2 Ingeniería e Investigación vol. 37 n. 2, august (130) Instructions for Authors The Editorial Committee reserves the copyright to print any material and its total or partial reproduction, as well as the right to accept or reject submitted material from authors. It also reserves the right to make any editorial modification if required. In such event, the author of the submitted material will receive suggestions from academic evaluators for changes to be made throughout the article. If author(s) accept(s) the suggestions, the revised (or rewritten) article must be submitted with all changes made by the date fixed by the journal to guarantee its publication in the programmed issue. The process to be followed for publishing an article in the journal The article must be uploaded into the journal s OJS website, see the guidelines for article submission in the Authors guide section in our website php/ingeinv/article/view/59291/56815.any manuscript must be sent using journal s template (6 pages length max.) and must be accompanied by the license agreement, addressed to the to the Editor-in-chief of the journal, Prof. Andrés Pavas. This license agreement should state that all authors involved in the article agree to submit it for consideration in Ingeniería e Investigación Journal. Article and License templates are available on: Once an article has been received by the journal, the corresponding author will be notified by and the peerreview process will start. Following this evaluation, authors will then be notified whether their article has been accepted or not. If accepted, authors must deal with the respective corrections recommended by the evaluators and the Editorial Committee s final decision. Content All articles being considered by the committee for possible publication in the Ingeniería e Investigación journal must consist of the following parts: Title, abstract and keywords must be written in Spanish and English. The title must clearly explain the contents of the article in question, written in normal title form and be preferably brief. The abstract should contain around 200 words in Spanish and English, as well as including the methods and materials used, results obtained and conclusions drawn. An Introduction must be given. It must describe article s general purpouse, including its main objective, referring to any previous work and the scope of the current article. Conclusions must be drawn. This section must provide the implication of the results found and their relationship to the proposed objective. Bibliographical references must be given (an explanation and example of how to set them out is given later on). Acknowledgements (Optional). These should be brief and mention any essential support received for carrying out the work being reported. Appendix (Optional). Scientific and technological research articles must also include: Experimental development. This must be written giving sufficient details for the subject to be fully understood by readers, including descriptions of any procedures involved. Results. These must give a clear explanation and interpretation of the findings. If it is necessary, a brief, focused discussion about how given results can be interpreted. It is required that the bibliographical references for all articles are included at the end of the article, given in alphabetical order of first authors surnames and mentioned in the text and, since May 2014, it is asked that the authors use the American Psychological Association (APA) style for citation and references: - Articles published in journals: Author, A. 4 AUTHOR GUIDELINES In order to submit a manuscript for review and possible publication in Ingeniería e Investigación journal, you must first register yourself as one of the journal's authors using the link Register. After doing this, you can submit your manuscript following a 5 step process. Please complete the required information on the form in English and Spanish. To do so, when you complete the data in the specified language (English is set by default) change the language used on the form as indicated in the picture and complete it again in the other language (Spanish). Note that if you are already registered in the Journal Portal, there is no need to enter your data again. You can apply for being an author at this link. To begin a submission, please identify yourself with the platform and in "USER HOME", stating that you are an author, and then click where it shows you to start a new submission. You can then check your submission's status using the platform. a) Go to b) Select Ingeniería e Investigación c) If you are not a user yet, please click on the Register option. 2

7 1. STARTING A SUBMISSION This first step requires you to select the section of the journal, which is most closely related to your manuscript. You must also verify the following five important requirements: Confirm originality Confirm that the manuscript is in the required format Ensure that the manuscript complies with the author guidelines Suggest reviewers Send the signed license agreement (copyright form) as a supplementary file To complete the first step you must accept the copyright note (also stated in the publication License Agreement-Copyright Form) and the journal's privacy statement. The last field allows you to write comments about your submission for the Editorial Committee. You must click on the save and continue button to proceed to the second step in which you must enter your manuscript metadata in both English and Spanish. 5

10 2. UPLOADING THE SUBMISSION This step requires you to click on select file ( seleccionar archivo in Spanish), choose the document on your computer or device and then click on the upload button. Remember that you must use the journal's article template; do not exceed six pages and include therein information regarding possible reviewers for your work (fulfilling the conditions presented in the same template). Once you have uploaded the file (see picture), you must click on the save and continue button to proceed to the next steps. In the third step article s metadata is defined. In fourth step, the publication license (License Agreement/Copyright Form) should be signed by all the authors and uploaded to the OJS platform, and other supplementary files regarding your manuscript which might be useful for evaluators, readers or for the eventual layout of your article. 8

ENTERING THE SUBMISSION'S METADATA The system will assign you as first author and you must therefore complete the information about your affiliation, including postgraduate studies, affiliation and other information, which will become visible to site users. Use the add author button to enter all the coauthors, one at a time, by completing the required information. Sort the authors by using the small arrows, which appear to help you do so. Complete the requested metadata: title, abstract and keywords. Please write en in language field. Authors must complete the information in both English and Spanish languages. To do so, please change the language in the initial part of each form and fill in the blank fields. It is imperative to enter the biographical statements, the title, abstract and key words regarding your article. 9

UPLOADING LICENSE AGREEMENT AND SUPPLEMENTARY FILES You must upload additional files such as License Agreement (Copyright Form), images, tables, equations and multimedia which can form part of the journal's digital version or that you consider useful for the evaluators or necessary for the layout. When loading each file you must enter descriptive information on the pertinent form: description, keywords, source, etc. in both English and Spanish. The License Agreement, signed by all authors, must be uploaded as a supplementary file for your submission to be considered. For the latter file, change the title to "Publication license", the type to "Other", uncheck the option for presenting the file to reviewers and then click on the save and continue button to proceed to the fifth step. 12
15 5. CONFIRMING THE SUBMISSION After clicking on the finish submission button a confirmation of receipt of your manuscript will be presented. Such confirmation will also be sent via , informing you that you can also check your submission status at any time by logging onto the system. 13
