Microsoft adcenter Analytics is a free, hosted Web analytics service for companies of any size from smaller sites that are unable to afford an enterprise level solution to larger sites looking to optimize their conversion rates and online marketing performance through newly available Web analytics capabilities. 2 Why is Microsoft building a Web analytics service? Web analytics is a vital component in managing an online advertising campaign, optimizing a Web site, and maximizing ROI. We want our customers to have the best possible tools and service so they can make the smartest possible decisions about their business. We re developing this service in response to feedback from our adcenter customer base, who have requested enhanced analytical capabilities to help them get the best value for the money they re spending with us on paid search marketing. At the same time, smaller organizations with limited budgets have not historically had access to high-quality, easy-to-use Web analytics, which we are addressing with adcenter Analytics. Simultaneously, bigger organizations with the internally allocated Web analytics services support teams can leverage new features and functionalities of this Web service for short-term projects that would not require much specialized internal support. 3. Why is the name adcenter Analytics? This Web analytics service was integrated into Microsoft adcenter program. 4. How does a customer sign up? Microsoft adcenter Analytics is by invitation only. Customers may request an invitation by registering at 5. How long will the beta last? Microsoft adcenter Analytics will remain in beta until the service has its full suite of features in place and we ve had the opportunity to collect feedback from users and incorporate improvements. We will provide additional details as they become available. 6. Do you need to be an adcenter customer to use adcenter Analytics? No, you do not need to be an adcenter customer. 7. Is this being marketed outside of the US? International customers are welcome to participate in beta. However, note that customer support is limited to English only and forums with a three day maximum turnaround. Telephone support is in English only as well, and during the normal business hours US Pacific Time. To register for an invitation to the beta, complete the online form at 2
3 8. Should I have privacy concerns about the demographic reporting? No. All adcenter analytic data is recorded anonymously and there is no use of PII (Personally Identifiable Information, such as name or address) in the product. 9. Will adcenter use my analytic data to charge customers more for advertising? Microsoft adcenter Analytics Web analytic data will not affect customers existing adcenter advertising campaigns. 10. What reports are currently featured? Reports are available in eight main categories: 1. Traffic & History 2. Visitor Loyalty 3. Pages & Content 4. Referrals 5. Goals 6. Commerce 7. Funnels 8. Visitor Information 11. How many users are currently using the beta today? How many do you expect to sign up over the next 3 months? The product is in limited beta today and we expect to double or triple usage over the next several months. 12. Does it provide users with landing page optimization tools? Microsoft adcenter Analytics has several features the enable landing page optimization including funnel analysis and goal tracking. Also, site overlay visualization feature allows customers to see how site visitors are interacting with key landing page destinations. 13. How does adcenter Analytics obtain the information on consumer behavior? Is it through cookies? Microsoft adcenter Analytics is a hosted Web analytics solution that utilizes cookies to track visitor interaction with instrumented Web sites. No PII is collected or used as part of this process. 14. Can data/reports be exported to other applications such as Excel? We re continually adding functionality and this feature may be available in the future releases. 15. How does adcenter Analytics compare to other Web analytic tools? We believe that adcenter Analytics will eventually provide the most useful Web analytic reports and customer insights on the market today, and we look forward to additional customer feedback through the beta program. 16. How does adcenter Analytics differ from the reporting and analytic tools offered by the Atlas media console? Microsoft adcenter Analytics provides reporting of all sources of traffic to a Web site, including media purchased and tracked through the Atlas Media Console, but also including other sources such as blogs or organic search results. Additionally, adcenter Analytics provides detailed reporting of on-site behavior such as navigation paths and progress through a defined process (e.g. a checkout process), which is not available through the Media Console. 3
4 17. How does adcenter Analytics differ from reporting and analytics tools offered by Avenue A Razorfish? Microsoft adcenter Analytics is a free customer-facing Web analytics system designed to serve a wide variety of business types and sizes. Customers can instrument the Web pages, report usage and visitor totals and analyze the results. Avenue A Razorfish s analytics offerings are tailored and customized specifically to each client based on campaign objectives and customer needs. AA RF analyzes various analytics reports and implements the findings to improve a client s Web site. Therefore, adcenter Analytics could be used by AA RF as a supplemental reporting system to address customer needs. 18. Will adcenter Analytics offer data on display ads or just keyword campaigns? Microsoft adcenter Analytics is capable of providing insights on the traffic and visitors from any type of campaign from paid search to display to and more. Customers need only to update adcenter Analytics campaign settings with the pertinent information for a campaign. 4
5 III - DeepMetrix FAQs 1. What does End of Service Life (EOSL) mean? EOSL refers to the time when Microsoft will cease to provide hosted and data collection services and support for DeepMetrix products. 2. Why are DeepMetrix products reaching their EOSL? Microsoft acquired DeepMetrix in April During this time, we ve been working on transitioning to the next generation Web analytics service, named Microsoft adcenter Analytics (formerly Project Gatineau ). As part of this transition, DeepMetrix products are no longer being updated and support and services will discontinue April 30, When will the end of life be for LiveSTATS.Net, LiveSTATS.Biz, and LiveSTATS.XSP? Microsoft announced the end-of-life intention for DeepMetrix products in April Software updates have been discontinued. The official EOSL will be April 30, Customers are encouraged to apply to participate in the new Microsoft adcenter Analytics Beta for Web analytics services. Please register at 4. How do I apply to participate in Microsoft s new Web analytics service? The beta of adcenter Analytics is now open. If you haven t already, we encourage you to register for an invitation. We re actively accepting new participants and we hope you try this service as your new analytics solution. Please register at 5. Why extend DeepMetrix services and support until April 30, 2008? We have extended the EOSL to the end of April in order to offer you ample time to transition your Web analytics from LiveSTATS.Net, LiveSTATS.Biz or LiveStats.XSP to Microsoft adcenter Analytics or to the Web analytics service of your choice. You will receive additional EOSL reminders for the product and support services, as well as provide other key information pertaining to adcenter Analytics in the coming months. 6. What does End of Service Life (EOSL) mean for the particular product that I use? None of these products are being updated. Support services will discontinue for each product with the EOSL and, data collection will cease for installations of LiveStats that are hosted by Microsoft. 7. May I continue to use unsupported versions of DeepMetrix products? Hosted data collection and user-interface applications will be discontinued with the EOSL. If you are running desktop-installed software, you may continue to use the product after this date, but it will no longer be supported by Microsoft. 8.
