3 What Is Realize Reader? Realize Reader is a digital book platform that provides students with an engaging, interactive learning experience. Realize Reader content includes video, interactive charts, graphs, and notebook service, in addition to basic features, such as annotations, highlights, and bookmarks. Students and teachers can access their Realize Reader content through the Realize digital learning platform, directly over the Web, or on the go using the Chrome, Windows, or ios mobile apps. Books viewed in Realize Reader require active subscriptions with content providers. Subscriptions are not part of the Realize Reader functionality. Use Realize Reader Mobile Apps Students and teachers can access Realize Reader content using the Chrome, Windows, or ios mobile apps. 1. Search for Realize Reader in the app store for your device: Chrome Web Store (for Chrome OS devices) Apple App Store (for ios devices) Microsoft Windows Store (for Windows 10 desktops and laptops) The Windows App functions on 2-in-1 (laptop-to-tablet) devices in laptop-mode using the attached keyboard for data entry. 2. Follow the app store instructions for installing or accessing the application and your content. 3. When Realize Reader opens on the Bookshelf page displaying the books available to you, click a book to begin reading! 3
4 Navigation between pages is blocked when a reading session has timed out. You must log in again to resume activity. Complete Realize Reader Assignments You can assign Realize Reader content to your students or they can access Realize Reader content from their Programs. When students access assignments or lessons within a program that uses Realize Reader, they are transferred to the reader to view the materials. Once complete, they can return to Realize to complete or turn in their assignment. Complete a Realize Reader assignment: 1. Click My Work on the Home page. 2. In the Assignments page, click the Get started or Keep going button next to the Realize Reader assignment to start or continue an assignment. 3. In the reader, your students can: Use the Back and Next buttons to the left and right of the reading page to turn pages forward and back. To go to a specific page, enter the page number into the Page field in 4
5 the lower-left corner. Click the Table of Contents button to access the book's Table of Contents. Click the Glossary button to access the Glossary, if available for the book. Select text to Highlight words or a phrase and add an annotation. Click the Realize Reader logo in the upper-left corner to return to the Bookshelf. Click the Settings button to see options for displaying book information and setting font size. 4. When finished with the book, the student can close out of Realize Reader, return to Realize, and then turn in their assignment. See also: Realize Reader Bookshelf 5

The Table of Contents opens in a side panel and displays publishing information and a list of chapters or units for the current book. 3. In the Table of Contents, you can: Expand or collapse the Table of Contents by clicking on the arrow button beside each chapter, topic, or section. Navigate to any chapter or topic by clicking on its link in the Table of Contents. Close the Table of Contents by clicking the X button. The reading pane will continue to display the selected page. 6
