1 About this document This document provides an overview of the Company Director magazine app and contains some screenshots with brief notes about app features. Feedback If you have any questions about the app or would like to provide feedback and / or suggestions on future enhancements, please contact us at appsupport@companydirectors.com.au or call the Communications team on Accessing the Company Director magazine app from ipad App Store 1. Launch the App Store (using the icon to right) on your ipad and search for Company Director in the search box (as below) 2. Find Director in the search results (see below) 3. Click the Free button 4. Then click Install 5. Enter your Apple ID password for your itunes account to download and install the app. 6. Open the app by clicking on the icon below (once installed on your ipad). 2 App Library When the app is launched, it will open to the library. All: Preview (about us and the app) and our Good Governance Principles and Guidance Member only: Magazine content You can use the filter button to select and de-select viewing various content types. 3 Downloading the magazine Click Sign In in the top-left hand corner to bring up the screen below. Username is the you use to log into our website ( On 3G-enabled ipads, a 3G internet access warning will appear if there is no Wi-Fi access available. 4 Publication Updates Changes may be made to the magazine after an edition is first published to the app. If a change has been made, you will see a cloud icon with an arrow and a note saying an update is available. Australian Institute of Company Directors 2013 Page 4

5 Navigation Tap once on the screen anywhere to display the menu options at the top and bottom of the screen. See our navigation guide within the app s folios for a description of each control. 6 Swipe to scroll and turn pages Please note, when you see arrows such as these, they indicate swiping, not buttons to tap. Scrolling to read an article on one page Where there is an article with a breakout box, you may need to scroll within the breakout box, and outside (to read the white column in full). 7 Return to contents Tap the screen to view the menu commands and the bullet list icon as below. Tapping the contents page within the magazine will also link through to individual articles. Australian Institute of Company Directors 2013 Page 7

8 Scroll through the content at-a-glance Slide the scroll bar at the bottom of the page to scan across articles and sections. Australian Institute of Company Directors 2013 Page 8

9 Linking to the website and optimising web viewing Hyperlinks will open the app s web viewer. Tap the arrow to scale a webpage to fit within the ipad screen. Web pages will not rotate to landscape within the app s web viewer. Tap to open the website in another viewer (e.g. Safari). Web pages can then be rotated. 10 Bookmarking articles Tap the star button and then tap the star next to FAVORITES. The button will change from + to for adding or subtracting articles from this area. Australian Institute of Company Directors 2013 Page 10

11 Video timeline Tap the video while it is playing to see the timeline at the top, showing video duration and allowing you to skip to a certain part of the video, if desired. Australian Institute of Company Directors 2013 Page 11

12 Article sharing Articles can be shared by , on Twitter, or opened in a web viewer by copying an article link. Australian Institute of Company Directors 2013 Page 12

13 View an article shared / sent to you by another member Shared articles can be viewed by non-members, depending on the device they use to access the shared link. 14 Visiting a shared link from an in iphone mail (or Twitter on mobile) will display an error, as below. A similar error will also appear on Samsung devices (both phones and tablets). Australian Institute of Company Directors 2013 Page 14
