7 7 Preparing for Installation Complete these steps before you begin to install TIBCO FTL software. 1. If you are upgrading from an earlier release of TIBCO FTL software, first read Upgrade Migration to a New Release in TIBCO FTL Administration. 2. Refer to the readme file. Verify that the product supports your platforms and versions. You can find the readme file on the TIBCO download site and on the product distribution, in the same directory as the installation files. 3. Read the TIBCO Software Inc. License Agreement included with the product. 4. Read the sections in this book that pertain to your operating system platforms. 5. Verify that the host computer satisfies the requirements for installation, and that prerequisite software is already installed. For details, see Requirements. Requirements Required Software Java Runtime Environment (JRE), version 1.8 or later, 64-bit, is required to run the realm server component and to run your Java application programs. Java Developer Kit (JDK), version 1.8 or later, 64-bit, is required to develop Java application programs. Installer Account Platform Microsoft Windows Linux Mac OS Account Privileges You must have administrator privileges for the machine on which this product is installed. If you do not have administrator privileges, the installer exits. To continue, either log out of the system and log in as a user with the required privileges, or request that your system administrator assign the privileges to your account. To install the product on a network drive, ensure that the account used for installation has permission to access the network drive. For system-based installers, you need superuser (root) privileges for installation. However, for extracting TAR files, you do not need to have superuser (root) privileges. Ensure that the same user account is used to install all TIBCO eftl, FTL, and Enterprise Message Service products. Superuser (root) privileges are not required for installation.

8 8 Platform-Specific Instructions Before using the installer to install or uninstall the product, read the topics that pertain to your operating system platform. Guidelines for UNIX Before installing on UNIX platforms, read this platform-specific information. Installer Account Log in either as a regular (non-root) user or as super-user (root). Installation Packages TIBCO FTL software is available for the UNIX operating systems listed in the following table. For the latest changes, see the readme file. All installer package names begin with the prefix TIB_ftl_5.2.0_ and end with a suffix from the table. Mac OS X Intel x86_64 macosx_x86_64.zip 64-bit OS only. Guidelines for Microsoft Windows Before installing on Microsoft Windows platforms, read this platform-specific information. Installation Registry The installer maintains an installation registry. The registry location depends on the platform. Do not edit, modify, rename, move, or remove any of the registry files. On Windows platforms, the installation registry is in the folder specified as the value of the environment variable CommonProgramFiles. %CommonProgramFiles%\InstallShield\Universal\TIBCO\Gen1\_vpddb\_envInfo.xml General Assembly Cache The TIBCO.FTL and TIBCO.FTL.GROUP assemblies, and their associated policy DLLs all install into the Windows general assembly cache (GAC). Application programs in the.net framework use classes from these assemblies. Installation Packages TIBCO FTL software is available for the Windows platforms listed in the following table. 10 10 Installation On Mac and Windows platforms, use the TIBCO Universal Installer to install the product. Linux installations use platform-native installers. Installing on Mac and Windows Mac and Windows installation uses the TIBCO universal installer. You can install the product in any of the three modes: GUI, console, or silent. Installing in GUI Mode In GUI mode, the installer presents panels in which to indicate your choices about product selection, product location, and other installation details. GUI mode is the installer's default mode. For example, on Windows platforms, it runs when you double-click on the installer icon. 1. Download the installation package. 2. Extract the TIBCO FTL archive file to a temporary directory. 3. Navigate to that temporary directory. 4. Run the platform-specific installer executable, TIBCOUniversalInstaller. Click Next on the Welcome screen. 5. Read the License Agreement, select I accept the terms of the license agreement, and click Next. 6. Select a new TIBCO_HOME installation environment or an existing TIBCO_HOME installation environment, and click Next. Option Description Create a new TIBCO_HOME location Specify the following properties: Name Identifies the installation environment. The name cannot contain special characters, for example: " * / : < >? \ Path The directory into which the product installs. The directory path cannot contain special characters, for example: " # $ % & ' * < >? The directory cannot be the same as the directory of an existing environment. Use an existing TIBCO_HOME location Select an environment from the drop-down list. 7. Select one of the installation profiles in the left pane of the Installation Profile Selection screen. If you select Customize Installation (optional), you may then select or clear individual components in the right pane. Click Next. 8. On the Pre-Install summary screen, verify the list of products you have selected for installation, and click Install.

11 11 9. Click Finish in the Post-Install Summary screen. Installing in Console Mode In console mode a command line starts the installer. Consider console mode if your machine does not have a window environment. 1. Download the installation package. 2. Extract the TIBCO FTL archive file to a temporary directory. 3. In a console window, navigate to that temporary directory. 4. Run the platform-specific installer executable in console mode: TIBCOUniversalInstaller -console 5. Complete the installation by responding to the console window prompts. Installing in Silent Mode Silent mode installs the product without prompting you to input information during installation. Instead of prompting for inputs, the installer reads inputs from a response file. You can specify the response file as a command-line parameter. If you do not specify a response file, the installer uses the default file, TIBCOUniversalInstaller.silent. If errors occur during installation, the installer lists them in the installation log file, which is in the directory USER_HOME/.TIBCO. 1. Download the installation package. 2. Extract the TIBCO FTL archive file to a temporary directory. 3. In a console window, navigate to that temporary directory. 4. Copy the template response file TIBCOUniversalInstaller-ftl_5.2.0.silent. If you rename your copy with the default file name, TIBCOUniversalInstaller.silent, you may omit the responsefile parameter from the installer command line. 5. Using a text editor, open the response file copy. Update the installation location and the features to install. 6. Run the platform-specific installer executable: TIBCOUniversalInstaller -silent -V responsefile="myfilename.silent" Installer Log File on Mac and Windows The installer writes its log file, tibco_universal_installer.timestamp.username_install.log, to the directory USER_HOME/.TIBCO. Installing on Linux Use the platform-native installer to install the product on Linux platforms. The installer provides a collection of RPM and DEB packages. Prerequisites On SUSE Linux, ensure that libjvm and rdma libraries are already installed.

12 12 1. Download the installation package. 2. Extract the TIBCO FTL archive file to a temporary directory. unzip TIB_ftl_5.2.0_linux_x86_64.zip The extracted file tibco-ftl-5.2.0_linux_x86_64.bin is the installer. 3. Run the installer binary../tibco-ftl-5.2.0_linux_x86_64.bin 4. Read the license agreement. Press the spacebar key to continue reading. Type q to reach the end of the agreement. 5. To accept the license agreement, type y. After you accept the license agreement, the installer extracts installation artifacts to a temporary directory, named FTL.install.pid, within the current directory. Those artifacts include RPM, DEB, and TAR files. 6. Navigate to the temporary directory. cd FTL.install.pid 7. Install using one of these commands, depending on the Linux platform variant. Linux Variant Red Hat, Centos Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora SUSE Other Linux variants Command sudo yum install -y rpm/*.rpm sudo dpkg -i deb/*.deb sudo zypper install rpm/*.rpm If you encounter issues with dependencies, you can safely ignore those dependencies and proceed with the installation. If your Linux variant does not include yum, dpkg, or zypper, you can use tar. for f in tar/*; do sudo tar xvf $f; done The installation utilities yum, dpkg, or zypper install TIBCO FTL software under /opt/tibco/. The archive utility tar installs TIBCO FTL software under./opt/tibco/. A complete installation includes the following packages: FTL thirdparty FTL runtime FTL Java FTL servers FTL Development FTL OSGI bundle

13 13 Installing on Linux in Silent Mode To silently install TIBCO FTL software on Linux platforms, complete this task. 1. Download the installation package. 2. Extract the TIBCO FTL archive file to a temporary directory. unzip TIB_ftl_5.2.0_linux_x86_64.zip The extracted file tibco-ftl-5.2.0_linux_x86_64.bin is the installer. 3. Run the installer binary silently. echo y./tibco-ftl-5.2.0_linux_x86_64.bin silent > /dev/null 4. Navigate to the temporary directory. cd FTL* 5. Install using one of these commands, depending on the Linux platform variant. Linux Variant Red Hat, Centos Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora SUSE Command sudo yum install -q -y rpm/*.rpm > /dev/null 2>&1 sudo dpkg -i deb/*.deb > /dev/null 2>&1 sudo zypper install rpm/*.rpm > /dev/null 2>&1 Verifying the Installation on Linux The installation can be verified by looking for the last RPM or Debian file installed. Linux Variant Command Redhat su -c 'yum list' grep "ftl" Debian dpkg-query -l grep "ftl" SUSE zypper se grep "ftl" Alternatively, examine the log files at /var/log. Optional Post-Installation Steps on Linux This post-installation task on Linux is optional. Consider completing this task only if you used an RPMbased or a DEB-based installer, and only if you need symbolic links from /usr/bin, /usr/lib, and /usr/include to the TIBCO FTL binaries and libraries. If you create these symbolic links, then you do not have to add /opt/tibco/ftl/5.2/bin to the PATH, nor add /opt/tibco/ftl/5.2/lib to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. 1. Navigate to /opt/tibco/ftl/5.2/scripts.

15 15 Uninstallation On Mac and Windows platform, you can uninstall the product using the TIBCO Universal Installer. On Linux, use the platform-specific steps to uninstall the product. Uninstalling on Mac and Windows Mac and Windows uninstallation also uses the TIBCO universal installer. You can uninstall the product in any of the two modes: GUI or console. The current version of the TIBCO universal installer does not support the Silent mode uninstallation. Uninstalling in GUI Mode In GUI mode, the installer presents panels in which to indicate your choices about product uninstallation details. 1. Navigate to the installer directory, TIBCO_HOME/tools/universal_installer. 2. Run the platform-specific installer executable, TIBCOUniversalInstaller. 3. Select Uninstall Products From Selected TIBCO Home Location, and click Next. Select an uninstallation option, and click Next. Option Custom Uninstall Typical Uninstall Description Select TIBCO products to uninstall. Uninstall all TIBCO products. 4. If you selected Custom Uninstall, select the products to uninstall, and click Next. 5. In the Pre-Uninstall Summary, click Uninstall. During uninstallation the installer can clean up the /tools directory. It is good practice to do so. In the dialog box, click Yes, clean it up. 6. In the summary screen, click Finish. After uninstalling the software, the installer could prompt you to restart your computer. 7. If you had selected Typical Uninstall, uninstalling all TIBCO products, then manually delete the directories under TIBCO_HOME. Uninstalling in Console Mode Use console mode if your machine does not have a window environment. 1. In a console window, navigate to the installer directory, TIBCO_HOME/tools/ universal_installer. 2. Run the platform-specific installer executable in console mode: TIBCOUniversalInstaller -console 3. Complete the uninstallation by responding to the console window prompts.

16 16 Uninstalling on Linux Uninstall the RPM or Debian packages in the reverse order of installation. 1. Optional: If you had used postinstallation scripts after installing the RPM or Debian packages, you must perform the following steps to remove the symbolic links: a) Navigate to /opt/tibco/ftl/5.2/scripts/post_install folder. b) Run the following commands: sudo./development_alternatives_uninstall.sh sudo./java_alternatives_uninstall.sh sudo./runtime_alternatives_uninstall.sh sudo./servers_alternatives_uninstall.sh 2. Uninstall using either the RPM or DEB packages, depending on the Linux platform variant. a) To get a list of the packages to be uninstalled, run the following command: Linux Variant Redhat Debian SUSE Command su -c 'yum list' grep ftl dpkg-query -l grep ftl zypper se grep "ftl" b) While uninstalling the packages, use the following sequence: 1. FTL OSGI bundle 2. FTL development 3. FTL servers 4. FTL java 5. FTL runtime 6.
