1 1. Hiding/Showing Edit Controls You may want to hide or show the editing controls of a portlet. Here s how you can do it. On the Global Navigation Toolbar (footer toolbar) hover over the Actions icon. Then click the Edit Controls option. You will notice that the Edit Controls have been removed from the portlet. Follow the process again to show the Edit Controls.

2 2. Change the Theme Go to the Actions icon on the Global Navigation Toolbar Click on Manage Pages. The following screen appears Select the look you want by clicking on it To see the change click on Return to Full Page

Change the Look and Feel of Portlets Click the configure symbol Click the words Look and Feel Look at the tabs to decide what you wish to change as you click on a tab you will see the sort of things you can change. E.g. Text Styles or Portlet Configuration. This shows how the look and feel of a calendar was changed

4 4. Change the Layout Go to the Actions icon on the Global Navigation Toolbar Click on Change Layout. The following screen appears Select the look you want by clicking on it To see the change click on SAVE

5 5. Adding a Blog Go to the Actions icon on the Global Navigation toolbar Click on Add Applications Select Blog from the collaboration list. Click Add to add this to your space The application now appears on your space and is ready to use.

Posting to a Blog text and an image Click Add blog Entry button This screen will appear Type the name of the blog in the Title field, set an expiry date for the blog and type the content of your blog in the content field. To add an image to the blog click the Insert/Edit image button, click browse. Click the upload image tab, click the choose file button to find an image. When you have found the image you want you click the open button. You can give the pictures a title. Select the content type Add any tags as these assist in searching Check the box to confirm you own the image or that it complies with copyright law. If you want to add more pictures, click on Check in Similar. If not click submit. Set the width and height to adjust the pictures dimensions, then click the OK button Picture 1 shows the view before height and width adjusted. Picture 2 shos the picture after height and width adjusted. Picture 3 shows the view after OK is clicked. Scroll down the page and click the Publish button. Your blog entry has been posted

7 7. Rating and commenting on a blog Click the learning contact who owns a blog that you wish to comment on When you click on a Learning contact you go to their expres space. Here you can view their blog. Read the blog, scroll down and you can give the Blog a rating out of 5 stars by clicking on the star you feel it is worth You cannot leave a comment if you have not been given permission. Click comments to make a comment You may be the first to make a comment, so click the be the First to Make a comment button Type your comment To post your comment, click reply Your comment has been posted

8 8. Scoping a Blog When ever a new blog is added to a space, the Default blog is always use. Scoping a blog allows you to override the default Blog by selecting another scoped blog. Click the configuration button Click configuration Click the scope tab Click the scope drop down box Click the relevant scope for this blog Click the Save button Click return to full page Your blog is now scoped to that page Above the blog is a Breadcrumb. This was added to help identify where you are in the Ultranet. To add a Breadcrumb to any page, Go to the Global Navigation, click on actions, Select Add Application, search for Breadcrumb and click Add.

9 9. Setting the permissions on your blog Click the configure symbol Click the word configure Click the Permissions button on your blog Scroll down the list and check the boxes to determine who has what permission

ADD A MESSAGE BOARD 1 Move the mouse toward the Global Navigation Toolbar 2 Hover the mouse over the ACTIONS icon 3 Move the mouse pointer up and click Add Applications 4 Type the name of the Application 5 Click the Add box 6 When the Message Board appears on your page click X to close the Add Application window 7 The application now appears on your space Click the Add Category button 8 Type the category name in the Name field 9 Type in the Description field 10 Click the SAVE button The Category has been added to the Message Board

ADD A THREAD NOTE: A Thread cannot be added unless a Category exists. 1 Click the relevant Category to add the Thread 2 Click the Post New Thread button 3 Type the Thread subject 4 Type the detail of the thread in the Body 5 Scroll down the page and click the SAVE button 6 The thread has been added to the specified category

REPLY TO/COMMENT ON A THREAD 1 Click the relevant Category that contains the thread you require 2 Click the relevant thread you want to view 3 Click Reply to make a comment on the thread 4 Click the Body of the thread to enter your comment, then scroll down the page and click SAVE 5 The reply has been added to the specified thread
