Adding Pages Adding pages to your website is simple and powerful! In just a few minutes you can create a page that: Highlights a special event Collects entries on a registration form for a promotional contest Features a product or service in more detail than what a standard list item detail page provides.
This screen shot illustrates some of the various types of content you can add on a page, as well as where the Page Title, Search Engine Title, and Filename display to your site visitors. Internet Browser Window Search Engine Title Filename Website: Content types you can add to a page Search Engine Title Page Title Headline Page Title Text Blocks Image Form
1. to get started, log into your Springboard. Springboard > Website Management 1a. go to Website Management > Manage Content. You can add a new page to the website inside an existing section, or outside of a section. 1b. to add the page inside a section, click DETAILS for that section and proceed with step 2. To add a page outside of a section, simply proceed with step 2. Springboard > Website Management > List of Pages and Sections Section Page 2. Add the Page and complete the page information. Springboard: Adding a page 2a. Click Add a Page on the left menu.
2b. enter the PAGE TITLE. Springboard: Modifying page information Page Title is required and displays on the website page above the content area, directly below the section title. PAGE TITLE will also be used as the menu link if you include it in the site s navigation. 2c. optional: Enter Search Engine Information. Search Engine Title: Displays at the top of the browser window, and in the tabs in tabbed browsing. This field is optional, and if nothing is entered, the Page Title will be used. The Search Engine Title is the most important thing you can do to help your chances of being found on search engines. Use a maximum of 66 characters (including spaces) and make sure each page on your website has a unique Search Engine Title. Search Engine Keywords: There s no need to fill this field, but if you do, add the basic keywords that people would use to search for your business. Add the most important keywords first, but use no more than per page. Search Engine Description: This is the short summary that shows up in the search engine results. Keep it to just one or two sentences. Search Engine Description is similar to a line of ad copy which tells a customer/prospect how your website page is going to help them find the information they re looking for.
2d. Verify the PAGE LOCATION. Springboard: Modifying page information The Page Location pulldown will display the section you are currently in, but can be updated later if you wish to move the page to another section. 2e. Enter the Filename. The Filename is required and is what builds the url for users to access the page. Filenames can contain letters and numbers. We recommend keeping the length to under characters. Filenames should contain keywords and if a phrase is used, be sure to use a hyphen (-) between words. Try to make them succinct. 2f. choose Design Layout. Select Internal page layout or leave set to Default Layout (which is the Internal Page Layout). 2g. check the box for Attributes: Include this page in the site navigation to display the page in the navigation menus. You can also provide the URL or link other ways: Link to it from a photo or other text link on your website. Link in an marketing message. 2h. Click Save This Information. Springboard: Saving page information Page Location: SITE ROOT means the page is at the top level of the site, not inside of a section. Examples of this are the home page and the default location of the Contact Us page.
3. Add Headline content to the page. 3a. choose Headline from the Content List, and click Continue. Springboard: Content Information, choosing Headline Springboard: Clicking continue to add Headline 3b. Enter your Headline. Springboard: Modifying Headline Information Choose the Headline Size, or leave it set to Standard. Actual size and color vary according to your website design and color scheme.
3c. choose the Display Location for the Headline content. Choose Primary Content and click SAVE THIS INFORMATION. Springboard: Choosing where the content will appear on the page Display Location: Primary Content is the main area of your website pages where content is displayed and is the most common selection. Depending on your website s design and the page you re editing, you may see other choices on this list. You can easily view the changes to your website at any time by clicking on the website link in the upper left corner of the Springboard. A new tab or window will open to show the website. Springboard: Link to your current website
4. Add text content to the page. Springboard: Adding content 4a. Click Add Content in the left menu. 4b. choose Text from the Content list and click Continue. Springboard: Content Information, choosing Text 4c. enter or paste your text into the TEXT field. Springboard: Choosing Text Rendering Text Rendering allows you to choose the formatting of the text box. Basic HTML is the default; it lets you easily incorporate some simple tags, such as bold. A properly formatted address will automatically display as a mailto link. A fully formatted web link, beginning with will automatically display as an active link. 4d. Click Save this Information. Springboard: Saving content information
5. Add Image content to the page. Springboard: Adding content 5a. Click Add Content in the left menu. 5b. Choose Image and click Continue. Springboard: Content Information, choosing Image Continue adding the image. 5c. Optional: Enter an ALT Tag, Title, Caption. When naming your image, use an image filename that describes the image. It s great if it reflects your keyword. For example chocolate-donut.jpg (notice that you should separate words with hyphens). Springboard: Modifying optional Image Information Use an ALT Tag to describe the image. For example glazed chocolate donut. Make the ALT Tag 2-5 words long including words related to the page s core keywords. Use the optional Title and Caption to explain the image and what you re trying to convey in the image.
5d. Select an image. Select from the Image pulldown list, either an image you ve added, or choose from the images that come as part of your default content package. Springboard: Selecting an Image The Preview Images link allows you to preview all of the images that come with your default content. Or click Browse to upload a new image, and it will automatically be added into your library. This sample screen shot shows many of the elements you can control using the checkbox labeled Override the default display For details about these options, visit the Support pages of your Springboard, click Get Answers Now and search for override default. Website: Image options
5e. Choose the Alignment of the image. Springboard: Setting image Alignment These screen shots show examples of Left and Right alignment.
