To add an Artefact, click the Add Artefact link. Page 5
Add Artefacts link There are several methods for adding an Artefact. - The most common is to Upload a File. This enables you to browse on your computer for a digital file. - You can create a HTML file on the fly, using the Desire2Learn WZYWIG editor. - You can also link to a URL on the internet. Let s upload a File by clicking the Upload a File link. Page 6
Upload a File link The Submit a File dialog box will be displayed. Locate your document to upload by clicking the Browse... button. Browse button Once the file has been located, select it to upload, then click the Upload button. Page 7
Upload button The file has been uploaded. Click Next button to continue saving the Artefact. Next button In the Name field enter a unique, identifiable name for this Artefact. Tags are a way of organising the content of your eportfolio. They are keywords or descriptive labels that can be attached to items to help categorise them. When using tags, an auto-complete drop down list will display other tags you have previously created, or tags created by ACU (such as the graduate attribute list). Page 8
Tip: Use double quotes "" to create multi-word tags eg "Art Project". Click in the New Tags field and enter a new tag name, then click Add Tag Note: As you start typing the drop down list shows all entries beginning with the letters you have typed. Add button Tags Click the Add button once you have completed all the required information for your new Artefact. You will see your new Artefact in the Recently Modified Artefacts list as shown below. Page 9
Reflections Reflections are used to discuss portfolio items, record journal entries, set goals and deliberate on topics of interest. Reflections are an excellent way to reflect on your learning. For example, you may be asked to submit a piece of work for your course unit. After uploading this piece of work to your eportfolio, you could add a Reflection about it explaining why you took the approach you did and recording any goal revisions as a result. The Reflections screen allows you to add a New Reflection, or search for and edit existing items. Click the Reflections link. Page 10
Reflections link Now, let's add a Reflection to your eportfolio. To create a new Reflection click the New Reflection link. New Reflection link The Reflections Details screen will appear. Click in the Title field and enter a name for your Reflection. Note: Use a unique, identifiable name to assist with locating the Reflection name later. Page 11
Click the Reflection field to add your content. You can use either Basic or Advanced tools for entering your Reflection. The Advanced tab provides extra tools such as copy and paste from Microsoft Word, insert image, insert tables and equations etc. As an example, a Reflection has been entered for you. Save button Tags and Comments You can add a Tag to a Reflection, to help identify it against graduate attributes or other items. You can also elect to allow others to Comment on this Reflection, should they have the required permission. Click Save to complete the New Reflection form. Your Reflection has now been created. Whilst Reflections can be independent eportfolio items, it is often useful to associate a Reflection with another item, such as an existing item in your Artefacts library. Click the Add button next to Associated Items. Page 12
Associated Item Add button The Associate Items screen will be displayed. Click the An Artefact link. An Artefact link Page 13
From this screen you can choose which Artefacts to associate with your Reflection. Select an Artefact that you created previously and click the Add button. Now that we've added a Reflection to our eportfolio, let's create a Collection. Page 14
Collections Collections are groups of artefacts, reflections and presentations. They are like folders, except an item can belong to multiple collections at the same time. You can add items manually to a Collection, or you can automatically include items in a Collection based on tags that have been used. Click the Collections link. Collections link To create a New Collection, click the New Collection link. Page 15
New Collection link Click in the Name field and enter a unique, identifiable name for your new Collection. Similar to Reflections you can add a Tag to a Collection, to help identify it against a graduate attribute or other item. You can also elect to allow others to add Comments on this Collection, should they have the required permission. Save button Tags Comments Page 16
Click the Save button to add your new Collection. Once your new Collection has been created, you are able to add items into it by clicking the Add to Collection button. To add an Artefact to our Collection click the Artefacts, Presentations or Reflections link. Page 17
