe all data from the Briefcase if the wrong passcode is entered more than 10 times. The passcode is valid for one session when the user is logged in. If the user logs out and logs back in, the passcode will be deleted and a new passcode will need to be set the next time they log in. The passcode is specific to the device. At this time, Android users cannot set a passcode for the app. How is the mobile app encrypted? When files are in transit, they are encrypted with RC4-128 Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. Cached files are protected by the encryption offered by the device s operating system.
